The voice acting has improved greatly as well as the animation. no screen tear or "lag".
Im hoping for a bit more "free-roam" though and not just wave after wave of similar enemies.
Overall awesome demo
The improvements in ths game bode well for Mass Effect 3:wizard:
I cant w8 (for ME3...)

I'm sorry if this question has already been answered, but will we be able to enable a DA:O style "auto-attack" on the console version of DA2
The demo is fantastic. I played through it in both PC and '360. My only gripe is constantly mashing the "A" button on the '360 version. I was tired of it after the intro scene, ending with Flemmeth, and I hope that I can simply enable an option to have auto-attack in the full game.
So if anyone can answer this question, or post a link to where it's been answered before by the dev team, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
P.S. I'm on board the day one train with my '360 Signature Edition. I'll "double dip" on the PC version when it hits $30 in a Steam sale. So hyped for March 8th!
Same here. Having played the demo on both formats, Im going with the console version. Glad to hear you can place the characters like in the pc version of DA:O. dont think we can enable auto attack, button mashing is here to stay. There is an interesting interview on OXM on live with one of the devs where he says something about it being important for something great to happen every time you press a button, with mashing being great fun.

- The combat is amazing! It feels incredibly smooth and responsive. I tried all the classes, and they were all tons of fun. Great job, Devs!
- The graphics and animations are great. I liked Lady Hawke's running, and facial expressions look really good (Aveline's pained face was very well done). The armors and weapons look very cool as well.
The not-so-good:
- I had two crashes in my mage playthrough. None as fighter and rogue, though. Two crashes in such a short time has me a little worried. I really hope this will not be an issue or get fixed in a quick patch in the full game.
- When using the rogue Backstab ability the screen sometimes spins crazily. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if that got fixed too.
- Flemeth's voice actor was the only one to impress me. The rest are just "okay" in my opinion.
- Some of the lines are a bit corny or out of place. Especially Mother Hawke blaming you for Carver/Bethany's death, the surviving sibling not showing any sign of grief ("let's get moving before we get killed too") and Player Hawke's "At least dad's not alone now" line.
I know Mike Laidlaw said that the sibling death scene is not meant as an emotional shocker, but as something that has an impact in the future, but frankly that is no reason not to write it more realistically. Would Player Hawke or the surviving sibling embracing Mother Hawke to comfort her have been too much to ask for? Or some pained/shocked expressions? Wesley's prayer is nice, but it feels like only he and Mother Hawke really give a damn.
- Isabela's cleavage looks ridiculous. I feel kind of silly for mentioning this, but I wish game developers would realize that low-cut outfits do not look good with enormous, rock-solid-looking balloon breasts. I'm fine with Isabela wanting to show skin (it seems to suit her character), but I do not want silicone in my fantasy. It makes me cringe.

Armor looks like it's not "worn", it looks like it's painted on characters.... which is especially the case with that templar armor...
I agree with you. They stated that the clothes are "fixed" and it seems it is not really worn on the character models. I'm saddened that an armor's appearence will have less of an impact than in the previous game.
I guess that they didn't had enough resources for proper armor models, as they were rushing to finish the game...
they looked at a great success that ME2 accomplished, and used the same formula here....but dragon age is not sci-fi...it's midieval, ad&d, fantasy setting...for me, armors and equipment (for main character, as well as the companions) are big part of the experience...
First dragon age ruined all other RPGs for me...it was so much better than anything else...i just could not play any other rpg (witcher included), because it felt pale in comparisson.
If only they had more time (and money) to make this game, I feel it would be better...with DA:O quality writing and voice acting, better surroundings and yes, armor
I didn't like Devil May Cry anime combat, but I could get used to that, if the fantastic quality story, characters, and acting were there...but, judging by this demo, I do not think that is the case

Really enjoyed the demo. I had one question. Will it be obvious to us which quests advance us towards a time warp and which ones are side quests that we can handle safely? I'm the type who likes to do all available side missions first and then dip into the main storyline. Will it be easy to differentiate the two?
In the menu, there are main quest and side quest titles.

LOOOOOOVE IT!!!
Love the combat
Love the new abilities
Love the new Ability trees
Love the graphics, especially the skin textures, look so real.
Love the full voiced conversation choices
Only complaint is the running animation....... looks like they are running with something uncomfortably up their backsides
But everything else is Amazing!!
Keep it up! Can't wait! Super excited!!!!!

So, thing is.. my PC is more than enough to be able to run this on maxx settings (i5, gtx 570)... And I get really choppy and glitches sometimes, specially when the menu goes out (like new codex, or quest updated).. I see their shadows in really pixellated forms, but they disappear after a few seconds..
A few graphical glitches with faces as well..
I really hope this will get fixed when the game comes out, cause judging by the graphics, it shouldnt be that demanding... (yep, the blightlands are ugly as hell.. yes, they are supposed to be scorched like that.. but its just bad designed.. )
Other than that, I can get used to the combat and the dialogue wheel.. but lets see the depth of the story when it comes out.. Im still "wait and see" about DA2.

I hate the loading and the pauses during a cutscene, I really hope this isnt going to make in the game. I mean in ME2 the cutscenes have much more fluent. So it is possible!
This is actually fixed in the release build!
I was wondering, is the demo generally an old build for all the platforms? I was playing it on the PS3 and I noticed a few things like the lack of battle cries/grunts from everyone and audio hiccups.
Usually (and in this case), a demo build is a few montsh old - once we have a build that's stable, we stick with it simply because you need to test it heavily to make sure it doesn't crash and if you keep switching builds, you aren't given the time to do that.
Content changes are less drastic than some of the code changes/optimizations that have gone in since that build, but even there, some stuff has changed.

the animation is much better, except when walking lol. But its more detailed over all.
I Loved the combat system. Some seem to think it had nothing but bashing, but I was pausing a lot, setting up the spells, arranging targets, and making my team a lot more efficient.
blood and guts, loved it! if you dont like so much blood, turn it off or down. Its an option, so is that really a valid complaint?
I liked the begining of the demo because it was like a preview of what is to come. I didnt really see a reduction in spells, or abilites, just a different way of organizing, which to me seemd a lot better! It made more sense to me in the way it showed of what could lead to what, and what was just upgrading ablities.
I dont know why so many were expecting a full story, or confused why it seem to jump around, or auto level up, etc. Its a demo, it jumped to show you later on the plot the potential of things to come. Its just shwoing the game, and some chacaters, not trying to tell a whole story.
All my teammates autoattacked, IM on pc, so ...??
For the sound, I did notice that on the standard settings speech is at a level ten, but it can baerely be heard. I tweaked it and turn on cc, but still, barely heard it.
anyways, loved the demo! I cant wait to play game!
btw, did anyone else notice the grunts have a ton more health the the normal hurlocks? That seems flipped..?

Having no top over view will make it difficult not to blast my team as well as the baddies. Judging distances in combat is harder as well. :- / oh well, no wonder you took FF out for everything but nightmare.
hope that loading thing with Varric is hashed out before release too.

While you are at it, can you fix the size of Isabella's boobs?

Oh whoops. Thanks. I didn't even bother going through the menu's cause I thought all of them would be locked like inventory. Good call.

I thought these suffered from the same thing as unmodded Origins eyes did, which was kind of a glassy monochrome look. LoTC's eye textures ended up being one of my favorite mods, for the subtle shading it gave.aang001 wrote...

Not a big fan of Hawke. The Voice acting is terrable for both male and female hawke. Heard that you will be having many voices I can choose from. Which I hope is true. Second Hate the Mass Effect wheel dailog. Even more so I hate how you now it gives a peaceful/agressive symbles. That ruins the RP of the game. One part of Role Play is the many chooses. Not only have you removed the 1 - 6 options but your also removing the mystory on how your character will evolve.
I do not feel that the story will be as epic as DOA sence it feels the RP part of it has been butched. The only thing I see that brings me the hope of a good story is the fact that this is being done of 10 years and it going be broken up into chapter. Which looks like I can see my actions changing the land.
Well so much for my elfs cursing about being small and D&D elf and not a token elf. Please at less tell me the elfs in this DA2 will know the defference between immortal and ageless. Sence they where not immortal if they could die from sickness and weapons.

(I'm glad you felt like an axe was coming down when you saw the shuffle, Mr. Mike
Though I would like to see less blood, it is not going to be a issue.

Really? I wouldn't say they're a big advancement on Origins, they're still like mannequins that move occasionally, but lacking the depth in the conversation system worsened it for me personally.

It felt like a bad console port, controls were off, tactical management was pretty much gone, oversimplified.
I did like the skill trees though.
Also, while i realise it is a demo, the first actions your character gets to take in the game is mid combat, with 4-6 actions on your action bar of which you have no idea what to do with. A smoother intro might be prefered here? or was it intended?
Also, the menu options on the character screen dont have the right mouseover positioning. Options would only light up on certain positions on the option boxes which made it incredibly frustrating to actually get something done as one misclick would get you out of the screen.
