There is a reason why Flemeth looks like she does in 2 compared to Origins if you didn't already know. It's all in the story

Enlighten us?

She appears differently to different people. Warden sees her as this old hag and Hawke as this majestic shape-shifter. Why exactly? I don't know. Still a lot of questions to answer. I wonder how Morrigan saw her. It was on another thread that I learned this. It was confirmed by Laidlaw or Gaider I think. I will check to make sure.

And I am having a hard time finding that thread. I'm surprised there isn't a thread on it right now.

Shes a shapeshifter thats all it really is, she can make herself look however she wants to look to people

I just ran this through my translator: "A wizard did it" - awesome explanation is awesome. :/

I find the graphical quality much improved compared to DA:O, I'm not talking art-style here, but technical fidelity.

The animations might be great, but I've yet to tell since the characters move and swing their stuff so fast I can't tell. It's just a great big ball of blur here.

I hope that the final game will have the option to zoom out further, mimicing the tactical camera on PC in DAO, and that we may map middle mouse button to tilt camera view.

My first 2 cents.

The conversation with Hawke is after Ostagar...

one month after ostagar to be exact.

it's in carver's entry in the journal

Off-topic, but: I think Flemeth knows that the Warden is coming back to confront her (Morrigan's quest). At least that's what I think she's implying. Of course, since there are probably people who never did Morrigan's quest, I could be way off base. x

I've played it quite a few times now, but only been able to finish it twice because the damn thing is so buggy. Game crashes completely randomly almost every time, for seemingly no reason.
Bioware's choices about where they are taking the franchise regardless, I really hope the final game is not this unstable. It would be unplayable.

I've also noticed there is a delay between the different characters sentences. Kind of like it has to load between each micro cutscene. EA not giving you guys enough time to polish the game up?

They've already mentioned in this thread that the demo build is a couple of months old and that a lot of those issues have been addressed.

Didnt read all 130 pages, so thanks for the heads up, glad to hear its improved on the tech side of things :)

I think I'll wait until the reviews confirm this however.

Guys, about these crashes. I haven't got A SINGLE crash, And I've replayed it like 3 times each class, No crashes, must be your pc's.

I think he means and I agree.  Flemeth knows the Warden is coming to battle her for Morrigan.

Or that Flemeth and Morrigan are one and the same.

While it's a demo, i do hope the loading during talking segments is fixed for retail or that going to kill alot of the pacing.

Fernando said this was fixed for the release version, In other words, that problem is demo-specific.

I used right mouse button to move the
camera, as I do in all games like this. Guild Wars for lack of a better
example has the same move scheme, A and D to turn, Q and E to
strafe.

Right mouse is also used for attack and movement. I haven't tried with that method, but I have a feeling it would only make me more frustrated. I'll give it a shot though. I'll try anything, if it has a possibility of making it better.

OK. I finally had a chance to download and install the demo today. The game looks cool, but the demo was so crippled and the combat system so "weird" (I guess "new" is the better term) that playing the demo actually made me question placing a pre-order for the game.

I absolutely loved DAO, so I'll probably love DAII, but the inability to see how the inventory system works, the ridiculous anime-like fight acrobatics and the fact that it takes 200 sword hits to bring down an enemy makes me a bit worried this game is going to suck.

I don't know if it's just me (didn't bother looking through 130+ pages of posts) but did anyone notice when Aveline was attacking, especially the Ogre, all she did was stab?

I'm thinking that I agree with you on several of your viewpoints. I really liked the time I spent moving armour around and trying to figure out the best options for each individual character. I also spent a lot of time "building my party to the way that I wanted them". So, again, your right concerning the "more RPG" involving those choices. I also want them. I mentioned in a previous post a couple of things you mentioned and am having some misgivings about being wowed over the graphics and combat speed. But, I'm thinking that we are going to be screwed concerning those choices.

Yep, I agree. I think "we be screwed". Unfortunately, it seems to be a trend in the gaming industry overall; to streamline and simplify gaming to appeal to the masses. I can't say that I blame them, afterall, it is a business. Howbeit, it's sad to see epic RPG's fall victim to this trend. Simplify the controls, the gameplay, the interface, etc. but the depth of character/party control should remain. When you strip away that away it almost ceases to remain an RPG. It becomes an action/adventure game. RPG's have always been about the details and customizability; something that should be left alone.

On a positive note, I have to admit that the combat is incredible. It's very addictive and makes your characters seem very powerful.Though I can do without the over-the-top death animations. It's like they all swallowed live grenades instead of dying the way they should with a sword.

I must say you guys did exceptional. I liked Dragon Age: Origins, but Dragon Age 2 is so much better in so many ways, and I see that from actually playing the game now versus just hearing and watching the changes through vids.

I liked the action-rpg style attack function, gives mages a purpose when they all their spells are on cooldown (something that will be common for low level mage players I can see). The combat feels much more involving now and that party members need strategy but don't need to be babysat (my main gripe in Origins where it felt like you spent more time keeping your tank alive and getting your mage in position rather than concentrating on your PC).

My biggest like is the complete turnaround of the archer rogue. Now it feels like a viable playstyle for my character, and I was a huge naysayer considering the inclusion of Varric and Sebastian as archers, but after playing one I must say I was sold. The archer is definitely no longer static.

Only gripe- Character creation starts AFTER the exaggerated portion in the beginning? That's a bit odd and almost feels like the default Hawke is pushed on us (much like Sheploo). Is that just a demo thing or do we go from default Hawke to character creation? If that's so that's a bit...odd.

Well it's official, consoles still bloody from the mutilation of RTS game's move over to RPG's who they have already severely beaten to take a massive turd on they're beautiful head. Am I being melodramatic? I don't know, is there ever going to be a Neverwinter Nights again? Or do we have to put up with this faff. Biowares games have become less and less interesting with every game they release.

Neverwinter Nights>Neverwinter Nights 2>Mass Effect>Dragon Age>Mass Effect 2>Dragon Age 2

And who want's to bet that Mass Effect 3 will be a joke? I remember hearing that it's going to be more light hearted. If you find a flaming bag of poo on your doorstep light hearted then hardifrigginha Bioware thank you you cold dead gaming god.

I love how you, PC Gamers, cry about consoles. It's pathetic, and funny at the same time.

I play both PC and console games and I LOVE them both. It's when a PC game that I love is moved to console and completely ruined that I have a reason to complain. You know the majority of PC gamers aren't frothing nerds angry at consoles for the death of computer games, they actually grew up playing consoles. I don't mind these button bashing, over the top games but if I wanted that I'd go play Dynasty Warriors. If I want a game which has interesting combat and dialogue it looks like I'll have to go back to playing Biowares old games because I won't find that in any of the new ones.

I've just played the PC demo and I noticed frame rate drop mostly during combat. My PC specs exceed the recommended requirements for the game so I hope some performance optimization will be done.

Can't wait to play it.

I'm reserving judgement on this game until I have the full game. I'm pretty sure they took a piece of the story and compressed it down even further to make this demo. But I do agree with a previous poster that the healing spell takes way to friggin' long to cool down. Maybe they gave it a longer cool down to make potions more significant but I found myself getting slaughtered in the ogre battle because both healing spell and potions were cooling down. I suggest at least one of these two healing options should be usable more frequently. 'Nuff said.

Yes. Played BG,TOTSC,BG II, TOB,KOTOR,JE,NWN, NWN SOU, NWN HOTU,ME,ME II,DAO, DAO A

I played a mage and the demo played very similar to DAO -- just more stylish. I paused, I cast spells -- combat was fun. (I will be playing the game on Nightmare once it comes out for friendly fire)

I'm also 44 married with 4 kids and have a University education.

It's easy to toss someone with different tastes than yours into a demographic.  However different people, like different things.

why did they release a demo with so many "bugs" then say they are already fixed in the release version. The hell is that?

Impression left by the demo: Boring Hack/Slash.

The story line was hard to judge based on the demo, but the combat is so boring that it has to be outstanding to make this game worth playing. My experience of the combat was that it was pure hack/slash. I haven't followed the game closely, so was really disappointed when I found out that the tactical overview was gone and instead the game had become MORE hack/slash and than DA1. While DA1 felt too much like a mmorpg you could pause, this feels like a hack/slash where you can pause if you want to take a ******.

My mistake for not following more closely; should have known Bioware would fail at making a tactical game after their last couple of games and go for the easier solution of hack/slash. Last time I'll get my expectations up for a Bioware game again (even though they were quite low).

I actually found this demo to be less button bashy that DA:O, i found myself being more tactical whereas in Origins I tended to bash buttons more.

Quick question did anyone else have issues with the voices in conversations sounding muted? This problem occured everywhere except for the parts that were specifically setup for the demo, (the cut after the time skip and the after completion.)
