Well it's official, consoles still bloody from the mutilation of RTS game's move over to RPG's who they have already severely beaten to take a massive turd on they're beautiful head. Am I being melodramatic? I don't know, is there ever going to be a Neverwinter Nights again? Or do we have to put up with this faff. Biowares games have become less and less interesting with every game they release.

Neverwinter Nights>Neverwinter Nights 2>Mass Effect>Dragon Age>Mass Effect 2>Dragon Age 2

And who want's to bet that Mass Effect 3 will be a joke? I remember hearing that it's going to be more light hearted. If you find a flaming bag of poo on your doorstep light hearted then hardifrigginha Bioware thank you you cold dead gaming god.

I love how you, PC Gamers, cry about consoles. It's pathetic, and funny at the same time.

I play both PC and console games and I LOVE them both. It's when a PC game that I love is moved to console and completely ruined that I have a reason to complain. You know the majority of PC gamers aren't frothing nerds angry at consoles for the death of computer games, they actually grew up playing consoles. I don't mind these button bashing, over the top games but if I wanted that I'd go play Dynasty Warriors. If I want a game which has interesting combat and dialogue it looks like I'll have to go back to playing Biowares old games because I won't find that in any of the new ones.

I actually found this demo to be less button bashy that DA:O, i found myself being more tactical whereas in Origins I tended to bash buttons more.

I assure you, on PC it was physically impossible to button bash in DA:O. Unlike this where I could literally ignore my party and bash the number buttons in any fight which wasn't a designated hard fight.....

even in a designated hard fight...rogue attacking last ogre, atack, atack, ogre prepares to smash me, press 1 /backstab-teleport/ attack till ogre begins to turn to face me, press 1, backstab teleport ... repeat untill ogre dead.

What I meant was just that, that's how I move the camera, and it works much better than using A and D. On the topic of clicking to target enemies, I found it annoying because sometimes they are hard to click. The solution to this which I found in the controls in the options menu, is pressing R to target nearest enemy. makes combat MUCH easier and arguably more fun.

Thanks Shadow. I'll try these out and see if it works better for me.

Or that Flemeth and Morrigan are one and the same.

I don't think so.I didn't play WH, but I readthat in WH Morrigan talked how she's in some way against Flemeth?

The thing i would like to know is all the people who really enjoyed the demo- have you played any bioware games before mass effect?

Baldur's Gate 1 + Addon, Baldur's Gate 2 + Addon, NWN 1 + one of the Addons, Jade Empire, Kotor 1, ME1, DA:O, ME2...has Bioware made any other RPG?

NWN2 and Kotor 2 were from Obsidian, if I'm right.

"* I played the Dragon Age II demo twice. Once as a male warrior. Then as a female rogue. Both times I ended up fleeing from the ogre as the sister/Bethany Hawke (and ultimately killing it after some Benny Hill-style antics)."

I didn't play on PC because of some kind of stupidly insane difficulty spikes., I played on Xbox instead.
I suppose i'll get the old 'dumbed down for consoles' reply.

I didn't find the backstab cooldown was quick enough to be able to pull that off. I got through that fight on the first try, but I had to use one heal pot and cast a heal spell on Aveline once through the course of the fight. Don't get me wrong, I backstabbed numerous times, but I didn't find the cool down allowed me to backstab/attack until ogre turned, then backstab again right away. Maybe I pissed the ogre off too much and he turned quicker on me... :P

why did they release a demo with so many "bugs" then say they are already fixed in the release version. The hell is that?

I know right? All those bugs (which they say are fixed outside of the demo) will just make people not want to buy the game. They could have fixed them in the demo too, it doesn't make sense. It's generally a good practice to give the best impression you can with a trial product.

Beside the evirment being a little bland, ever else was done quite well the combat move and it flowing feeling to it but at same during bigger  battle , such against the orge it still require some tactical thought before rushing. The voice actioning top notch and new wheel work quite well in how you want your character in come off.

Some other points:-

Spending all the statistical points in Cunning during the demo seems to be an issue, just tried it and it makes Bethany unhittable in the Normal gamemode.

BioWare fixed the character model hands, they are much better in this game compared to the stuck on lumps of DA-O

First of all, the only negatives I can think of were the lack of an auto-attack feature for basic attacks, being unable to actually tinker with the inventory, and the ridiculously long cooldowns on healing spells and items. Oh, and that it had to end...

Positives are plentiful, though. I enjoyed the more visceral combat, as well as the quicker response melee and special attacks have. The new graphical style helps give a stronger sense of uniqueness, while fitting in with the world established by Dragon Age: Origins.Hawke, Aveline and Carver seem like interesting companions (I roll mage, so I didn't spend much time with Bethany), and it was nice to see Flemeth actually look like an all-powerful God-Queen.

All in all, roll on March 11th!

Edit: Forgot to mention, I played it on the Xbox 360.

I just finished the demo... holy ****!

First of all the combat is just plainly boring. I knew it won't be anything that requires thinking but this one is even more boring than in DAO. Dialogues are horrible. Worse than in DAO. Music is ****, graphic is just laughable. There is no singe pro of that game. It's just ****. Good thing they put up a demo because now I know to not bother with DA2. I mean DAO was semi-good. It had filler combat, it had overdone violence, it had many other drawbacks... but at least dialogues were okay and there were some choices with some consequences from time to time. The game was rather good until Deep Roads. But DA2? Now, THIS IS ****.

I'll just won't bother with writing more about it in details... it's not worth it.

I take it one your troll or two your just being unrefine in your thoughts

Though I can do without the over-the-top death animations. It's like they all swallowed live grenades instead of dying the way they should with a sword.

But that deaths were when the story was exaggeraded by Varric, with the super-hero-level-100-champion-Hawke. :)
You can kill 10 hurlock with a single blow, on that part.

And then he told the 'real' version.

No, it's not like that. Just every kind of player is expecting something else. It's not a fight between console and pc players. I like more difficult games, less fighting, more talking, exploring and someone else  prefere more dynamic action and other stuff. This demo i find more for the second ones, that's all.

I don't know if it's just me (didn't bother looking through 130+ pages of posts) but did anyone notice when Aveline was attacking, especially the Ogre, all she did was stab?

This is the third time I post this answer :)

That is because of a buff she applies that is called "Shield Defense"

Ah sorry for my laziness and thanks for your patient answer!:P

I liked how they "mass effected" the dialog system, keeping us from knowing for sure what the main character will say. Its good to have a hero that talks, like Shepard. Great job, bioware.

Loved it except for the short length, and the hooooorrrrible actress for the mother. Some of the most wooden acting I've seen in any medium. Seriously her son just died and she doesn't sounds less effected than discussing fleeing earlier.

Maybe you mashed you buttons but I certainly didn't, on Normal it was just hard enough for me to have a good play but at the same time to feel a little edgy.

I have to mention this since it really annoys me... why are all the character weapons so long and awkward? The character and item designs look like cheap Korean animation. During the demo I was expecting an endogenous male villain, dressed in black leather and a long curved sword, to step out of the shadows and proclaim how the heroes are all fools and then teleport away!

I was hoping for fresh designs with a western theme and I got Final Fantasy?! Even the darkspawn look like they are extras from an anime film, maybe henchmen ninjas moonlighting as darkspawn to earn some extra cash.

I got something like 'Ha, if only you knew my daughter, you'd know I don't hear that very often'. Try playing as sarcastic Hawke.
