Right mouse button is responsible for moving, attacking and turning the camera.
With the combat pace I found when I was trying to get a more comfortable camera angle I would sometimes accidentally run off into the distance and it just feels a bit awkward.
a toggle disable for click to move would be highly appreciated since I prefer to move with W,A,S & D

Don't get me wrong, I love Awakenings but when you're about 16 hours in and realize you forgot the Silverite Ore 12 hours ago in an area you should *still* be able to access, you about lose your mind.
The Demo though is great. Hawke's voice seems flexible enough to handle my rogue life and I absolutely love the backflip and shadowstep/backstab. I didn't get too far in since I just wanted a slice of combat and conversation as opposed to an entire intro spoiling the story (see also: Mass Effect 2 demo, yikes).
But all in all, amazing. Has me pumped and ready to get this export save set properly.
"Change is coming", indeed, Morrigan. Let's hope you remember it properly this time.

Anywho, pretty excited for the full game to come out. Keeping my fingers crossed for lots of dialogue and a modding tool to be released for DA2!

Other than that, everything is great.
I actually found it much easier to read than Mass Effect 2's dialogue. Which was nice. But yes, Bioware is clearly focused on HD gaming.

My first impression was that I really liked a lot of things about it and can't wait for the full game. I could definitely tell this(demo/game) was going to ruffle a lot of feathers.
I like the graphic style quite a bit and the fluidity really helps, perhaps 360 and PC didn't have that problem before though. The part I played, while cool, did seem a bit barren, almost out of place.
I am not crazy about the interface graphics. Seems to have lost the charm of DA:O. The solid colored icons and layout seem more suited to a futuristic game then a fantasy game. DA:O may have been clunky in ways but it had a lot of charm. This seems cold and out of place.
I don't know if this is the case or not, but the whole design of the game seems like a modified version of the Mass Effect 2 engine. I thought DA and ME were 2 different engines, but everything seems so similar it makes me wonder.
Definitely going to play it though. A little skeptical on the depth of the game given the fast turn around from 1 to 2 and all the "improvements," but I'm hoping for the best. I feel bad for the players who are disappointed, I can see how this type of game change would be a shock to them. Seems like the console DA:O is more like DA2 and the PC has once again been LCD'd unfortunately.

Actually the game's recommendation for DX11 is the GTX 460 which is above yours. Also, you probably will be able to add other settings if you turn the AA down... 8x is a bit unnecessary...
And also, it's been said that DX11 is bugged in the demo.

Are you trolling or just an idiot? This was a demo, therefore the choices were made for you so you can see how things play out as an example. If you gave what you were about to type literally a modicum of thought you would realize that they were just skipping around...or did you think that was how it was supposed to play?Maelora wrote...
Pretty much everything the old-school gamers feared would be lost from DAO. Combat feels like every other button-mashing console 'action game;' out there.
Didn't like the way they forced party members on you and forced you to do their quests. Looks like companions are mandatory now. No choices to make - the only meaningful choice is auto-decided by your class.
It simply doesn't feel like an RPG. Like many feared, it's an 'action' game aimed squarely at the konsole kidz who wanted more fighting and less choices/role-playing. But 'lowest denominator' sells, so it will probably break all kinds of sales records.
I shall decide to buy it or not when the romances are confirmed - I certainly wouldn't want it on this evidence. There are dozens of Devil-May-Cry games out there already.

Hopefully it's fixed in the final release, or maybe we could get a "Large Text" option.

As someone who has played, and loved, every game Bioware has ever made, it's impossible to convey just how much I hate this demo. DA2 is the final nail in the coffin for deep PC rpgs, and in an amazing twist the company that got me hooked on them in the first place is who sealed the deal.
Shame on you Bioware, for pandering to the ADHD crowd and turning the PC rpg into a joke. I realize consoles make more money, but did you have to totally abandon your loyal PC base? Besides the graphics, everything about DA2 is a step back from the first game.
Once upon a time you guys made deep, interesting rpgs that were worthy of the Bioware name. It seems those days are gone and this action based drivel is all we can expect from you guys.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
Wow... Um, to take your personal opinion and turn it into a condemnation of a company... impressive. I would expect it if the demo was actually horrible. It wasn't, it just wasn't what you wanted. That's a very different sin. Perhaps they have personally let you down, doesn't mean they have fallen. You just aren't their only demographic.anymore. qq more please, I want to see if its possible.

It's certainly visceral.
Dictionary.com:
1. of or pertaining to the viscera.
2. affecting the viscera.
3. of the nature of or resembling viscera.
4. characterized by or proceeding from instinct rather than intellect: a visceral reaction.
5. characterized by or dealing with coarse or base emotions; earthy; crude: a visceral literary style.
All of the above - you found a great one word description of the combat - requires no brain, is crude and deals with base emotions.
80% of the demo is combat
Dialogues are terrible, sometimes even feel out of context.
Don't care about graphics.
CONCLUSION: If the demo is representative of what DA2 is like, You won't be getting no money from me. It's really bad.

I've played the demo 5 times now and I really love the rogue the most. Backstabbing the ogre and then dodging was so sweet! I love the body parts flying after a killing blow, it kept a smile on my face the whole time I played it.
I'm very interested to see the full skill trees for all of the classes. I also hope there is a ton of different loot and secret quests. Also glad that you left in the full character customization, it's one of my favorite things about Dragon Age Origins. I'll probably play as Hawke the first time through and then make my own guy the second time.
Overall: Thumbs up!

1)A doormat
2)A sarcastic know it all
3)A self loathing angry man
I had to balance the dialogue options so my character wasn't so two dimensional that the game turned into Golden Axe. The gameplay wouldn't have changed much.

However, I found one glitch. Right after you get to Kirkwall, you fight some assasins. After beating the one with the largest lifebar, I looted the person's body (while the fight was still going on), taking the letter required to advance the plot. After the battle, I did not get a cutscene telling me to search the bodies, and I was not able to enter the Chantry (by talking to Isabella), even though the door was marked with a quest symbol. I had to restart the demo and make my way there again to continue...

Mages come in second, I really like the changes too. One problem with mages in Origins were most of the 'good' spells were friendly fire, and I never really liked playing on hard/nightmare for that reason. I didn't pay too close attention though so it might be the same, but at least you don't get knocked down for fireball. Also the cold spells (winter's Blast and Cone of Cold I think) were virtually useless, because the first one made quest updating take forever since the enemy stayed "frosted" for awhile which I guess didn't count as dead and Cone of Cold would always freeze your allies as well.
2H I felt was boring still, better than Origins but still boring.
I have yet to play S&S and Archer, which I am starting right now (also playing mage again since I skipped Bethamy dying because I thought it was always carver lol)

And to those saying the demo's graphics are an obvious improvement, sorry but I'm not seeing it, at least not in the texture department, though I believe there is a good reason for this, it's a demo which they have to keep the file size limited for downloading, though I do find the full game 7 gig a little sus.
What were you running it on and at what settings ? I've been playing the PC version with the DX11 renderer on high (SSAO turned off since it was messing uo the textures and frame rate) and it's noticibly improved as far as I can tell (and I was playing DA:O just before the demo to better compare the two). In particular, the hair and skin textures are far better. Check out Aveline's skin and Isabela's arms in particular (I know they're not the first thing your eyes get drawn to in her case

Pretty sure they said in the making of video that this was done so they could show us more/better visuals and stuff because if you recall, while fully zoomed out in DA:O, a lot of stuff wasn't even rendered such as the ceiling and trees, and looked rather stupid imo.Julien de Rainville wrote...
What I hated:
[*]No tactical/isometric view. This is my only major concern about the game. What made Origins so great was its deep strategy. We were told it would still be the case with Dragon Age 2 but without a good view of the battlefield it's very hard to have the same depth of gameplay. Aiming spells is a pain with the actual camera. I cannot begin to imagine how much worse it will be with friendly fire... Bioware, if it is at all possible, bring this back in a patch. You'll be loved by many for it. I feel like it may prevent many from enjoying this otherwise incredible game.
*waits for people to say "but the graphics aren't that good"*
I know I know, and I agree, if they want us to view more visuals they should also make the visuals look better.
Not to start a fight with you or anything, I understand your argument, but I disagree. We are going to see the visuals up close no matter what, if only for the conversations. And if you want to revel in the eye candy of the action, you could always zoom back in or not zoom out at all. I am actually concerned by the lack of ability to zoom out into a tactical view more than anything. I want the option, nobody is forced to use it. It seems a little dumb to me to force players to look at the character models closely, even in combat, to see how good they look.
A game not looking like the next Crysis, I can manage. But, a game that has reduced playability because of camera issues, I have a harder time dealing with.
Anyway, that's just me.

Kudos for the new skill-tree. It feels more practical and direct for reaching certain abilities than the old one. The one thing I didn't like about it (or the menus in general) was that they don't feel part of the game anymore. In DAO they were scrolls, they were part of the world. Now they look modern and stylized, and while they look great, they feel like they belong to something more similar to ME. Anyway, it's not that big of a deal.
Graphically it looks ok, a lot like ME, though I didn't like a lot the sky in the first map. I don't know why, but It seemed weird to me. But well, I'll have a better opinion when I play the rest of the game.
