Wrong, I have pretty big ones.  It's about realism.

Realism? Its not a "lifestyle simulator" or a sims game. Its a fantasy game with matrix-neo-style combat, and you're talking "realism" on breast sizes? How would you know anyway? Did you finish the game and measure every female character in the game and then compare the percentages to real world averages?

Or is everyone going off of Isabella? There were 5 female characters in the demo... Only isabella had the huge breasts. So what's the issue? In my high-school class there were 2 girls who looked like Isabella (out of 12 girls), so that sometimes happens. Its not like its super-rare.

If every female had isabella-sized-breasts, you might be onto somethign, but as it, I smell female gamers feel cattiness while playing the game.

Woah woah, calm down.  I was defending previous people's post.  I actually don't see what there seeing.  Only that Isabella was like that.  It is 150 pages though, so sorry. =P

The fact that you chose one of the worst Valve games as your example says a great deal about your gaming tastes and why you like this drivel.

OK, let's make something very clear that should be self-evident but has apparently gotten lost in the mire of butthurt over Dragon Age 2.

Games are for fun.

If someone is having fun playing a game, that's great.  That is the point of games.  It doesn't matter whether the game is World of Warcraft or Baldur's Gate or Dragon Age 2 or Pokemon.  If you're having fun, you're doing it right, and that's all that matters.

I happen to think TF2 was fun.  I also happen to think that Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Heavy Rain, PS:T, KOTOR, Uncharted 2, Civ V, World of Goo, Twilight Princess, World of Warcraft, God of War III, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Little Big Planet, Valkyria Chronicles, and Pokemon SoulSilver were fun.  And that's...pretty much all the depth or meaning there is in that.

I prefer to play for fun too but that isn't the goal of all gamers for a game like this. Some want immersion and that is not "doing it wrong", it's preference.

Ok, i played demo one more time and i (as usually) had luck to do something weird..

The battle when Bethany dies: I fight with the ogre and i escape the battlefield, i kill all darkspawn and get points. Everybody exept my sister appears. We go back and there is no ogre.. So where is he?

On the ground i find Bethany's body and.. it talks to me..

I hope ogre will finally appear..

In real life i cannot produce fire from my hands, or do a double front flip while attacking a enemy with daggers, also there are not any shapeshifting witches in real life, complaining about the ratio of chest to girl in a game clearly not centered about realism is kind of pointless.

I think its more about insecurity among female players, than realism. Its not like every female character looks like that... Only some. And that's true in real life.

And there are women like Isabelle in the realword... actually...  and many women hate these too.^^

Funny conversation... *smirks*

Thank you for taking my relevant opinion and discussion point and somehow twisting it into a predictable "You juss jellus" post.  I admire your maturity.

My issue is not with breasts or the many different types and sizes other women like me have.  My issues is that there is a serious amount of booby overkill in DA2.  It's distracting to me.  Literally as Momhawke was leaned over crying I simply couldn't see or hear anything other than "titstitstitstitstits."    Someone brought up Morrigan earlier - and sure she was a sexed up, large breasted sultry character, but I never for a second felt like there is no way a person in real life could ever look like that without looking like a really weird human being.

It simply detracts from any sort of realism for me.

Hey, every fetish/orientation is okay in bioware games, but big breasts are somehow a big no-no?
If some of you get to bone elves up their bottoms, why can't the rest have giant breasts for education purposes?

The PS3 demo was good overall, I continue to look forward to the release of the game. The major concern for me was the button mashing... it's too bad that there is no way to "auto attack" so that once you'd engaged a target by targeting them and pressing x or another attack option you'd just keep doing basic attacks until you activated a special attack, disengaged or targeted another enemy, repetitively pressing x made me feel like I was playing a platformer or something... I've heard that in the full game this will be a toggle on the console versions? I certainly hope that's the case. It's a little hard to disengage to strategize your party when you feel compelled to keep mashing x. Hopefully I will prefer the gameplay when this toggle becomes available. We shall see.

So after a couple more play throughs... I'm becoming less optimistic...

I was a fan of the ME1 and ME2 dialogue wheel, I was in general optimistic about it's implementation in DA2, but as others have pointed out the voice acting between the different types of choices is very inconsistent.. it's sounds like a different person between the peaceful, sarcastic and harsh responses... it's over done, I'm really very surprised no one at Bioware caught this.

The other thing that is over done, besides breast sizes which has already been commented on, are the combat animations... The first time through I was too busy button mashing on my warrior to get too upset by the fire shooting out of my feet and my character being tractor beamed to the fray like I was playing Street Fighter, or heaven forbid Final Fantasy... the mage on my third play through was even worse, what happened to a high fantasy flavour imbued by the mage tower? Now we have baton twirling teenie boppers where we once has brave souls who interfaced with the fade... it's quite sad, to have such a great unique IP penetrated by such common japan-amation themes. Big blue eyes and and bangs across them... <gag>. I don't mind some of it, I get it, the need to appeal to a broad based audience, Flemeth's new look doesn't bother me so much.. but overall if this is what's meant by a "new artistic direction" I think it's overdone, too drastic a move, in my opinion... why be like every other RPG maker out there when you could be unique, why give up a style that was uniquely Bioware?

It won't be an awful game but I'm no longer naively hoping it will live up to it's successor. It will be a market success like ME2 was and it will also leave many of us sad as ME2 did as well.

I wonder how the devs are feeling about this polarized feedback...kind of a love it or hate thing going right now. I also wonder how many people will "just get use to it and luv it" eventually. I really did not like DA:O at first but after a few hours I started to settle in and ended up really loving the game.

Thats exactly how I was with Origins, it took me at least one playthrough before it all clicked, and i knew what I was doing and actually being able to do the fade in the circle tower in under a few hours.

If you have to playthrough a game once to "get it" then that seems like bad design, doesn't it?

No it doesn't, but then i dont religiously sit on the forum vacuuming up every aspect of information. When I got Origins I had only heard about it on the web, and had no idea what it was like.

I remember doing the circle tower and it took me ages to do the fade, until I read on the forums what to do, after a couple of times I was down to just over an hour for the fade.

Okay, fair point and we'll hold you to that.

The problem is tha there are LOTS of generic button-mashers.

There are VERY FEW real RPGS.

So changing a much-loved RPG into a generic button-masher is going to upset a few fans.

Why not just accept that?  Why defend it to the death?

Seriously,
guys.  If the Call of Duty developers said 'hmm, I think what the next
game needs is more dialogue and slow character development' don't you
think a few fans might be upset?

I understand what your saying, but we were warned of this a year ago.  The complaints then I get, the complaints now... well, they've been telling us what kind of game this was going to be for a long while, I don't get the OMG! reactions.

As I mentioned above, I'm an old gamer whose played all the Infinity games and still have them all on my computer.  I still enjoy them, but I would be disappointed if they were released today.  I loved the Witcher too and can't wait for the second one.  It's ok to like different games for what they bring to the table - To me, Bioware is a storyteller and I have yet to be let down by that - I can't think of a Bioware release where there wasn't some issue I had with the gameplay.  I don't need nor want every game to be hardcore old school RPG.

I think the point is though, there are alot of games in the action/rpg mold, there are very few - if any - old school
CRPG in the mold of Baldur's gate being released.  I don't have any problems with action RPGs, but there's alot of those games out there. It's just unfortunate that we'lll likely not see a new RPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate again.

Friendly fire only on Hardcore difficulty? Yes, that is a major problem!

Friendly fire makes the game more fun, IMO--more RPG like, more strategic. But just because I want to have more fun, doesn't necessarily mean that I want the game to be "harder" too (in regards to monster's stats).

So that makes two complaints IMO: Restrictive Zoom, and the above.

But again, everything else: GREAT!

So just my two pennies about the demo... (for PC)

Pro:
+Sound recording is good, it's nice to hear "yourself"
+It's good that they got rid of the really long combat manuevers (the ones with the slow filling bar on top of the char)
+fast looting
+seems to be a nice story (as nearly always with bioware games)

Con
- I don't really like the combat system, especially the animations, everything is just a little bit to fast.
- It seems you can't really miss anymore
- the gui is horrible, two much streamlined, strange behaviour when clicking the char icons (especially in leveling up)
- char models look strange, things on the chars look very much painted on, armor doesn't look like it's a 3d-model on its own.
-Graphics didn't really improve (I "only" have a DX10.1 Card)
-the lack of the bird eye camera is a huge blow in my opinion.
-It really screams "I was specially made for console" (I liked it that they overworked DAO for PC even so that meant it came out some month later)

So all in all I liked DA:O much more.
Especially that it was slower and more "old school" rpg (like Customize your whole party the way you wanted)  I hope they will change some things back in next DA Parts, so that it feels more like BG classic rpg again.
O well I think it is the Mass Effect that hit this game. :crying:
Probably will cancel my pre order and will wait until the game gets cheaper 'cause I don't want to miss the story.
Cheers

The days of depth and Advanced D&D are gone, In only ten years the genre has been completely destroyed by the mother loving mainstream and the low tech consoles. All that exists are shooter and hack&slash hybrids, with bare bone leveling systems and cinematic dialogue sequences. Very Sad.

I agree, I jumped into gaming around this time, whenthose games were ending, and I now find my self going back playing those instead of buying new titles like fable or something,

I also think the majority of the dislike for the new one is because it is so differant, when I felt Da:O was just fine.

Also combat, while yes it is basically the same, the changes made a big impact, in dragon age origins, if I were dumb I would work my self into an unescapable corner and die, yet in the demo, as a warrior at least, I realized this wasn't the case, as I would hit run run back hit again and run and because the combat has been streamed line like this,  it is possible, unlike in DA;O where , I couldn't do that, it was delayed, to much that it didn't work.
I dont think nightmare mode will fix this unless it makes npcs run and react faster.
I also don't think it makes much sense, you are a soldier right, a man who barely gets out of the slaughter yet here you are slaughtering hundreds of darkspawn like it nothing, yet with my grey warden, it seemed harder, and like there was less, I do not get that.
Still I get it, just in hopes the story and lore will be great.

Just finished the demo ... must admit, was put off a bit by the new default view. I much prefer a further-out, tactical view, also makes plotting team tactics easier. Some of the character animations are a bit over the top, too - I don't really need a production number when taking down darkspawn, especially when you've seen the same moves dozens of times in previous battles.

Other than those gripes ... awesome! Great graphics, overall fun gameplay, and the narrative looks like it's going to be really entertaining. Pre-ordered it on steam, based on what I saw here.

I've finally managed to finish the demo without crashing. In having to play through the early parts a few times due to the crashes, I got to experiment with picking other options on the dialogue wheels.

As I feared, it is always a surprise what Hawke will say and do when picking an option - the paraphrase and logo simply give far too little information to properly pick a dialogue choice. As a result the dialogues feel more like a movie, and less like me interacting personally with NPCs. :(

Also, the camera turned out to be a bigger enemy than any of the enemies. I just couldn't zoom out far enough to get a good view of what's happening, with many things happening off-screen as a result. Which isn't good for planning and executing tactics.

It was concealed by normal difficulty being so ridiculously easy, but playing on Nightmare I want to be able to see what's going on at all times. I could in DA:O. I cannot in DA2.

Hopefully a proper tactical camera will be patched or modded in soon after release - it would make the game much better playable.

Also, I hope NPCs on Nightmare will be aware of friendly fire, I don't want my party members stabbing each other and me to death when I'm not directly controlling them.

Some people have fetishes for smaller breasts too, yet you won't see that in most video games.

I mean don't post at me like I'm an idiot. No, no one can throw a fireball in real life or any of that fantasy stuff. I'm well aware of that. And I'm sure Isabella is an awesome character with a great backstory and dialogue and I'll come to love her.

I am simply put off by having to endure from BioWare the blatant catering to this new audience of "bigger is better" - whether it's blood or boobs or magic or explosions or what have you.

It is my personal opinion that the body types of the women in the game were laughably distracting and I found myself asking "seriously? But...seriously?" That's all.

I must I absolutely love what i saw in DA2. I tried out both voice actors and found I liked the Female voice actor better. The Male Hawke voice comes off as a douche to me, British accent doesnt fit his character i must say. Not that the Female voice actor didnt have problems but ones i can overlook by far compared to the Male voice actor.

It felt like sampling the best dish ever, like a full plate and being force not to finish the meal. Thats how awesome I thought the demo was.

Because some of us are optimists and thought some of the RPG elements might have survived.

Seeing the outrageous anime combat pretty much killed off my optimism.  It's one thing BW telling you they are changing it to an action game -  it's another when you start playing a particularly bad action game.

Having just completed the demo, these  are  my  thoughts:

The interface is awful, and I hate using such hyperbolic terms to describe things.   It isnt as aestetically pleasing as DAO, but that I can live with.  What is pretty  to one is not to  another.

The parts I cannt stand are:  When  trying to level up a character I click in and out of the screen, or when I click on them in combat I click on the level up thing.  What happened to that nice separate plus sign?  I liked that a lot better.  This new UI  feauture is a step  backwards in form and function.

What happened  to the tab key showing me how many enemies  there were and what their health was at a moments glance.  I  now have  to mouse over them  to see how many and what the health is?  Once again this is much worse  than DAO.  It will prolong combat and make  things tedious.  I think  this takes a step backwards again in function.

The auto attack is also much  too quick.  I understand wanting faster combat and I agree, but a third of a second is not long enough  to wait between attacks.

These were  my three main issues, I will replay it some more and give more  feedback
