I hear that Isabela's boobs are 50% bigger in the euro version and that the violence is off the charts in the NA version.

Why are so many people (I'm guessing female forum members?) whining about breast sizes? The truth is only a percentage of the game women have the huge breasts. Now if a good 50% had them, you might have a legitimate gripe... But as is, only some characters do.

They're not cartooney unrealistic looks (in that women like that dont't exist), no, its merely a rare look, maybe 1 in 30 women looks like that. I know, because I have two female friends from high school who look like isabella. Same physique and breast-size

For the record, Im a woman and the breast sizes dont bother me.  Its just another aspect of the character, certainly not something I think one should have serious concerns with.  I also dont think people should judge the demo as being the same as the final product.  I have always been very happy will all bioware products, and for the hardcore prg enthusiests out there, I dont think any rpg game computer or console will ever top pen & paper Dungeons and
dragons. Now thats true rpg gaming!!  LOL B)

I wonder how the devs are feeling about this polarized feedback...kind of a love it or hate thing going right now. I also wonder how many people will "just get use to it and luv it" eventually. I really did not like DA:O at first but after a few hours I started to settle in and ended up really loving the game.

Thats exactly how I was with Origins, it took me at least one playthrough before it all clicked, and i knew what I was doing and actually being able to do the fade in the circle tower in under a few hours.

If you have to playthrough a game once to "get it" then that seems like bad design, doesn't it?

No it doesn't, but then i dont religiously sit on the forum vacuuming up every aspect of information. When I got Origins I had only heard about it on the web, and had no idea what it was like.

I remember doing the circle tower and it took me ages to do the fade, until I read on the forums what to do, after a couple of times I was down to just over an hour for the fade.

I am not sure what your response has to do with what I said.

I'll give you an example of what I said. Final Fantasy XIII  was said to "open up and improve" after 30 hours and that is correctly considered a failure, you should not have to play through most of the game before you start to understand and/or enjoy it. If you do then that is a design flaw. Easy to learn, hard to master is a winning formula.

wow.what a backlash!i enjoyed the demo but i really feel for bioware with all the negative feedback they're getting.some people even abandoning bioware games!

There was more backlash when they chose to play a Marilyn Manson song for a DAO promo.
All those hardcore gamers who were stomping their feet and saying BioWare sold DAO out to the console kiddies.

Honestly although it seems loud it's a lot of the same folks posting over and over and creating new accounts for the purpose of complaining.

I'm really disappointed that people are drawing lines in the sand, particularly when implying that all people who loved DAO are going to be butt-hurt over the changes they made with DA2. I loved DAO. My excitement over what I saw in this demo doesn't somehow diminish how much I enjoyed the first game.

I also don't get the comparisons with ME2. I love ME2, still replaying it, but the DA2 demo feels much more like DAO on pep-pills. Also, I believe the complaints that this is just an action game and not an rpg are heavily influenced by the nature of the demo. Bioware obviously decided to focus more time in the demo on letting us get our hands dirty in combat rather than sitting around and talking to people. While I would have liked to see more of how I could make my character interact with others, I can understand their decision to place their focus elsewhere. Agree with it? Not really. But I understand it.

I'm curious to play through the Xbox demo - it seems that many of the complaints are coming from the console players, more so than the PC players. I've seen it suggested that if you didn't like the console version, give the PC demo a try. Perhaps the combat just didn't translate as well there. That doesn't really effect me though. I play most of my games on PC for a reason.

BREASTS, BREASTS, BREASTS, ok got that out of my system so I am now an impartial male. I don't mind big breasts as long as it doesn't impact the design of the character. Big breasts distract men, fact, but anybody worth their salt can see past, no, WANTS to see past that and have a character who is multidimensional. Not just the two perfect, round, juicy, wobbly, bouncy, rippling, godlyngngggghhhhhhhh.............dimensions.

I really wanted to like Dragon Age 2, but I think I'm going to be cancelling my preorder and buying the Witcher 2 instead.

I've bought every bioware game since before they were bioware.

I bought Dragon Age on release day with my Limited Edition preorder.  I bought all the DLC, even the total garbage (which was most of it, sorry guys...)

I loved Mass Effect and didn't really seem to mind the changes in Mass Effect 2 as much as some people so I'm not sure how to describe all the things that I dislike about the game.

I guess the dialogue wheel felt out of place for me in the setting.  The summary thing to me is a step backwards.  It's like you might as well just have a happy, silly, angry smiley face.  Or just cut dialogue and embrace making a Dynasty Warriors in a dragon age setting.  The game plays like a really clunky action game, or a very simplified RPG.  I have been a dungeon master of my gaming group in pen and paper DnD, so I've always enjoyed playing a game where I can appreciate all the nuances of encounter design that goes into making great dungeons and starships and whatever to fight on.

The RPG stat side of things feels like we're a step away from using "xp" to unlock cool new finishing moves or counters. A great example would be the Return of the King hack and slash from PS2, which I enjoyed immensely.  I wouldn't even mind if they tried that, but it feels like they are trying to do too many things for too many people.

The UI is really simplified but I don't like the look of it.  It seems ugly.  There's a lot less feedback during combat.  Lack of friendly fire and just constantly spamming attacks are supposed to be streamlined, but I just felt like I was button mashing to get to the next quicktime event.

I have a really powerful gaming PC and the game ran really choppily.  I'm sure they're "working on a patch" but the release date is way too close for me to risk it.  Bioware still hasn't patched signifigant issues from the first Dragon Age so I'm not going to hold my breath.

At least you're not as bad as DICE.

I'm not attacking people who enjoyed it.  Seems like about 7 out of 10 people really like the demo.  I'm sure that means they will sell 700,00 copies on release day and make a bunch of DLC for it and make a ton of money.

I'll be waiting for Mass Effect 3.

Funny conversation... *smirks*

There are women like Isabela in the real world. I know several. Most of them have had reduction surgery, covered by insurance, because large breasts + small frame  often = crippling back pain.

Some people have fetishes for smaller breasts too, yet you won't see that in most video games.

I mean don't post at me like I'm an idiot. No, no one can throw a fireball in real life or any of that fantasy stuff. I'm well aware of that. And I'm sure Isabella is an awesome character with a great backstory and dialogue and I'll come to love her.

I am simply put off by having to endure from BioWare the blatant catering to this new audience of "bigger is better" - whether it's blood or boobs or magic or explosions or what have you.

It is my personal opinion that the body types of the women in the game were laughably distracting and I found myself asking "seriously? But...seriously?" That's all.

I know, I actually share your opinion... Was just trolling a bit.

But it's probably because of all the lyrium, body fat gets concentrated in the chest area :D

EDIT: As for the fetishes, people should really search for that in porn, not cRPG-s. Not that DA2 is a cRPG - it's an action game, like ME2.

I was a fan of the ME1 and ME2 dialogue wheel, I was in general optimistic about it's implementation in DA2, but as others have pointed out the voice acting between the different types of choices is very inconsistent.. it's sounds like a different person between the peaceful, sarcastic and harsh responses... it's over done, I'm really very surprised no one at Bioware caught this.

Ahh, that was what I was hearing there ... I knew something was wrong. Thanks for pointing that out, at least in the Demo it already caught me like "that is not the voice I heared before".

My major beef is just the ridiculous style they incorporated with the battles It seems a little juvenile with the teleporting back stabs, exploding darkspawn, and the mini pauses after each swing. I prefer the more brutal conan like slaying that the first one had. It seemed that physics actually applied, with the momentum of swings and weapons actually having weight to them.

DA2 is like they took their style from a Devil May Cry game, which apparently quite a few people like. I for one, don't like it so much.

Will it keep me from buying the game? Nah, but i'll probably wait for a discount on steam a year later, because it's not quite the rpg title that I fell in love with.

Seems to be a trend with Bioware and me. Loved ME and replayed it 3 times, however, Kinda like ME2 and only played though once. Played DA:O 3 times, but I imagine I will only play DA2 once.

You guys seriously complaining about ****** in a video game? Nice...

I think it's more about realism then actually complaining about size.

Wrong, I have pretty big ones.  It's about realism.

For me, it isn't just about realism (tho that is part of it). It's about the game feeling like an extension of a boy's club and this is only reinforced when the main females you interact with have the physique of animated porn stars. One curvy female in your party is all cool...but EVERY female you spend any time with is stretching it.

I still haven't figured out what was wrong with Isabel's looks in DA:O. She was hot stuff in leathers with that attitude of hers. Now she looked like a pirate out of "Pirates of the Carribean" and, either can't...or won't steal herself some pants!

-PC

-Overall: From what I can tell it seems that 2 has all the good in it from origins and improves on the original in pleasant ways.

-Combat: I'd like to see an auto-target, auto attack toggle. Its rather hard to play in real time having to click on targets with the mouse. I use the number pad for my spells, wasd for movement, and only use the mouse on occasion. I realize most people dont play this way, but regardless, I still think it would be a nice feature to help the real time experience.

-Technical: I had to use force stereo on my speakers in order to hear the dialog. It worked fine after that. I always get dialogue problems in the Mass Effect games as well.

Very good job guys. Looking forward to release.

I though combat took too long and was very boring with how normal darkspawn had mountains of HP, however I imagine playing on Easy or Casual will fix that. Other then that, as a woman I dont mind the big breasts, i've known plenty of women for real with even bigger racks then Isabella. Besides, since DA 1 shes been a sexpot, its her character or did the threesome and foursomes in DA 1 with her not give this away to some people?

As for the rest of the demo, I thought it was great, my only real complaint is no Gamepad support for the PC Version or the Auto Attack Feature, the controls on the PC are just bad. some of the console conventions on the PC version would be great.

SOME people just play RPGs for fun and immersion in the story and gameworld not try to prove they are "l33t d00ds".

As I mentioned above, I'm an old gamer whose played all the Infinity games and still have them all on my computer.  I still enjoy them, but I would be disappointed if they were released today.  I loved the Witcher too and can't wait for the second one.  It's ok to like different games for what they bring to the table - To me, Bioware is a storyteller and I have yet to be let down by that - I can't think of a Bioware release where there wasn't some issue I had with the gameplay.  I don't need nor want every game to be hardcore old school RPG.

I think the point is though, there are alot of games in the action/rpg mold, there are very few - if any - old school
CRPG in the mold of Baldur's gate being released.  I don't have any problems with action RPGs, but there's alot of those games out there. It's just unfortunate that we'lll likely not see a new RPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate again.

Fair enough.  On the flip side, I have the feeling the DA2 is going to be a lot closer to what people were expecting when you play it on Hard and Insanity - Minus the camera issue, but people will get used to that.  DAO was silly eary on Normal mode where there was no need to utilize your party, DA2 is the same with quicker animations.

For those saying things like: Don't judge the full game by the demo.

Doesn't that kind of attitude apply to both those who loved it and those who didn't? Doesn't that kind of attitude make this entire thread pointless? Doesn't that make the existence of the demo pointless?

Bioware didn't release the demo just to waste bandwidth folks. It's so players can get a feel for the game and hopefully decide to buy it. In other words, you're supposed to use the demo to judge the full game.

Alright, on that aspect Origins was a royal pain, UNTIL I realised what I should be doing - in context I got the hang of the DA2 demo extremely quickly.

Easy to learn, hard to master may actually get it left on the shelf though, i like a challenge, but i'm not a 'pause every 4 seconds' type of person.

Overall I liked it. On the very positive side, it runs smoothly on my aging PC laptop from 2007 on Medium graphics.

But:

The targeting (PC version) seems really imprecise. The cursor is big and the enemies barely glow when you mouse over them. When they are clustered together it's very difficult to figure out which one you're highlighting.

The pace of the combat is way too frantic, and feels like an old 1920's silent comedy movie... Keystone Cops or something. I appreciate a faster pace, but it's just silly here how fast they made it -- looks almost comical.

The forced "hallway" layout sucked, but I know it's just a demo.

I like it and will buy it.

The running animation, at least on the female champion, looks somewhat strange and a bit unnatural. Isabela has floating swords on her back, which also looks a bit silly.

Outside of that...

HOLY LEAPING BASSET HOUNDS BATMAN!

I'm so glad I pre-ordered when the first announcement was made.

If it's possible to play it with a controller on the PC I might actually consider it. Need to look into the key-bindings.
