Agreed, this is going to play a lot differently from the demo on the higher difficulties and a lot closer to what people were expecting. DAO was easy on Normal as well without the need of utilizing your party.Invalidcode wrote...
Combat: Lots of people are saying DA2 doesn't play like a RPG at all? Hit, miss, damage, armor, buff debuff CC are still there, and judge by the demo those are still based on your states. Animation looks very flashy but it is follow by 'normal' RPG rules. Don't get misguided by the flashy and seeming fast animation people!
Skills: You can mash, for now, during the demo which is locked at 'Normal'. Chances are during 'Hard' & 'Nightmare' the player would need to manage the use of skills, magic and their CD. FF should present I bet?

BioWare is no longer a maker of RPGs. The tragedy is that they used to be a titan in the genre but they decided to cater to the console crowd.
Oh, and Isabella's breasts are cartoonish and ridiculous. Kind of like something you see in a Hustler comic strip. I suggest you stop letting the pervs in your design team model the female characters. That would be a start.
Another franchise has been 'consolized'.

I am glad I didnt pre-ordered DA 2 because it dont feels like a rpg game anymore..more like a hack n slash action game.
How is this an action game? There are abilities you can use, you can pause the game, upgrade items. Change your characters looks, choose what you say. This is not an action game like God of war. This is the same as origins except faster combat.

They looked AWFUL - like low quaity VHS movies from the 80's.
Bioware.....please.....1080p or just don't bother.
Also, in the full game will you be able to change weapons on the fly like in Origins? e.g. Rogue changing from daggers to bow with the press of a button. Really annoyed me you couldn't do this in the demo.

Anyone have the same problem?

Well, that makes me feel a little better. I hope using DX10 (via DX11) will improve the graphics.

It felt more like a bad JRPG to me... I didn't seem to have any real control over what was occuring. Although I could say things in a different way, it always had the same general meaning and always got basically the same response. More specifically, I couldn't approve or disapprove of what was occuring around me, couldn't suggest or persuade for different actions to occur; I was just an observer and occasional commentator. It was surreal knowing something so restricting was taking place in the same fictional universe where I previously had so much control.

But then my spirits were back up when I watched the video walkthrough on gamespot. They were much further in the game, and it involved a lot cooler dialogue, travelling, and the combat was more strategic because there were more skills involved (already developed). There is more of a story and its a lot deeper/cooler.
I think the demo should have more realistically been called the "early-game combat demo"

I agree with your post. I will point out that, as I mentioned before, that I think the fact that this game is barely more than a year after when DA:O was released, tells me it was rushed (they wanted to cash in on the Origins love while they could). In fact, if I can find it, I will post where an official BIoware rep here even stated they decided on DA2 when they saw how well Origins was selling, that they almost were surprised at how well it was doing. Games of high quality and huge scope (like most RPGs are in scope anyway) take a few years to develop, let alone a year. Had they just stuck with the same engine, graphics style and personality conversation system (where you guess how the other person is), they may have gotten more out it than this. I probably will buy it because of curiosity, but I am wary to say the least. This could eb the first time Bioware ever let me down.

1. Camra does not fallow chatare movments this meas that the chater movent does not corspond to camra angel so you charater can move in just about any direction unles you use the right mouse button to get your charater and cmra facing the same way. It feels like I am fighting the camra more then darkspawen.
2. Exsisive loading even with a high end PC the game often stops to load this is vary annying. I have 6gb of ram maby the game might use more then 2gig and get rid of the loading lag.
3. Dispite all the tiwiling jumping and dancing the charater do combat is very simple and lacking depth or tactics.
I will wate till the game is in the bargen bin to buy it. This demo shows that it is not a bad game but not a good one eather it is veray medocer

wow dumbed down, button mashing mess, messed up dialogue and interesting story gone!!! wow just wow ,it's a slice and a very small slice of the pie at that and what a nice pie it is.Lets's see all those comments reversed when the full experience is in hand:)Dragon Age lives on it just might be a case in future of losing a few fans ,you can't please everybody:)
interesting story gone? People don't even know anything storywise beyond what Bioware has already shown and/or told us! How can people say there is no story, when they themselves know nothing new regarding it?

Again, folks. Breast size discussion. Cut it out.
Hmm, is not a discussion about why this game sadly slavishly continues the trend of hypersexualising female characters ( by way of giving them large breast sizes ) in games ( in a way that male characters are not hypersexualised ) a valid discussion to have ?
That discussion is not sexist surely ?
And that the only spokespersons we have seen or heard for the game ( designers, writers etc ) are men ? Perhaps that hints at why games still can't break that particular sexist design cycle.

True enough. Although I found the demo reassuring in regards to the combat, the things I wanted to test most happened to be the things that turned out to be locked, namely character creation.AlekNovy wrote...

Half of the writing team are female, actually.

Both of these: indeed. Not being able to try out the character creation and being thrown into combat as a first impression with nary a bit of preceding dialogue contributed to my initial horrified impression of the game. I'm sure it's not representative of the final product, however.
At least, I really, *really* hope it's not.

I mean I didn't really see the epic scale of dragon age until I heard Leliana's song in the camp.
Since this was mostly a introduction as well as showing off combat I'll say this:
Really liked the rogue's hand to hand combat, big improvement. Esp liked the stun jar ability where you kick the jar towards the enemy group. The abilites have gotten a bit clearer to see what they do but I do not see a pursuade ability which I as a player like too much to let go. The story has some intresting aspects from what I can tell, the apostate-chantry conflict will be very intresting see. And seeing that Flemeth ensures that she gets her way is always entertaining.
I still however do not see the grand scale of things which the first dragon age had. Hopefully it will be sucessful.
P.S. More dwarf love!

The faster paced combat complete with doing away with the goofy fatality deathblows, the new art style and even the new chat wheel are all things i feel are a step in the right direction.
I cant wait till i can play the full retail version.

Whole internet is saying the exact same thing as I am about: Bioware, I am disappointed in you guys. From the looks of the demo, it is apparent that everything was designed for consoles in mind, NOT pc. The graphics are also a downgrade from the first one in comparison. I have played DA Origins like 10 times and would still play it over and over again because it is apparent that you guys really did put some work in it but this one seems to be a total let down, from main character voices to graphics. So...... it looks like it's going to be witcher 2 for me.
Once again you guys disappoint me.
Umm well actually not really. Most bioware fans like this game, go on the polls and see which is winning, the i love DA2 option or i hate DA2. Its just that the people who like DA2 are either stunned by the idiocie of the haters or are just happy about the game and are moving on. The haters however are just whining on this forum because they have nothing better to do. Im seriously starting to get angry. Its one thing to not like the demo but its another thing to hate on it while you are incorrect and say oh im no longer your fan bioware. I mean seriously, im getting angry at all theese haters.

You know, when you start complaining about 100% of the men in fantasy-games comic-land having six-packs year-round and expected to have 25inch biceps (and increasing every year), then you have a right to complain. Every year more and more teenagers are victims of the adonis complex (kids overdosing on drugs trying to get the comic look, thinking it attracts women, starving themselves to get sixpacks etc). So don't give me any of that "sexism" bs. People are not buying that stuff anymore.
The whole attacking companies with PC-made-up charges is just getting old. Leave bioware alone.
(Epler: this is my last post on the subject, apologies to epler again. I couldn't let this provocation slide.).
