Dragon Age 2 Demo feedback thread

First and foremost I'd like to say thank you to the entire Dragon Age development team for the improved combat and the quick, responsive controls. Hacking through Darkspawn has never been more fun. I also loved the counterbalance of hacking and slashing through enemies and then needing to use some form of strategy when taking on the larger group of Darkspawn with the Ogre, it was a nice touch to show just how variable the combat can be.
As expected the taste we got of the VA's and the dialogue was excellent. Also giving us a sample of the framed narrative was nice, I think it'll be a fantastically creative way to tell the story of our Champion.
I actually liked the graphics. Everything so far felt new but familiar, which is all I wanted out this sequel. I also loved the new hair models for female characters, which was something that always slightly irked me in the last game. So thank you for that!
If I did have one problem, which a few people have mentioned, it would be the text size. I played it on a 48" HD-TV and even then I still had to strain to read some of the writing in the loading screens.
Looking forward to March 8th!

my goddamn download has failed twice now and had to restart....guess they weren't such a "naysayer" afterall.
I mean it's expected..naturally..still annoying as hell....would like to actually GET this demo.
but at least you guys succeeded at locking a thread since, once again, your downloader is crap

lulz at the haters. their problem if they're gonna miss out on this
Theres nothing to miss out. I've played Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale hundreds of time and this game just doesnt compare.
Im pretty sure that people who like this game havnt ever played baldurs gate.
Its nothing but a simplistic point, click, enemy dead. Point, click, enemy dead game.
Boring.
It doesnt matter to me one bit if this is the direction that Bioware choose to take, there will be plenty of great RPGs emerging on the Indie market instead, like the magnificent recently released Magicka, plus Witcher II is also out soon, then theres Guild Wars 2 and Diablo III around the corner.

The combat was fun, but only with the warrior and the mage. Rogue is way too face-paced for me with his flips, jumps and rolls. Don't like that.
One downer was, that Flemeth doesn't have her voice actor from Origins. Male Hawke has the va from Zevran. So I couldn't identify with him. ( They changed the translation studio for some reasons) But they did an amazing job on Ladyhawkes voice, love it.

All and all, it is worth the wait of the download, and I can't wait for the real game launching day. Dragon Age 2 promises to be an awesome game.

I like the overall changes done to the classes, and skills, but the AI is really lacking. (I played on the PC),
There were moments where the NPCs were just standing around and not participating in combat if I wasn't micromanaging them frequently. Not to mention spamming skills that miss the enemy completely, even when there were no enemies near them.
I hope the AI won't be like this when the game comes out.
There were some awkward moments in the dialogue, lines
weren't delivered well and came across flat.
Hmm yeah I didn't even notice it really because I was generally the one switching to Beth to have her cast Heal or casting it myself, but I had Heal on the tactics line when ally was at 50% health and...they weren't casting it. Beth would liberally cast fireball whenever enemies were grouped but Heal was a no go.

It is the same Flemeth in the english version. Surprised me to see Cousland's mother as Hawke's mother too.

Yes, fine, you don't like the game, now go away and play Planescape Torment on your 486. This thread is for feedback, not incessant whining. Your first post was quite enough: it contained your opinion of the demo. The End.Bhav wrote...

Not in the translated German version. It sounded unknown to me, so I checked the forums.

I don't think it zooms out far enough, and I much prefer using the right mouse button to pan the camera around. It feels more intuitive.

VO in english is spot on though.

Liked:
Most of it. Really, I did. It's Dragon Age.
Disliked/Annoyed:
- Camera is too damn close. And I didn't even use the full isometric view in Origins. Usually was halfway through and I could see much better than DA2. Is that really the max zoom out or didn't you include it?
-Cut-scenes with loading times between them. They're small, but still annoying. Really cuts the immersion. If they're going to be in the game, please reduce their time.
