[*]Do potions have a cooldown? Most of my party's casualties were due to the fact that I was ordering them to drink a potion but they wouldn't do it and just started doing something else. If there's a cooldown, maybe the potion icons should reflect that? In the demo the icon always stays the same.
[*]The auto-attack in the demo seems to supercede the command to drink a potion. My one party death was from constantly switching to a character, selecting potion, and switching back only to find Derp still swining his weapon around.
That might be one case, but I specifically remember removing all aggro from a character at one point, getting him to the other side of the battlefield, where he was completely free of attackers, and he just stood there ignoring my drink commands.
Anyway, good to know I wasn't the only one with those issues!

I love the new combat system, and I'm looking foward to my character and interacting with the party members (romances too).
Dragon Age (and now I hope DA2) is the only game every to surpass Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights.

Oh well, didn't preorder, so nothing lost. At least I'll always have origins and am able to look forward to old republic.

I, for one, very much enjoyed the demo. I like that the regular combat attacks are more visually interesting, but my absolute favorite change is that you can actually evade attacks by moving away from someone. It was most apparent in the ogre battle. I hated in DA:O when the Ogre would lower it's shoulder and I would move away, yet the charge attack would still hit me no matter where I was.
Not always. Was playing the rogue. When the ogre was reading for charge I hit the backstab skill expecting to get behind him to safety. I did "teleported", backstabbed him and then get knockedback by his charge in the direction I no longer was, getting teleported again in front of him.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, I didn't read through all 170 or so pages, but did anyone else notice the way Isabela's weapons where attached to her back (or not attached)? Those daggers where hovering at least a foot behind her, it really stood out in the cutscenes. I didn't see the same problem with Hawke, is it just because of the skimpy outfit she is wearing? Surely it should be possible to just put them a little closer to her back, I don't remember it being this bad even in Origins.
not to disagree, i did notice, but i may just be in the demo and could have been fixed in the retail version.

I'm pretty sure it's the same in the release version. I believe I read in a thread some time back that it wasn't going to be changed from the way it worked in DA:O

European street date for retailers is always on a Friday. In the states, it's a Tuesday. Since the U.S. currently repressents ~47-49% of video game purchases (very much down from even a decade ago) it usually gets it first. There's also a tradition of making a game then translating it, making continental video games historically come out much later than 3 days after U.S. release... like months. That, too, has shortened as the European market has grown.
Some games come out in Europe first, on their Friday, then Tuesday in the U.S. It's rare, though. I can't remember the last game to do that. It was a somewhat major release.
Very big retailers will forgoe that and force brick 'n' mortar retailers to all release on the same date worldwide. The game has to have serious buying power, like Modern Warfare or WoW, for that to happen though. Otherwise, it's a standard release, even for digital distribution, because brick 'n' mortar will complain if digital distribution gets an 'unfair advantage.'
Interesting Aside: The Japanese gaming market only represent ~7-8% of game purchases since gen 7. This tends to not be in accordance with how people view the Japanese gaming market, and is a big reason why they're all going crazy over there about recent video game developments.

I hope that the Dragon Age team understand that if he decided resolutely follow the dictates of mass effect, they take into account these extremely important points:
Voices immersive different, depending on options.
Expressions on the faces, moods, gestures that truly capture the emotional thinking of the character.
Textures worked, especially the characters.
Just, look Liara in Mass Effect 1, each scene with her is a real treat for the eyes. It's so alive when she speaks. The game was released in 2007, an unforgettable performance.
In short, for DA3, especially those working points for the cinematics.
That's all.

So about the enemy health bar.
It does show up when you pause in this video its XBox360 version.
But in PC Demo it does not.
In the PC version they show up if you hover your cursor over them while paused.

Yeah but in Origins on the PC all you had to do was press tab for the enemy names and health to be displayed. Its just less user friendly and more cumbersome now to have to mouse over each individual enemy to see their health to determine who to go after. Its a pain.

Greatswords are exactly the same size they were in DAO.
Are you sure they aren't broader or something? At some points, it feels like something outta Final Fantasy. That goes for the protagonist's douchebag teenager with too much hairspray hairstyle and red stripe in his face too, by the way.
Ageless in DAO is just as wide as the one that Carver carries in the demo.

I know. But having it show everyone's was much more convenient. I don't want to hover over every enemy to see who has what health or if there's a mage or elite etc hiding in a crowd.Eurypterid wrote...

We must unite! Maybe if enough of us are pained by this it'll get patched in at some point. If only this game was coming with a toolset like DA:O so users could fix it. >sigh<Brockololly wrote...

Thanks for the link. I see the game still very like DA:O
Still, if Bioware includes a Speed option (like Fast=Demo, Normal, and Slow=DA:O) will be amazing to everyone
I know I'll love the game, but the combat is too fast for me (and I love GOW style games). Its like DA2 lost half of its charm and identity.
Please note this, Bioware <3

Demo was fun and I'm looking forward to the game. However there is one glaring problem, which will be a real disappointment to me if it remains as it is in the final release:
The tactics screen - this is a horrible change from DAO on pc: Too few tactics visible; tactics elements about 4 times too big; the 'only one pixel selectable' problem; and worst of all: You can't see your talents while choosing tactics - that's really bad.
In DAO, you could see all your talents while creating tactics, and it gave vital information when you moused over them. It was a logical progression: See your talents; decide what tactic is appropriate; choose the talent. In the current version you have to blindly choose your tactic before you can see your talent pool, and even then you don't get any details about them when you mouse over them. If you liked the tactics feature of DAO, you're going to be pretty frustrated with this. Or very frustrated, in my case.
Apart from that I liked the game and it did seem like DAO just made a bit better. I think I preferred the more medieval design of the original interface - it just seemed more coherent and atmospheric - but I do like the talent tree system. Again however, for the PC it would make a ton of sense if you could see the names of the talents (at least the available ones) in the overview. When I'm choosing my talents at level up, it would be much more intuitive to be able to get that info before choosing the sub-tree. In fact, on my (modest 1680 X 1050) screen, I would be comfortable with the entire choice process happening in the overall view, but I actually like the zooming in part and the closer view of the very nice icons is cool. It's a PC interface thing - you can make them better on computers!
The only other thing was that I really didn't like Flemeth! From the sublime to the ridiculous - Kate Mulgrew's voice and acting was so perfect for how that DAO character was designed and presented, and it would have been a great moment to have the dragon turn into *her* (even if you hadn't played DAO, I think). The new Flemeth looks cool and all, but to me that look has been used on the wrong character.
Still I have my €40 hardcopy of the signature edition pre-ordered (€50 on Steam? Why?), and I'm sure I'll be spending quite a lot of time enjoying (most of) it.
