So, after playing both the pc demo and the ps3 demo three times in total I'd say it's safe to say that the game looks epic, but like all games, it has its good and bad.

Cons:

On the pc some of the cutscenes stopped in the middle to load, and it did this a bit on the ps3 too, but its not too much of a big deal.

Bethany's voice acting sounds bad to me at times, like she is just blah about everything.

When your sibling dies, Hawke and Bethany or Carver don't really seem to care all that much.

Sexy clothes. As a woman, I always feel like the girls in videogames are far more scantily clad than the guys. I just hope we see some skin on them too. Plus, how come Bethany can have her breasts hanging out in her mage costume, but when I chose the mage class I couldn't do the same? Maybe I want to dress ****y. :P We can change clothes in the game I believe, so hopefully I can make my character look sexy in addition to her already bad-ass self.

Female Hawke and the other girls run funny.

Yeah... there weren't that many cons for me. I'm basically knit-picking on that last one.

Pros:

Hair. Even without the option of the character creation screen, I noticed a lot of cool hairstyles on the female human opponents and on your mom. I can't wait to see the character creation and choose some new hair!

Combat is epic. While I didn't think Origins combat was boring at all, Dragon Age 2 makes it look terrible in comparison.

I noticed when I was leveling up Aveline that she can get a skill based on whether she and Hawke are on good terms or on bad. I think this is great, because in Origins I was being nice to everyone and sometimes it was just for combat bonuses. Now if I don't like a character I can be a complete **** and they can still benefit from it.

The story is already interesting to me, so I can't wait to see what comes next when I get the full game.

The option to hide helmets in the menu made me very happy.

All in all, the game met my expectations and I can't wait to get the whole game! I can't believe I have to wait nearly two whole weeks. These two weeks may be two of the longest weeks of my life. Is that sad? :P

Absolutely dreadful. Where did Bioware animators learn to animate? The moon?

The things that bothered me the most were LadyHawke and the Darkspawn.

LadyHawke's head lolled around while she ran and her hips swayed way too much.

The darkspawn looked like a combination between the hand-eye coordination of a toddler, muscular disease, and trying way too hard to look creepy.

@JohnEpler- You can thank Christina Norman and the ME game design crew for the "what is a rpg" discussions since she thinks the way to go about designing an rpg involves shutting off the rpg systems. I appreciate that you DA crew members actually come in a interact with the community rather than ignore it, or tell the players that they are too dumb to play the game right if they have issues with it ala Chris Priestly on planet scanning.

Demo thoughts: Xbox

The Good:
* Better than I imagined from everything I had heard
* Skills trees seemed unique in how things unlocked
* Dialog System seems both streamlined and helpful(I hope their isn't a ME2 all or auto fail morality but in)
* Ranged basic mage attack

Neutral:
* More actiony combat

The Bad:
* Flemeth resigned into a sexy old witch from the hag she was in DA1(breaks with established lore and universe)
* Overall visual character design changes
* Not letting us use the inventory in the demo!!!!!!!!!!!
* Mage extra slow stylish attack(what was the thought behind this?)
* Pirate seemed to have some texture issues on her right side in cut scenes

Overall B+(assuming the technical glitches are fixed in the final build)

Flemeth changed her look intentionally, in DA:O she was trying to be unassuming and non-threating to the warden, Now she is intentionally trying to intimidate hawke and Co; hench the altered look.

Hmmm... I saw the Gamespot video with more gameplay and I'm sad now. We can't customize party members armor anymore, like they did in ME2. Is that hard to find a balance with custom gear? You already have a working feature, so you remove to make you balance job easier?

Not cool Bioware :(

It made it look terrible? Funny, it made me long for the combat of the old game.

I was disappointed that I couldn't make full use of the character ceator or the inventory. Other than that the demo was... Ok... Not great. Just Ok....

I love the demo but found the text size to be really small on my 68 cm SD TV. I worked out that changing the 360's display setting to Normal, made the text a little bit readable but it was impossible to read the loading screens.

Just finished on pc, it's a little dark (visually) and faster than I expected. Probably too early to talk about expansions, but I'd really like to create a character.

Speaking of creation I liked the old character tactics menus better.

On the Plus side 2 handers aren't so slow. Also no crashes for me.

DAO my rogue ruled DAO2 not so much I'll stick with the fighter. I need something more durable if I'm fighting waves and waves of darkspawn.

Pardon my creepiness but that sister was hot, Flemmeth was hot, I wish they were backward compatible with DAO or the main character was adopted.

The demo was pretty good wish you could play around with the character creator some but no biggie did enjoy the new combat system though it took some getting used to at first.

Well, I couldn't read the whole thread, and yes it has positive and negative aspects. The one I'll mention is the entire DESIGN OF HE MENUS: AWFUL! It's me or I got the idea of extremely simple menu design, too plain no art, when you level up only a plain grid and the portrait, where the attributes are shown is simply a grid, it looks like mass effect 1 but worse, because in this case is Epic-Fantasy! no art! What happened! No Fantasy environment nor decoration, it's plain!!! Somebody agrees with me or it's only me? :-(

You do know that where they were was the blightlands right outside Lothering? Dead and Bland..and on fire.

Yes I got your point but What I meant was the design of the Menu and the screen of the attributes too plain, too straight plain colours, and a square grid , my god, and the art?, the epic decoration?

I'll meet you half way by saying yes its a little plain but not game breaking. :)

I can't believe that this people have created the baldur's gate and DA:O . In DA2 demo, the user interface looks like a low budget game,:? As I mentioned before, no art design in the menus and user interface, at least in the demo, maybe it will change in the full version, sorry for being repetitive, but I'm disappointed... Those who love Role-playing games will miss that...

Not cool Bioware :(

It due to the characters having custom body models. Its not as bad as ME2 because they can still upgrade companion armour and install things like rings for upgrades but I still don;t think they've found the right balance. They probably need to create a few different custome outfits for each companion so at least there is some choice.

Maybe they're more like Morrigan. Although you could customize her outfit, that made her look ridiculous in pretty much anything you'd make her wear. Except her upgraded Morrigan-suit.

What gets me is that a while ago i read somewhere (or maybe watched in the making-of video) that DA2's designers listened to the feedback they got from DA:O and wanted to please fans with the sequel.

I played the demo and am forced to think that somewhere along the line the designers just threw away all the semblance to DA:O, lost the notes on what people actually liked about it and built an entire game from the sheet of paper that had the changes on it.

It's all been listed above countless times, and I can see the logic behind why people are upset in the massive design shift.

The fast combat that looks highly "crouching tiger" inspired (possibly more fitting in a Jade Empire sequel?), the giant boobs, the vague and un-engaging dialogue, the laughably un-scary skeletor clones... i mean 'dark-spawn', the bland and un-fitting UI, etc etc etc

I dont like to come across as a fanboy of PC gaming, or consoles either, since i have a VAST collection of both, so I don't believe that the design changes have come about from a desire to please console gamers (since the first was on console and was fine). What I think it is, is a venture to try to capitalise on the younger, more arcade-friendly generation of gamers.

Also, I wonder if Bioware is even reading this feedback - if so, it would be nice to have someone who is in the know, confirm or deny any proposed differences between the demo and the final game.

Yeah, I didn´t even bother to look at the other characters. The only class I actually managed to keep playing for more than 5 minutes was mage. And that´s only because magic rays of frost doom don´t need to feel like they have a mass/weight and because the mage wouldn´t walk around like a chiwawa on ecstasy.

  *sigh*

played the pc version about 10x so far an it feels like a button masher game to me and lost some of it's rpg elements. Too many animations, jumping, spinning, sound affects, grunts, bellows, etc reminded a little of mortal kombat or gods of war. im gonna try the xbox version today but im a little disappointed that they decided to make a rpg more arcade like that seems to cater more to the masses than the purist rpg players.

my 2 cents..

Pants would cramp her style. 2 inch loin cloth for great success.

You pull out a dagger and use it along with your bow if attacked in melee.

Okay so I played through the demo again as an archer and I REALLY took a liking to being an archer. They were very much improved upon. But there is one thing that I just realized in the demo WHERE ARE THE ARROWS COMING FROM? :o Ha,theres no quiver of arrows,at least in the PS3 version their isnt. I suspect this has been fixed in the full game though?
