So you spend most of this post saying "PC's are no different than consoles" and then in the last sentence you talk about how PC users need to know how to update drivers.
No, PC gamers don't know how to update drivers apparently so they aren't these gods of tweaking out their own environment. There's no difference between a PC gamer and a console gamer anyways. They're mostly the same folks.
I'm old enough to recall individual boot discs for different games and for my strategy gaming needs the PC wins hands down because of the interface - though the image of something like EUII on a console does make me grin. This mythos of "console players" is one I don't get. I don't know anyone, and all of the over 30 crowd, that is "a" type of gamer and if you toss in the mobile platforms I don't know anyone that is less than a 3 platform player. The PC has some edge in typing or heavy menu driven games but even something like DAO I never felt like the 360 version lacked anything meaninful in terms of interface. It isn't like all PC games are deep meaningful experiences - idiot shooters started and flourished on the PC and Zynga has made a mint off PC gamers offering their unqiue brand of depth.

"Randomly flailing" was a good way to describe the combat. Don't like the UI.
I don't see this holding my attention foran entire year like DAO did. I'll probably do a couple of play throughs then go back to DAO. I also HATE not being alowed to have conversations while traveling.

1) Most PC gamers know how to update drivers, install mods, install patches and other small things that aren't required on consoles. Installing a patch on XBOX Live is as simple as saying yes so that doesn't count. As an example, how many console users had to install DX9 to get this demo to run? How many PC users did?
2) The difference is in the controls and with different controls, different UI's are preferable. We are getting games designed for consoles showing up on PC's with little modification for the different control scheme. Some are nice enough to allow you to use controllers on the PC but some aren't and so we are stuck with a UI that is designed for a controller that we can't even use. Using external software to map keyboard controls to a controller doesn't count because the game company still left PC gamers hanging.
3) After PC gamers end up with the inferior port, we still have to pay $60 for it and none of that money is going to license fees so the publisher ends with more money from each copy of the inferior port. It's backwards.

Anyway curious if anyone had the same or similar issue or any ideas as to what causes it.

Only noticable difference is the improved graphics and flashier animations, which are a plus in my mind.
It is a little bit console-ified but nothing to the degree that a lot of these drama queens would have you believe.
The Normal difficulty is a bit....odd. I bet I could just set everyone up with tactics and go AFK and could still complete the demo without losing anyone. The lack of friendly fire on everything but nightmare is also a drag. Hope someone mods it back into normal and hard.
I don't see how anyone is wiping on that ogre fight. Maybe if you didn't have like 10 healing potions by the time you reach it it might be semi-difficult, but only because the characters arn't developed enough, not because the fight is in any way complicated.
It's unfortunate that one of the only challenging mainstream RPGs to come out in the past decade would have such a watered down sequel in terms of difficulty.

So during the Demo I noticed Aveliene(My tank) ignored my order to use a Health Potion not just once but from 50%HP to 0 for a total of about 6orders. I would take control of her actions hit the quick heal button and it would shower under her nameplate as the next action and quickly go back to "attacking". This was during the Ogre encounter however she wasn't knocked down she would just ognore my order to use a health pot and continue attacking. It lead to her death twice so I just kited the ogre and finished him off but I was pretty annoyed to have lost my tank to such a dumb bug on such a laughable encounter.

Yes, they were more interested in finishing their fancy swings than chugging the potions (all of them)

yea thats pretty much exactly what they said. they had just brought over the version from pc to console for da:o and the just did the opposite for da2
Yes, it felt that way in the PC demo. Very disappointed with Bioware selling out its loyal PC gamer fans with yet another console port - even more discouraging because DA:O had seemed like a return to form.
Its not a console port it uses the same engine as DAO after all. It was built on all 3 platforms at the same time. Obsidian are doing exactly the same thing with Dungeon Siege 3.
it was built on all 3 platforms but they had formed it to play better on consoles. Bioware had said in the preview that it was mostly geared towards consoles more unlike DA:O

also, for some reason the character models appear to have taken a step backwards. i don't know if it's just the lighting or what. everybody looks like a vampire.
i'm frustrated and disappointed by this demo. what have you done to this franchise?!

My only real problem was that I wish I could move the camera farther up and back to get the top down view I could get in Origins. It makes casting AoE spells less awkward for me. I would have mentioned loading during cut scenes but that has already been discussed. Shuffling was still present but not to the extent it was in Origins, I did really hope I wouldn't be seeing it again but oh well. I do hope that there is an auto-attack setting for the consoles because bashing the attack button while waiting for cooldowns doesn't sound very fun to do for the entire length of the game.
Other than those, I pretty much like everything else, combat, UI, graphics, etc. The only thing I am really concerned about for the final game is the extent to which I can upgrade companions armor. Because only being able to have, say two upgrades/enchantments, doesn't sound very useful unless the additions have to power behind them. But anyway, I am looking forward to the game.

S&S - Slow cooldowns. High survivabilty but mostly button mashing since moves can't be used a lot. For me this was the least fun class.
Mage - ****ing awesome! AOE attacks abound, fast cooldowns (except for HEAL for some reason! I mean, Heal is practically useless in battle now. Hope the upgrades make it better). A really fun class.
Rogue (Daggers) - Surprisingly badass. Extremely fast cooldowns and very powerful moves. What the - I thought it was the Warrior's job to cause damage? Better try 2-handed.
Rogue (Archer) - My favorite class. Very fun. High damage, AOE attacks, death from above, fast cooldowns. Oh, and you're a FREAKIN ARCHER. Nuff said.
2-handed warrior - Haven't tried this yet. Guess I lied.

Demo Poll is now up!
I am rather curious what the overall consensus seems to be...I'd go back and count all 175 pages of opinions but that would take YEARS. Plus, the problem with a forum like this is that people with strong NEGATIVE opinions are statistically more likely to voice them, whereas the people who enjoyed it and have no complaints are more likely to sit back and just not say anything.
As for me, I thought it was great. It's hard to get an overall picture of such a large game from such a small portion of the game, but I had preordered before the demo (honestly, I'll always preorder Bioware...love you guys...) and still can't wait for the final game.

Since the combat appeared to be lacking an auto attack, I had to press X to attach between using abilties/spells. This makes the game feel like a button masher. Not what I was expecting or desiring after DA:O. I do like that combat appeared more smooth; but if I would rather have a little jagged motions and not be a button masher.
Minor complaint: HATE the new art for the abilities icons and level up screen; big downgrade. once I get used to them they will not impact if I enjoy the game, but my reaction is WTF!
If am judging this game based on the demo; I am very likely not buying it. I will still buy it (pre-order) based my opinion of bioware and past expierence; But there is a trend here. Mass Effect 1 = Awesome. Mass Effect 2 = Not nearly as good as ME1 and dumbed down (my opinion!).
DA:O= Awesome. Currently DA2 = not nearly as good.
I think you guys may be changing stuff just to say you changed it; and that is not a good thing.

As for Elementalist, I'm displeased... I really hoped they'd show magic the attention it deserved that it didn't receive in Dragon Age... but looks like it's not.
Disappointed about lack of Dual Wield for Warrior... Rogue archer was far too easy and also was limited in abilities just like everything else..
I feel I'll get tired very quickly just as I did in Dragon Age Origins.
---
A lot of loading issues which was sad, as I can play Crysis without so many loading screens.
Minor to average lag which was tedious, and a lack of continuity or interest in the story even if it was a jumble of a few action scenes...
I'm very disappointed with what I see, especially in the case of the repetitiveness that I feel will throw me away before I even get through a quarter of the game.
---
Dragon Age Origins was a failure in my eyes because of its own repetitive traits and of course, the horrible spell system, balancing, and customization options... I was hoping Dragon Age 2 would be an improvement...
Now I feel it's Dynasty Warriors.
