Its almost comical see the enemies running like ninjas.
Lets hope Bioware slow down combat a bit.

i will have to look elsewehre for some good roleplaying
If you havnt already played it, try Magicka on steam. Its an indie ARPG game thats only £7.99, and one of the best I've played in a very long time.
The Witcher II is also coming out soon, and has far better graphics and RPG gameplay than DA2 does.
Bioware dont make good roleplaying games anymore. Its a shame since the Baldur's Gate series is how they originally made their name.

Playing on the PC here. Gameplay and performance is great, EXCEPT...
The performance is great otherwise, but it kinda gets annoying when the game freezes in it's tracks for a second or two EVERY TIME there is a conversation, and every time that a small cutscene plays.
It was especially noticeable for me in the scene where you meet Aveline and have a quick chat with her and Wesley. It seemed to seperately be loading every single line of dialogue: I pick a response -> freeze and load -> Hawke says it -> freeze and load -> Bethany adds something to Hawke's statement -> freeze and load -> Aveline retorts -> freeze and load -> dialogue wheel.
I had this too, which was kind of annoying because it will prevent you from really getting into the game.

It's because the DX11 isn't fully optimized in the demo, only partially, at least that's my theory. Funnily enough though I managed to play on DX11 and everything on max setting while still maintaining around 50-60 FPS, and other than some loads in cutscenes and some screentearing (Vsync was not working at all), I playing fine on 1920 resolution, not hiccups sans the cutscene loads.
That's weird...
Because I got a GTX 570, so it can't be the GPU not being strong enough. I do have an quad core of the older generation though, so that might be a bottleneck, but still, makes no sense.
Oh, and for me its the opposite... Gameplay (even when no battles) is 30-40 fps, but the moment a cutscene starts it shoots up to 60-70 FPS... For me the cutscenes have the highest FPS.

No strategy was needed to completed the demo, the ogre battle after the relative death is boring.
There are still some unacceptable textures for PC.
Some mobs pop in front of your eyes.
I don't know if it's my rig but loading is a bit too long. It freezes the game with the "loading" message on the right bottom too often.

- The framerate for most conversations and all cutscenes was terrible. Is that just a function of the demo itself or are we going to be subjected to that during the actual game? Was really annoying.
- The combat is great; will need to get used to it (and need to run through the demo as a rogue now), but it was as advertised.
- Graphically, even better than I anticipated. Some weak spots but overall I was definitely impressed.

Played the demo, one things comes to mind is that everything is simplified. Including the models, they feel a bit bland and boring (except for isabella, she is hot). But nevertheless, its still Dragon Age and im going kick some darkspawn ass on March 11.
Im glad I'm not the only one who noticed this, It might just be that part of the game that looks like that.

the demo with a female mage where are the impressions
Presentacion
The redesigned
UI is much better, more intuitive and cleaner, the fact that the size of the
life\\\\\\\\stamina bar now is different from character to character is also a plus
Problems:
Note: Don’t
know if the demo is based in the final edition or if any of these problems are “demo
only”
When
clicking in the characters portraits the game just does random stuff, sometimes
it won’t let you select a character other times it’s impossible to access the customization
menu by double clicking, other times in the customization menu when changing character
the game returns to the battle screen. Didn’t find the Select all party members
button
Graphics
and art direction:
Let me star
by saying that I own a Wii since launch and 4 of my top 5 games this gen are
for the Wii (the other one is DA:O) so I’m not very demanding in this department
The art
style is good (but I guess that’s more of a personal opinion matter than technical)
and the scenery breathes this time (no more closed spaces), really liked the
moving clouds shadows
Problems: I
think the game could be a little more optimized, and/or let us access more
graphical options, FPS during cutscene are horrible and enabling DX11 (just on High) sends the FPS down the slope
Gameplay:
This is
where the game shines the faults in origins are all corrected the speed is up
but the strategy is still there
Problems: When using AoE spells (Fireball) it’s impossible to target an enemy and that’s
a problem when dialing with a moving horde, also when using AoE spells in inclined
terrain the “crosshair” should adapt to
terrain
Can’t wait
to play the real deal on March 11

I'm also immensely glad that we now have a protagonist who can speak instead of just standing around like a mute dummy among all the voice acted NPCs. Yes, I did get hooked on the RPG genre back in the days of Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment, but these days I'm having a bit of a hard time accepting nostalgia trips like missing voice acting for the main character - particularly after the Mass Effect games.
The actress who voices Lady Hawke is no Jennifer Hale, but based on this demo I still think she does a damn fine job.
I'm about to try a male mage now, but just like with Mass Effect I strongly suspect a female lead is the only way I'll be playing DA2.

But I have never been a fan of buttonmasher action games like God of War. And judging from this demo, Dragon Age 2 feels more related with that game, than with it's actual predecessor.
The politest thing I can say about DA2 is that it.... really knows its audience.

Senbon, armor customisation for companions has been lessened yes. You can't equip boots, gloves, and chest armor. However, you can stil buy armor upgrades (I'm unsure how this works)Senbon wrote...
Haha, indeed. I loved how using aoe spells on my party members had no consecquence at all. I really hope my party takes more damage if I do a mistake on higher difficulty settings.Bhav wrote...

In Dragon Age 2, all you have to do to win is fireball everything in sight. It doesnt matter if party members are nearby, there is no need for tactics or strategy at all, just point, click and win. Far too easy and incredibly boring.
I also hear that my party members can only upgrade their armour (sort of like ME2), is this true? :
There's also runes, rings, amulets and belts to equip. Weapons can also be changed for characters (with the exception of Varric I think)
That's a bit **** :< I really love customizing my characters in RPG games. Hoping there's a great variety in the stuff you can equip then.
I'm also hoping there's alot of exploring in the main game, there really isn't any in the demo ~~
Thanks falconlord5 : > was hoping for that.

Graphics are great, gameplay and control good. Hope the full version will be worth the 70 bucks. I had only one crash, and that was in my first playthrough.

Was I fighting the same ogre that everyone else was?
All I did was right click, winters grasp, fireball, repeat and it died. No difficulty or thinking required at all.
It hardly compares to how difficult the first ogre fight in DAO was:
I think that is a pretty poor comparison. This demo is a lot more comparable to DAO's origin stories, which were also stupidly easy - meaning that the purpose is to ease the player into the game and not make it incredibly tactical.
Once you get to Kirkwall, that is when I expect the game to become more tactical since that would be in line with what DAO did. If DA2 never does, then we have a problem. But I think it is a bit unfair to rag on the game's difficulty when you are playing the first hour of the game on normal. DAO eased us into combat, so hopefully DA2 is also doing this

During the sibling death...everytime you start new combat (ogre then after dialogue) ...you see the poor sibling rise up only to fall over dead again..it's just too much hilarity.
