My main criticism is for the PC version. This is a game ment to be played on a console and that is obvious by the camera set up. So I would like to see an option to play the PC version on a controller, that or allow key binding be mapped out to the controller. That's just me though.

This, a thousand times this.

I have a good PC, but will likely buy this for the 360 since the game really flows well with a controller.

Plus at 2560x1600 the UI is scaled incredably tiny on the PC, and I didn't seen an option to scale it up.

I find it pretty funny that these people are ****ing when a demo of DAO would play the same. Take an early part of the game, say the Human Noble Origin story, and you'd have a lot of ambling around a house with no hint at the actual plot and the demo would time out before anything interesting happened. So instead you cut down on a lot of the talking-to-random-people parts and speed it up to when your home is attacked; then you have a very linear process of auto-attacking a bunch of easy enemies to death. It would just plain suck, by their own standards. And it would suck more than DA2 because at least the basic combat in DA2 against easy enemies is a lot more involving and entertaining to watch.

I think my biggest complaints were more from a business/reputation perspective. There are some very unimaginative RPG fans (some may say "fans of a very specific and out-dated subset of RPGs", but whatever) who are sitting on their little perches like single-minded vultures just waiting to swoop down and pick DA2 to pieces. We all know the complaints; dumbed-down and all that stuff. Well the demo didn't help itself by removing character customisation, the equip screen and general inventory. Most people can see past that and assume the incredibly obvious fact that that's just the demo; but the peanut gallery of ****ing idiots are just going to give in to the red mist even more because of stuff like that.

[IRONY]Thank you for this incredibly mature and not at all generalizing post. [/IRONY]

I resent that. So everyone who criticizes DA2 is an unimaginative idiot who just wants to bash a game? I've actually read a lot of valid complaints here. Things that bothered certain people for certain reasons. Why can't you just let everyone have and express their own opinions? Or is yours the only one that counts?
I don't like certain features of DA2. Am I an unimaginative idiot now? Funny, because my biggest issue is how the voiced Hawke and the convo wheel hamper my imagination.

Now, could you please fix DA:O for Win7? You're the ones who broke it with 1.04.

That's strange. I played 1.04 on W7 x86 and don't recall any crash or problems with this patch.

Ooh, I have some more feedback I forgot to post earlier.

I HATED the Hurlock health bars. Badly ratio'd rectangles with an ugly red colour. They don't look as bad on the right side with the characters, for some reason, but they look terrible on the Hurlocks themselves.

And why oh why did you remove enemy highlighting when pressing the Tab key? It was very difficult for me to cycle between enemies because I had difficulty identifying them, what with all the craziness going on, and I had even greater difficulty attacking them. Have you changed auto-attack? My character never targeted the next enemy, he just stood there. Very annoying selecting them and telling him 'Attack!'

This game might actually be better on the consoles than on the PC. Yay for me. With my PC. And no consoles.

on my second playthrough with the rouge. i found combat with mr ogre to go better. apparently as long as I set each of the npcs to have at least one stun and one area effect ability things get much easier.

the ogre did little to no damage as he spent the fight stunned or frozen.

Check in the game install folder for a dxsetup.exe.  This should be run automatically on install but apparently that's not working.  Double click it, and follow the instructions.

Alternatively download and install this: http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en.

I have played through the demo once as a female mage. I really liked all the twirling the mage did during combat. It made the combat seem much more epic.

One thing that concerned me about the demo: when I was setting the tactics for the other players, it would not let me program the characters to drink a health potion when their HP got too low. Given how fast paced the combat is, it was really frustrating to have to pause and tell everyone to drink a health potion right before they were about to die. Also, I DID NOT LIKE that there was a cool down time for potions. In the first game, you could drink as many potions as you liked. I don't see why I should have to wait like 30 seconds before drinking a second health potion if I have a character on the verge of death. I made a combat oriented mage, so I didn't have a heal spell.

Another big concern of mine:

 Playing on the pc.
It seems like it might have the same depth of character relationships as DAO had.  The story seemed okay for what little you get to see in the demo.
As for the combat, I think it is abysmal, it's very arcade-ish and unreal,so,so, it quickly breaks any immersion you may have gained from the story line.

I wasn't expecting anything as good as DAO, it would be very hard to perform the same miracle twice, but I was expecting something better than what I have seen in this demo.

I would rather keep the DA:O style for the "real" events, and the DA2 style for Varric's embelishments.  I don't care too much for detailed graphics so long as the graphics are clean.

I found this interesting, would have been a great idea: to have the frantic hack and slash for the embellished parts and a cleaned up but slightly slower, more responsive than DAO but less enemy density with harder difficulty and more tactics for the "real" deal.  Would have been a really unique blend.

*shrugs*

WIll try the demo tonight on Mage and see the diffs.  May play rogue again and see if multiple playthroughs adjust my perspective a bit.  It is one of those things where you go " oh, this isn't bad, but why is my console game on my PC?"  Just like when I played DAO on PS3 I thought, where is my keyboard???  lol

Whoops...got cut off:

Another big concern of mine: TEXT SIZE!

I absolutely could not read the text from my couch (I have a 31" HDTV). My couch is only 8 feet from my TV, so I think it is ridiculous that I can't read the text from that distance. I had to pull a chair up and sit about 4 feet from the TV so I could read what was on the screen.

I will start off by saying I enjoy that you kept to the heart of DAO with the UI and interface. That said I am very pleased with how you handle the combat. I can let it roll or I can pause and go tatical. I like the graphics, and I like the voice overs.

I can say combat flows much smoother than in DAO, I like how the story begins and I enjoy how the game is an "interactive flash back" with me as the director of the flash backs.

I look forward to the game.

I also like the Grey Warden refrence in the game as well.

Rogue Archer: I would say it is quite an improvement from DAO. Archer's agility and flexibility are reflected this time round. Execution is quite fast. Because some of the abilities were locked, I could not tell what the other abilities were. It would be more deadly though if poison arrows were added to that tree. In addition, it would have been fun to see the archer in the exaggerated mode.

Origins was a great game, but it was far from a miracle, and had quite a few issues. The combat is more colourful and faster than before, but I don't see how that breaks immersion? The combat in Origins wasn't exactly something to write home about, adequate but nothing great, which didn't bother me as I played for the story and interaction with my party.

I'm abit dissappointed. Not with just gameplay but with the characters too. None of them seemed any interesting.

Why Carvel doesn't have any emotions when his sister dies? HE felt nothing.

When i met Alistair in origins i loved him from the very first second. Same with Wynne and Morrigan. They were so lovely characters. I loved their voices too. And the dialogue was neat.

Dragon age 2 doesn't have the beautiful atmosphere Dragon Age origins had... The darkspawn aren't scary anymore...And no other music can ever replace the epic Leliana song soundtrack. I could sit in the DAO camp just to listen to that song for hours with the dog barking and relax :). Probably that won't happen in DA2...

I don't mind DA2 being more action game but i think they took it too far. They changed the whole game when they didn't have to.

Dragon age origin was a Masterpiece. I can't judge dragon age 2 because its not out yet , but the demo was dissapointing.

I feel the same way  i played DAO on pc because i loved the classic BG games , they where tactical and 1 could switch  between top / 3d view for total group control . I fail to see how DA2 can be played in this way ... from the feel of the demo u could just as well made it and 1 player action rpg .

I know the demo might not represent the final game much but i also did not like :
The Ui overall
When switching to invetory the black background takes away a huge gameplay feel .
On pc like stated above the tactical overview camera has to come back !
The Graphic on Icons are really bad . seriously bad .
Action animations are cool but ... u guys totaly overdid em no on like spam . this is action animation spam.
The effect animations from fireballs etc look very unnatural for some reason .

few things i liked was the skill tree and movement .

I think the Dragon Age 2 Champion trailer was probably a lot better than the Skyrim trailer from what I just saw, so I'm not impressed... plus Elder Scrolls is always very very tedious and drawn out.

Still will GameFly it of course.

I'm sure we'll all end up buying Dragon Age 2 once the great ratings come out and it gets Game of the Year.

As a long time old school player who gave up on PC and moved to the comfort of the couch a few years back, I railed against Bioware for not including Tactical Camera and full party 'pause and play' in the console versions.  That being said, once you get used to it, it's fine.  If people can beat Hardcore mode without these things, then it's definitely doable.  Also, now that full party 'pause and play' is on the consoles, I found myself playing the demo much more tactically than I ever did in Normal mode of DAO.

I'd say i hope the actual game has difficult/very difficult/Nightmare mode for those of us who want some more challenge.

I don't mind the easy mode of the demo, especially as there was a choice to lock the save option (if it was any harder people would really complain) but it's kinda sad there was no chance to see how tactical it could get.

Apart from that, i really liked that it seems warrior won't be a useless class anymore, that rogue gets much more credible, and that the mage seems less OP from the beginning (as in, you don't get invincible by level 3).

I really liked the diffirent changes in the combat (talking about skills here, and "little" facts like 2-H warriors hitting groups of enemies with basic swing and so on), and i feel that the faster pace of combat might make it much more tactical, and much less "let's do the same tactic for the nine thousand times, how clever am i !!".

Played the demo on Xbox 360 and PS3:

Played with all the classes and by far my favorite is the Two handed warrior , I really like what you did there , combat response is , well things happen now !!!!! Liked that there is now a very substancial difference between a warrior and a rogue. I didnt liked to play as mages in DAO as much but in DA2 I loved it , might try it on my second play through.

The art style I love it , I really like that you said "screw all those who just want hyper realistic "boring" grafix" and went to the stylized art , now the game has more personality. Unlike other posters I was perfectly fine with the barren wasteland , it shows how bad the blight can be. Liked the redesign of the darkspawn and oh my who thought Flemmeth could be this hot.

The only complaint would be the cool down for the health potions , it is too long , specially if you are not rolling a healing mage (which I didn't in DAO , and killed Wynne). I am deeply satisfied with the demo and cant wait for March 8 ..... damn it is going to be 1 and a half weeks of torture.

Agreed.  As I mentioned earlier, it's tough to judge the combat seeing Normal was so easy.  But, I think it's really going to shine when you ramp up the difficulty a little bit.

Mage felt more exciting this time around, well, unless you wanted to summon.  But at such a low level I felt like mage characters had to be set to heal for that second ogre fight.   It was not a fun fight for me
