I don't really care about anyones opinion...neither should any of you. If you like it play it, if you don't then cancel your preorder and play origins 10 more times.

and you really shouldn't. this is just a "feedback thread" so BIOWARE (and no one else) can get an overview of what people think. The problem is when people start laughing at other peoples opinions amd downplay them or flat out say that other peoples opinions are wrong.

Carver's face won't be like that in the official game, right? Right? RIGHT?!  RIIIIIIIIIGHT?!?!

Dude... you haven't heard? That's what ghouls look like under the new art style. That's Carver-ghoul! ;)

Too funny. I love graphics corruption like that (at least as screenshots... not while I'm actually playing).

The complete pose of Carver at that moment explained a bit how his face ended up like that...

It was as if he was standing next to a big fat guy in a small hallway, where Carver's being pushed against the wall. What you can see on the picture are the results because of that.

Poor Carver. :(

And it's more, like, complete model corruption instead of being limited to graphics corruption.

He was carved

You do realize that 90% of the stuff that was in DAO is still in DA2?  The difference between the two is that you have the option to go a more direct and aggressive route if you want to.  I've been able to complete this demo by doing nothing but issuing commands and moving my team around.

[/quote]
Really? I feel like its 180 degrees from what it was. Especially the hack and slash crap, I can't stand that stuff. That was a major part of what dragon age was, so its far from being 90% of what it was. Not to mention the almost cartoon like graphicss. Im just not a fan of any of that stuff. Im glad they released a demo though, so I didn't spend 60 dollars on this, id be seriously upset. I can't afford to spend 60 bucks on something crappy, I live on a freakin military salary.

Mass effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 are marketed to very different gamers. One is a shooter with rpg elements, the other is an rpg. The problem is I don't think they're going to be getting any new consumers who aren't used to rpg's, but they also will lose those who loved the first one for being more geared towards hardcore role players. Bioware is trying to have it's cake and eat it too. I guarantee this will be a hit, but they just took a dump on the grave of Baldurs Gate.

If I was Bioware, based on many legitimate concerns I've been reading, I would delay the game at least 2 months and fix/change some things.

Have you actually read the thread?  It is 90% crying and I am cancelling my preorder.  :slow claps:

In case you had not noticed, this is an official feedback thread for the demo, sure some are over the top, but the defenders are just as bad.

No one cares, go cancel it. Bioware will still sell a ton, they could put their brand on a dog turd and people will buy it. So many complaints...if you can do better go start up your own company and produce games...then talk.

Its a discussion forum...thats what you do...discuss.

Especially when the thread you're posting in is actually asking for feedback.

Some people just can't accept any change, clearly.
I for one, loved the demo -- it definitely reassured that I'm going to love the full game: The combat was largely the same, except it just looked flashier and was more responsive - definitely a good thing in my books. Mass Effect is my favourite game series, and I was pleased to see that the dialogue wheel fit in nicely with more cinematic cutscenes.
I played through numerous times with both Lady Hawke and male Hawke, and both of their voice actors fitted the characters very nicely.

My only gripes were that more emotional impact was made on Wesley's death than on your sibling who was crushed to a pulp and the animations and stops between cutscenes and combat were a bit were a bit jarring -- that and the re-design of the darkspawn, that I will never get used to.

I enjoy the PC demo. I've tried mage, rogue, warrior, male, female... all enjoyable; gameplay is satisfying. And I see tactics still matter, even though admittedly you don't need much of it to get through the demo.

I'm having trouble explaining to people that DA2 is still a tactical RPG, because apparently the fact that the demo is easy and has lots of bloody fast-paced action, means it's a dumb, dumb, awful game designed for consoles, and us poor, poor PC people need to make references to Baldur's Gate or Planescape Torment and diss console players in order to maintain our street cred.

Controls were a bit uncomfortable at first, probably in part because the game seemed a bit unresponsive/sluggish at the High (DirectX 10) graphics setting. But I did expect to be able to use e.g. mage (first class I tried) AoE attacks while paused... had to unpause before the click would register (yes, I used the correct mouse button, I'm talking about the circle on the ground showing the area of effect and how the click to attack there would not work while the game was paused. I expected it to, since you after all can "queue up" Follower actions while the game is paused).

I also get the "loading..." in the middle of cutscenes, I read it's been resolved though. Otherwise, loading was... not annoying, which is always nice.

What's with all these so-called "hardcore rpg players" and pc fanboys? It seems they have a beef with DA2 not being some imaginary super-hardcore pc title that they fantasized it would be without a basis in reality. A lot of what was in DA:O is in DA2. This is undenyable. So if you thought DA:O was l33t and DA2 sucks ass because it's nothing like it, your memory of DA:O is highly in error.

But if it's super-hardcore oldschool rpgs you wanna play, there are others out there. I'm sure the 5 of you will enjoy them greatly. (Just kidding. ;))

Who knows, it'll be interesting to see this one play out. I respect them trying to appeal to a bigger base to get more money, but there's other ways of doing things other than ruining an amazing game. Mass Effect 2 didn't really bother me as bad, I missed not having all the guns and armour like in the first, but it wasn't a complete 180 from the original.

1) A button needs to be added to select the entire party. I used this all the time in DAO combat and it becomes tedious to shift-click each party member when you want to command the whole party.

2) When we press tab we should be able to see the labels for all enemies as well as their current health, just like in DAO. Unnecessary inconvenience.

3) No overhead view. You can't detach the camera from the active character and get a top-down view of the entire battlefield. How are we supposed to make accurate AOE casts if we can't do this?

4) The center of the camera is too high above the characters' heads. Lower it.

5) You can't initiate an AOE cast by clicking on an enemy, unlike in DAO. You have to click on the ground. The enemy detection when positioning an AOE seems sloppy.

I've played through the demo several times, so now here are my thoughts:

The intent icons aren't perfectly intuitive based on what I've read on the forum, and without a manual to basically describe them, I'm not sure what the choices actually mean. I do think that this problem goes away with a manual in hand.

I think combat is great. I don't see a loss in tactical control with the new camera (for me, the angle is just perfect and gives me depth & precision). What does bother me though is that we can't fully disable tactics. You can prevent them from using skills... but you seem forced to give an automated behaviour when a character is not selected instead of having them act as a puppet. This is annoying.

The amount of damage we do also seems low. Even with DPS (like archery) to me it feels that the fights just take too long. There's a dramatic difference between the exageration and the prologue proper which is great... but I think just slightly higher damage thresholds and slightly lower cooldowns would have been a better choice.

Otherwise, I think Isabella needs to tone it down with the jewels. Her face is liable to blind someone.

I guess the only feedback you want to see in this feedback thread is "OMFG I LOVE IT!".

The ability to make a better widget is irrelevent. You don't need to be able to make a better car to not like Ford's new SUV, for example.

I'm not trying to say anyone is wrong. I'm just trying to have my own opinion.

I still think DA2 will be a very good game, Bioware is not known for sucking. It's just not what I thought it was going to be when I pre-ordered it. And I'm not sure it's what I want to play to continue my Dragon Age experience. Maybe that will change in the future.

I thought ME2 was great, and I think the gameplay fits perfectly for a more shooter type environment, but I don't think it fits or plays very well in a sword and magic world.

This is exactly how I feel!

Just as a point - I think I used control+A to do this. At least, I recall it working. Try it and see.

You can try what I've always done (DA:O included) - angle the camera down so that you catch most of the depth of view instead of the top down field of view (ie don't try to play it like it was isometric, because franly isometric isn't even that tactical a view) and then use the fact that targets are highlighted by the AoE cone to cast. That's how I do it.

I don't think they will sell that many this time expesically thanks to the Demo ... I really have to thankyou them to post the demo , this way I can delete my preorder too ...

Seriously this game just sucks , it has nothing to do with Dragonage , may be they should change even the name and call it Dragonarcade , or Dragonfighter or how about MangaDragonfightergame ... I was just waiting to see when the bib blobby colorfull explosion writing "HIT" on the enemy to appear or some other Japanstyle Combo fight manouvers ....

I play one an xbox, and I don't consider myself hardcore at all, I don't have time to play video games all the time like I did when I was 15. I don't think my memory for Dragon Age 1 is in error, I just played it yesterday. Seemed fine then.

Just got finished playing the demo. Text size was awful. I had to sit five inches away from my t.v. to read anything. Otherwise, I was pretty impressed. The switch to real-time battle was a little awkward at first, but after adjusting it seems like a huge improvement.

I *loved* the demo. Started off with the rogue, From the movies I thought the combat was a bit too quick, and killing my first darkspawn I thought I was right... but I adjusted to the pace of it before the third wave of darkspawn, and wished there were more waves before I knew it. Kate Mulgrew delivered the improved Witch of the Wilds, and I cheered at her 'appointment' and 'beyond your reach' lines.

The mage combat animations were.... perfect! All of them, actually. Kicking bombs into a cluster, kicking and bashing archers, melee mages... I thought I had it all figured out, but now I'm not so sure what class to pick first anymore. At least I get the trailer now. Hawke did the melee thing, because it looks so awesome.

The framed narrative thing worked really well, got the chance to try out all classes a bit, and really get to experiment a tad, to see what class to pick for my first playthrough. I hope Varric exaggerates a lot :)

If anything, I kind of hoped the story would take off in actual Lothering, see the blight at work.. maybe get some nice references about that giant killer in the cage or something,

Nothing beat the feeling of playing baldurs gate 2, and it's helped that I was young and easily impressed. That's
how most people feel about it, it's a nostalgia factor. To think
oldschool rpg is outdated is admittedly right, I wouldn't expect a game
designer to try to appeal to a dwindling base. The thing is that with
the success of Dragon Age, I thought they could bring about a comeback
to what is an exceptional gaming experience, if only more people would try it. Everything is about instant gratification today, and videogames aren't helping anything. Baldurs gate took smarts, and taught patience. If people want to feel superior for playing a game that took skill and thought, then let them, because truth is it's completely justified.

I'm playing the PC version

I don't like the aesthetic changes at all. It is more cartoony and gives the game a banal feel. This carries over to the spell effects and battle animations which give the game a childish, action-rpg sensibility. The B-movie dialogue is hackneyed and contrived, my character (male/mage) comes across as a cheap, cookie cutter "charming rogue". So far, DA:O to DA:2 feels like Baldur's Gate to Crusaders of Might & Magic. Not good at all.

Dude, the only thing that's "Mass Effect 2"y from the DA:2 demo is the conversation wheel. That's it. Everything else is pretty much DA:O on steroids. And hey, maybe that bothers people. Honestly though, while things are speeded up and the action is faster-paced, it's still basically DA:O action. I really don't get the comparisons to Mass Effect 2 other than the dialogue system.
