It's because the DX11 isn't fully optimized in the demo, only partially, at least that's my theory. Funnily enough though I managed to play on DX11 and everything on max setting while still maintaining around 50-60 FPS, and other than some loads in cutscenes and some screentearing (Vsync was not working at all), I playing fine on 1920 resolution, not hiccups sans the cutscene loads.

That's weird... You get 60fps on 1920 resolution? Do you have a triple-SLI setup of some kind? :D

Because I got a GTX 570, so it can't be the GPU not being strong enough. I do have an quad core of the older generation though, so that might be a bottleneck, but still, makes no sense.

Oh, and for me its the opposite... Gameplay (even when no battles) is 30-40 fps, but the moment a cutscene starts it shoots up to 60-70 FPS... For me the cutscenes have the highest FPS.

Im running around 60fps with one HD 5770. With your card you should beable to max no problem.

Oh and for total lol's..

During the sibling death...everytime you start new combat (ogre then after dialogue) ...you see the poor sibling rise up only to fall over dead again..it's just too much hilarity.

That was funny. It's same with the woman Isabella throws a dagger at, at the end. She dies, falls over. When combat starts she's standing upright again and the death animation repeats.

I completed the PC Version.

My PC is tearing through the game quite well, can there be an option for V-Sync? I'm not sure if I enjoy the tearing.

Other than that:

The game felt more fluid, streamlined and in many ways better without the feeling that the game was dumbed down.

I still pause, and I still set my orders and away I go.

I really enjoyed the game, story feels great, I like the new skill system, my only gripe is that the loading between battles/input mode to cutscene needs a little bit of work. Transitions between being in the middle of fighting and seeing something happen at times causes a moment of disbelief.

A perfect example is being surrounded and in the battle of 4 or 5 guys surrounding me, and before I get the chance to kill them off a cutscene is enabled.

I felt that upgrading party members abilities and talent skills could be a little more intuitive. It was not easy for me to figure out how to switch between talent skills and attributes just because I want to look at them. Many times I found myself getting kicked out of 'P' screen when I attempted to double click the character I wanted to inspect more thoroughly.

- The framerate for most conversations and all cutscenes was terrible. Is that just a function of the demo itself or are we going to be subjected to that during the actual game? Was really annoying.

This pretty much. Also the Templar has no audio when spoken to.

Its really amazing, the only thing I noticed is that some abilities I was trying to view I cant because the cursor on the xbox360 seems to just skip over them.

Just did a playthrough with a female rogue :

- Love femHawke's voice, but i felt all the sarcastic responses were lacking and odd

- Loved Carver, even felt guilty for getting him crushed

- Hated Bethany's voice sadly, it just didnt feel right. I cant wait to play a mage so she gets the axe.

- Mama Hawke = Elanor Cousland, which isnt bad at all

- The rogue auto attack is great! And the special attacks are even better. I am looking forward to the Saboteur/Scoundrel specs!

- Isabella is flawless (and extremely well endowed!) I cant wait to recruit her and have her around

- I didnt understand why Casandra (who's VA is amazing by the way) was with dark hair and then at the end with white hair?

All in all - i am very exited about the game , i cant and wont compare DA2 to DAO, as they feel totally different, which isnt a bad thing!

I think it will take me some time to get use to this one , but thats cause I'm an Alistair freak lol

The game seemed to run good for me even in DirectX 11 I am sure it willbe even better when its the retail game.

I hate to say I am not really a fan of the Mass effect dialog style though...I felt like it made me think less about the options of dialect I had but I am sure this will grow on me .

I would of loved to have a small taste of character creation in the demo but I shall live.

And as others have said before me... I too think the combat moves a tad too fast its like one outhouse and 30 people trying to be first into it lol

Played the first time with W&S warrior and almost maxed out settings: liked it overall, but fps drops and the really boring ogre fight gave me a bad feeling. I often found myself switching to Bethany and felt more comfortable with a mage.

The second time I played with a DW rouge, deactivated v-sync and man, was I relieved. Everything went much smoother, and combat was way better. Will definitely play as a rogue on my first playthrough, followed by a mage.

I will give the warrior a second chance though, two-handed.

Was I fighting the same ogre that everyone else was?

All I did was right click, winters grasp, fireball, repeat and it died. No difficulty or thinking required at all.

It hardly compares to how difficult the first ogre fight in DAO was:

I think that is a pretty poor comparison.  This demo is a lot more comparable to DAO's origin stories, which were also stupidly easy - meaning that the purpose is to ease the player into the game and not make it incredibly tactical.

Once you get to Kirkwall, that is when I expect the game to become more tactical since that would be in line with what DAO did.  If DA2 never does, then we have a problem.  But I think it is a bit unfair to rag on the game's difficulty when you are playing the first hour of the game on normal.  DAO eased us into combat, so hopefully DA2 is also doing this

In badurs gate you usually got killed within the first 20 minutes, either by Silke, or the mage assasin at the Friendly Arm inn.

So I dont really care, I dont need any part of my games to be so stupidly easy that a 3 year old could play them.

Impressions as they come:

Finally, finished downloading.
What do you mean, missing files?
Oh, thanks Dubya!
Configure...
WTF lag.
Lower settings.
More lag.
Lower settings some more.
Ridiculous amounts of lag.
Set it to medium, this is ridiculous.
Skip the cutscene, since I had to watch it a thousand times
Mage animations are *ridiculously* fun. Combat feels more meaty. Way more exciting than DAO.
Female Hawke has incredibly long eyelashes.
I see they changed Carver's armor from Grey Warden armor (or possibly city guard) to generic chevalier armor
Nub teeth. Nub teeth. Ugly, ugly nub teeth.
The new camera does not go up as far as I'd like. I don't need isometric mode, but I kind of feel claustrophobic.
LOVE how close the new camera gets--excellent screenshots
Huh. Beth and Carver are already on set spectrums of the Friendship/Rivalry path
Only two of the branches are unlocked?
Hawke's father's name is Malcolm.

I played it through as a two handed warrior. The revamped combat is amazing; it really does feel like a cross between the "pause and play" system used in Origins and a hack and slash like Dynasty warriors.

I also like the new art style. Its affect on the menu and loading screens particularly impressed.

I really wanted to like it, i really did, but its to different from DA:O for me.

take the combat as an example.
I really enjoyed the pausing system in DA:O, ordering out commands, planing ahead and such. The tactical aspect of the combat was so much fun, and you couldt just button mash your way through it.

But i feel as if they taken the tactical aspect of the combat and and replaced it with "look mom! Explosions! XD"
Take the first fight. If you had faced that many darkspawn in Origins, you'd have a serious fight on your hands, and if you stepped out victorious, it would probably be one satesfying feeling.
But here, all i had to do was:
Run up to wave 1
- AOE
Run up to wave 2
- AOE

And repeat that.

Another thing that bothered me was the conversation weel. A huge part of DA:O and creating an identity for my character was deciding the right responses in conversations that took place. But now i just have to pick between the good answer, the neutral or the "badguy" answer.

i suspect that if it was a new IP i would feel better about it, but seeing the new artstyle, gameplay and combat system, and feeling that it's worse than the first game just kills it for me entirely.

Now that I'm done squeeing over rogues being cool again and Aveline's awesomeness, I need to express my frustration with the size of the text. I don't have particularly bad vision even without glasses, but even with my glasses, I had difficulty reading the loading screen text. I'm hoping that future titles will have an option for larger text.

Sword and board is really rewarding. Love it.

In fact, combat over all. Is very rewarding. Very impressive.

Overall impression:  The game is bland.  It's kind of disappointing I'm saddled with short, dull dialogue because people can't read these days.  The characters are nothing memorable so far, except for Flemeth.  She was awesome.   Seven feet tall swords look ridiculous and straight out of a JRPG.

The textures looked terrible but it is a demo.  It's a very immersion breaking game with all the stuttering and pausing transitions from combat to dialogue and especially when there's pauses between characters speaking.  The low res cutscenes are...well I think low res cutscenes speak for themselves.

The combat looked better although a bit fluffy and no real grit or weight to it.  It's only a demo but it was laughably easy.

Glad I wasn't able to order the Signature Edition.  I think I'll be waiting on this game and see what the rest of PC gamers have to say.  Who knows, maybe a few more playthroughs will convince me it's worth my time.

Some things that make me wonder about the game are the lot of bugs and little glitches that pester you even during the few minutes you play the demo.

AAAAH, my download's started over ! Why, maker, why ? Can't they put the demo on Steam or something ? Browsers aren't good with big files like that !
