Is there top down view with dragon age 2????? the demo ... i didnt get it ! was not the same game surely !!!

nope.  I read an article somewhere saying that they needed to get rid of that view so they could make more detailed landscapes and stuff.  Like the top of a church or something in the background.   You wouldnt get to see that if you played in top down.  So they figured if they were going to spend time making such details, the players better see them.  This is definitely paraphrased.  I think it was about dragon age 2 =P

Yes, it was PC only.

Gotcha, is that also along with the top down view?

Yeah, the  camera on console was a following camera - It would follow the person you controlled or move slightly for spell placement.  It wasn't optimal, but it worked fine.

i just really dont get the non autoattacking on the consoles. Theres no point. To do the maximum amount of damage you need to just be mashing X. Theres no combos or anything from what I can tell. I guess one benefit could be reducing aggro by slowing your attacks, but meh. If the best way to do damage is to just constantly be pressing X with no sort of timing or anything I'd rather just press X once.

It needs to be more about managing your party/abilities instead of making sure your always attacking. Id be looking at another one of my characters health bars and forget to be mashing X and then im not doing any damage. Im just used to this from playing cRGPs and dragon age origins, so im sure i would eventually remember to always be hitting X. In the end, what is the point? It doesnt add anything interesting to the gameplay. Im not going to feel more attached to my character because I pressed attack 50,000 times in a playthrough.... I just think its a weird gameplay decision and hope they just forgot to include the option on consoles.

Great point, and one I've been meaning to make. This is probably the only thing about the gameplay that worries me. I, like you, would rather press the attack button once to kickstart my character, and then return my attention to the bigger picture: assessing the battlefield, deciding where to position my fighters and which abilities to use.

Somebody else said that the auto-attack feature will be available in the full game, even in the console versions. I hope that's the case. Personally, I'd rather "think like a general" than "fight like a Spartan".

Leonidas, commander of the 300 Spartans, pacing up and down the ranks before battle: "All right, men! I want you to press the 'x' button until your thumbs bleed! THIS IS PLAYSTATION!"

Bioware was incorporating action/adventure elements into its games before the partnership with EA. Take Jade Empire: you manually control one character throughout the whole game, all combat is in real time -- and it's fantastic!

You're entitled to be disappointed with the changes made to DA: 2. My point is that you can't lay the blame solely at EA's doorstep.

Jade Empire was Jade Empire though, it was supposed to be a real-time action RPG. Fans of Dragon Age were expecting "Dragon Age" in the sequel, but so far indications are far from that. Take away the PC controls and the names and the game has little if any to do with its predecessor. It's baffling how we've gone from "spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate" to "just another action RPG" in the space of one game. With games like Witcher 2 and Skyrim coming out in 2011, which honestly look much better than the demo I just played, it's hard to be too enthusiastic about DA2.

If not solely, at least a good chunk of it lies there. Brent Knowles was the LEAD designer and clearly he wasn't the one making the design decisions or else he would still be here.

Demo for PC.  I have enjoyed the whole experience. Except the download part.:innocent:

There is lot of combat for being just the beginning of the game but it's understandable. The Final Fantasy XIII feeling at the beginning (I game that I don't dislike) isn't the greatest thing though. At least the camera is better.

Graphics look better than in DAO which is always a nice thing. The new look of the darkspawn feels a bit weird. No problem if you don't change it again for DA 3.:P

Flemmeth looks awesome. Double awesome than in DAO. One of the few non well endowed women of the demo.:P I prefered the more "shy" women of DAO but as long as I don't have to see a chainmail bikini...<_<

I like the conversation wheel and the visual help it provides. I select what I want to say considering how I want to react to the situation but it's nice to have it. Voices too low and had to rely on subtitles.

Combat is fun and fast. I would enjoy a combat like in War of the Lions, and combat like in Baldur's Gate is very nice. But Bioware has made possible to enjoy a more action based gameplay since Mass Effect. That said, I love to pause very often and check my different options and such. The combat feels like that of DAO but more agile. And I prefer to enjoy a game for what it is and not for what other games were.

I like the animations and the mage looks awesome in combat. The skill trees seem interesting but with the limits placed on the demo, not sure if better/worse/same as DAO. I miss two weapons for the fighter though, as it was what my main character in DAO was.:crying: At least the rogue this time looks awesome and worth playing, having an easier time with her than with the fighter. Oh, Healing requiring 60 seconds seems too much but again, it's a demo so no real possibilities of evaluation. When playing as mage, even with cooldown it saved me as all my team fell and I found myself killing the ogre and some hurlocks just by myself.

I read in the forums about how weird it was to create "your own" character after the initial battle and I must agree. Not big deal for me but weird anyways. And unlike those who think that "their" characters are only those created by themselves and not the default ones by Bioware, I do remember what a roleplaying game is and how the customization is just an added bonus. Female Hawke has very pretty eyes by the way!

Did I miss something in my two play throughs? Flemeth was also very endowed, the only flat chested female was Hawke herself and I have a nippleing suspicion it may have been only because she was wearing bulky armor.

Just played through the pc demo. Think it's quite good, but there's a few things I'd really like to change:

-sound levels varies too much between dialogue, music and fighting/game play

-better opportunities for zooming and changing views. It's more intense and better graphics (I guess) with close-up camera, but still... Even though I can make choices through dialogue, the limited camera view takes away a lot of the rpg-feeling and makes the game feel more linear and controlled.

-when selecting more than one party member the other party members randomly got stuck in the terrain or just didn't response. But selecting the newest party member and controlling it with awsd made the other members follow. Mouse control did not work (in those situations).

Looking forward to see what the da2-story brings, though.

...No, neither Hawke nor Flemeth, nor Bethany was 'very endowed'. Isabela was the only one, and exaggerated Bethany. People absolutely refuse to acknowledge that Bethany has a normal model when you're playing normally.

I have played the demo, and was extremely dissapointed.

First of all the whole graphic design seems to have been changed-the scenary looks like high fantasy setting ravaged by magic, rather than Ferelden. The characters look more like Asian Anime regarding their weapons and armour than normal fantasy.

But perhaps most sad was the change in look of Darkspawn-instead of barbaric primitive creatures they now look like standard cartoonish "minions of evil", gone are brute weapons and armour-now they have orderly unified armor with helms even looking like coming from renaissance. I prefered the previous brutal primitive Darkspawn.

Flemeth-is that a witch or sorcerer-queen? Complete change of vision-not one that I like.

Now the voice-oh the voice. It's awful in term of Male Hawke, completely didn't feel like my hero. I liked Fem Hawke's voice, but since I don't feel good playing females, I would prefer the old standard of silent hero.

The dialogue overall seems stiff and forced-and the choices I make in it don't seem to matter much at all-unlike in Dragon Age 1.

Combat-oh my freaking Cthulhu! What is this-are all mages Ninjas ? Is the Rogue a wizard who teleports himself to attack enemies-it's simply ridiculous now with all the flash-magic-ninja moves. Completely ruined immersion for me. If I wanted to play a Japanese combat game-I would buy one. I wanted to play Dragon Age.

I didn't feel attachment to characters-I had little choice in their name, origins or background-unlike in DA 1 where there was a great selection of different available characters to play.

So in conclusion-the game designers have changed their vision of the world completely-it is now a combat game based more on shallow Japanese combat games to me. I will certainly not buy it, and recommend to all RPG fans out there to spend their money on better products. I might lend it from a friend later, but for now I my money will go elsewhere-while Dragon Age 1 was for me a great game, on which I do not regret spending money, this product seems to be only Dragon Age in name only. Unfortunately, as this had potential to be a great series...

I love that you can level up in the middle of combat now. Makes it easier to rack up my experience points and use them only when I need to in certain sticky situations. yum yum!

I prefer glitches to ninja-mages and wizard-rogues teleporting on the battlefield.

well I played the game on PS3 and didnt really experience any gamebreaking glitches.  What makes you think that DA2 isnt going to have glitches anyway?  This is a dumb question.

Question to the PC Gamers:

How fluid is the combat without the overhead view? I played pretty much every battle in DA:O zoomed out so I could move the party around more easily and place traps and spells accurately.

I've skimmed the thread and couldn't find a PC player that was content with the camera, so this worries me.
