You will not find a PC player that is happy with the game full stop! not if they have played RPG's like i have over the years. I am a 38 yr old man and have played the best of the. Dragon age origins struck me as superb, right up there with baldurs. This has literally done my head in playing this demo...... cant understand it..........

The demo can be played just as tactically as you played DAO.  The difference is that people now have an option for a more direct approach.

Just as tactically how? Darkspawn still pop like balloons in 2 seconds, there is virtually no point to any of it. Tactical controls are basically a glamour thing in DA2.

I like today's Action RPG's but I too miss the classic Strategy/RPG heavy RPG's.

There are no REAL RPG'S left out there I don't think.

Sad

Having played the demo further, each class multiple genders as well. I decided to see what Bioware did for creatures scaling with your attributes. And it turns out that it is mostly the same system as Dragon Age Origins for creature scaling, some things can be wiped out in 1 hit when you have obscene attributes and others, namely what would be the squad leaders for creatures, scale to die in 3-4 hits still. Since we can not mess around with our inventory I am unable to check to see if creature scalability would be affected at all by attribute increasing equipped items or not, though honestly it really shouldn't as the character isn't any stronger they are being given an advantage through an item and should be no need to scale creatures to attributes that come from equipped items.

Did I miss something in my two play throughs? Flemeth was also very endowed, the only flat chested female was Hawke herself and I have a nippleing suspicion it may have been only because she was wearing bulky armor.

She was not a cow like Hawke's sister.:P I have played the three classes as female and I would say that she (Hawke) seems in the intermediate levels from the little I remember about her "front".

Personally, I find killing the same "skeleton ninja" Darkspawn every 15 seconds kind of boring as well.

It was the same way on Normal mode in DAO - Which required zero tactics.  If you spend the time to really look at the skill trees, there's some great stuff in there and there are going to be some awesome cross class combinations.   Ramp up the difficulty a little bit and what we'll get is a faster paced DAO.

Thank you Bioware - for the Aurora Engine. So that Witcher could exist (Planescape Torment of its era, for those who can truly understand what it means).

Without Bioware, we will not be able to play a really good rpg game this year (which is Witcher 2 obviously).

Go

They would simply use a different engine.

I have been playing the pc demo time and again for the last 2 days, do not know why most people are complaining because i really like it, combat animations are nice and i like the art style.

To my opinion dragon age looked dated the day it came out and it needed the graphical overhaul.

I have been playing these games since Baldur gate and i have to say the gameplay is probaly just as tactical as ever if you keep in mind that the difficulty settings are on normal and not on nightmare.

I personaly like to pause and micromanage everything, therefore i think bioware made a mistake not including the autoattack in the console version of the demo, that's why there are so many people complaining its no longer a rpg but turned into a buttonmasher.

All in all i am content with the way it turned out but i will be buying this one for pc eventhough i was planning to play it on ps3.

Sorry.. play on PC.. older than you... probably played more RPG's than you (remember the hobbit on the spectrum anyone ?) Just because you can't understand it doesn't mean it's awful. Sure I don't like some things but having played multiple times I'm getting more comfortable with it (still think my major gripe is the ability of hurlocks to burst in a bloody splatter as soon as they see a thorn bush). Combined with the other media, such as  live chats/demos etc I don't see that much different between DAO and DA2. Sure the combat is aimed at a different demographic but the rest and interesting parts are still there and may even have been improved.

When dx11 will be enabled it will look much better, but still it's not what i was hoping to see.

for the da2 people that think its worse than the first...answer me this how did you like the fact that there were so many glitches in DA:O?

I prefer glitches to ninja-mages and wizard-rogues teleporting on the battlefield.

maybe its my selective memory but the only real glitch I recall was a drop I couldn't pick up because it was too close to a wall.

which reminds me, in the demo Hawke got stuck attacking a rock outcropping instead of going up it to the enemy.

the stuff I posted I didn't like I already knew about - but was reserving judgement. The dialogue change is hugely disappointing to me.

are you a PC user

i got used to the repetitive crowd slaughtering with Origins, which was about half of that game's content

They made a calculation and probably decided that will earn more money by selling it to console gamers. EA likely helped.

Too fast and the graphics are no better than DAO (which I am playing now). In fact, I prefer the art style of DAO too.

Demo for PC.  I have enjoyed the whole experience. Except the download part.:innocent:

There is lot of combat for being just the beginning of the game but it's understandable. The Final Fantasy XIII feeling at the beginning (a game that I don't dislike) isn't the greatest thing though. At least the camera is better.

Graphics look better than in DAO which is always a nice thing. The new look of the darkspawn feels a bit weird. No problem if you don't change it again for DA 3.:P

Flemmeth looks awesome. Double awesome than in DAO. One of the few non well endowed women of the demo.:P I prefered the more "shy" women of DAO but as long as I don't have to see a chainmail bikini...<_<

I like the conversation wheel and the visual help it provides. I select what I want to say considering how I want to react to the situation but it's nice to have it.

Combat is fun and fast. I would enjoy a combat like in War of the Lions, and combat like in Baldur's Gate is very nice. But Bioware has made possible to enjoy a more action based gameplay since Mass Effect. That said, I love to pause very often and check my different options and such. The combat feels like that of DAO but more agile. And I prefer to enjoy a game for what it is and not for what other games were.

I like the animations and the mage looks awesome in combat. The skill trees seem interesting but with the limits placed on the demo, not sure if better/worse/same as DAO. Oh, Healing requiring 60 seconds seems too much but again, it's a demo so no real possibilities of evaluation. When playing as mage, even with cooldown it saved me as all my team fell and I found myself killing the ogre and some hurlocks just by myself.

I read in the forums about how weird it was to create "your own" character after the initial battle and I must agree. Not big deal for me but weird anyways. And unlike those who think that "their" characters are only those created by themselves and not the default ones by Bioware, I do remember what a roleplaying game is and how the customization is just an added bonus. Female Hawke has very pretty eyes by the way!

These. Thou i'd like to add that the UI seems a bit too minimalistic and not much that of a role playing game, but then again i still liked it in its own way. The voices that I heard (still haven't played the female hawke) were really good and added depth to the story.

I failed to find a button to select the whole party; I would like to ask to have a friendly fire toggle option on the Esc menu or at least add it to some other difficulties other than Nightmare.

Bottomline loved it, just make sure to add more strategy necessity to the combat.

Sorry, not all PC players share your opinion. I've played Neverwinter Nights (1 and 2...1 was better) as well as DA:O, The Witcher, and others I'm blanking on at the moment, and I have no issues what-so-ever with not needing to pause constantly to play.

Imo, the action-y bit is fun.

DX11 or DX9? If DX11 try to change to DX9. I had the same problem with a nvidia card. 2FPS to 60FPS after that.

What graphical overhaul? I keep seeing people say this but the graphics look well below DA:O.

Yes, the character models are slightly better. But that's it. There's more to a game's look than just the number of polys on the characters.

The terrain and scenery is absolutely hideous. The Lothering outskirts were nothing but the same bland grey flat ground in all directions and go figure, more bland grey ground at the "background". The locations in the demo were horribly empty, Hightown was barely an improvement.

Not to mention the "floating weapons" on rogues or Bethany's staff during those cutscenes.

Combat is aimed at a different demographic Aidunno ! thats a huge change then. That means the lovers of DAO could dislike this. Which I do. And if you are a lover of RPG's as you say, i find it difficult to understand mind set in regards to this demo.

This is my biggest gripe with the demo. Back stabbing should be (always has been) a static ability in rogues. You flank an enemy and you automatically backstab dealing high amounts of damage. This is to make up for the penalties the rogue's take to attack and and constitution etc. The reason to have a rogue in the party (apart from lockpicking and disarming traps etc) is so he/she can flank an enemy and deal massive backstab damage while the enemy is distracted by the big tough warrior.

This back stab ability in DA2 should be a high level skill.
