Welp i played it thru, cutscenes interesting and well done, combat somnifacient. I suppose i prefer anticipation rather than a blowout.

Critiques towards obvious progression, in DAO the higher difficulties were kinda unrewarding, in DA2 i dont see the point anymore to go higher than that.

Ok the demo was almost completely cutscene, but dont know if it is just me, i actually saw them as the primary gameelement. *That what you play the game for*. Oftentimes it is a habbit for me to skip dialogue, skip cutscenes, skip anything to regain control, but this one is the other way around lol?

I guess the full game will have to have a multitude more game elements in it, if it is still to be called an RPG.

Isn't it Baldur's Gate that had the ****** annoying steel shortage? Because that was the best thing any could ever do to make people keep playing; have every single weapon in the early part of the game break randomly, so you had to buy out every weapon in every shop. Oh, wait, no. It was a **** idea.

The Aurora engine games were great, but they were a little bit micromanage-y and the combat didn't flow that well for me. But, if you only have eyes for late 90s RPGs, feel free to attempt to stifle progress.

Lol, naysayers are eating their hats right about now.

This demo is terrific, I booted up The Witcher on Steam and it's laughable how bad TW is in comparison.

Gonna roll a mage now.

Played Xbox Demo... 5 times (Mage, S&B, 2H War, DW Rogue, Archer)...

-Graphics and art design are vastly improved over the shades of gray in Origins.

-Personal preference, but I like the voiced player char.

-I enjoy the new combat animations. Really feels more fluid and looks more... epic.

-I will reserve judgement on the "improved combat system" until I can toggle on auto attack. Mash A repeatedly makes me feel like I'm playing Dynasty Warriors

-There are some clipping issues with the bow and also with 2h weapon. I understand it may not be fixable at this point... but I hate seeing my sword going through my leg.

-My main gripe is with the camera. Particularly when switching targets. I hate killing an enemy, to find out that the rest of the enemies are behind me... and hawke (particularly the DW rogue) leaps through the air to attack them but my camera is still facing the way of the last enemy I was attacking. Nothing I can't quickly correct... just wish it switched on its own.

--Overall, I really enjoyed it. It will make the wait for the full release difficult. At least it's only a couple of weeks.

Don't mind them, they're envious, otherwise they wouldn't stick around and keep posting :P

Alright, here are my thoughts after playing through the PC demo.

1. FIX DX11

The game is EXTREMELY crash prone on DX11. This may be purely a demo issue, but either way, it needs to be fixed. I wasn't able to actually get past the 2nd Ogre fight until I switched to DX9 due to the crashing.

2. Camera

Why did you have to go and get rid of the isometric? The current camera just feels wonky, and isn't particularly fun. It's also quite irritating trying to properly aim a fireball when I can't even see where the fireball is going since the camera doesn't go that far.

3. Difficulty

Initially getting used to the camera and maneuvering my party made the game seem a tad more "difficult", but when I got adjusted everything went right back to a slaughter. The real problem with the difficulty is the matter that you guys removed FF from Normal. Which is stupid. The fights basically consisted of having the tank get some darkspawn crowded around themselves, and then nuking the bejesus out of them by targeting right on top of the tank. This "tactic" trivializes the game. That shouldn't be. FF should be completely turned off for Casual and back to 50% on Normal.

4. Combat

I was doubtful, but I enjoyed it. It's fun. It's certainly sped up, but ya pretty quickly fail to really notice it, or the wacky over the top animations. It is pretty close to DA:O.

5. Tactics AI

Hardly a change from DA:O, which is actually a problem. In particular Bethany couldn't aim a fireball to save her life.

6. Graphics

Obviously the demo had locked graphics, what little we could change however I had maxed out. Needless to say, this game NEEDS those hi-res textures you said we would be getting separately.

Sums it up really, I'll be preordering now at least.

Bioware: Fix the camera, iron out some bugs and you've done good people.

Edit: The Witcher was a broken, ugly bowl of ass.

The PC demo has known performance and stability issues with DirectX 11. These have been fixed in the final game.

We recommend that all users disable DirectX 11 while playing the demo, including those with high-end machines.

Loved it. I played as a rogue, since that was my favorite class in Origins, and I am thrilled by all the changes!

- The awkward shuffling really is gone! Yay! Now you can just jump straight into combat instead of having to maneuver into position before striking.

- Spells and abilities are flashy, but not over the top.

- The rogue animations are not as over the top as some people were making them out to be. They seem to suit the class well.

- Really happy with the changes made to bombs. I never used them in Origins, but now that they have their own skill tree, I think that's all going to change.

- Still really impressed with the voice acting. It's superb.

- I'm glad that the aggressive dialogue paths come across as more 'defensive' or, "stop your whining!" than "I am going to kill you all!" Really makes the act of role-playing a character easier when I can aggressively defend my apostate sister without threatening to maim and torture.

- Everything looks amazing, especially Flemeth. Whether Varric is embellishing her appearance or not, she definitely looks like a formidable witch of the wilds now.

Honestly, I think I'm going to be playing this demo over and over again until March 8th.

I really enjoyed the demo, combat was fluid even though I did feel that AoE seems a bit overpowered considering the amount of enemies there are on screen (especially in the first part).

Also, coming from a real warrior guy, mages look amazing. So much in fact that they make the other classes look boring. Fire storm is awesome!

The only real issue I had with the demo, and this is a big one, was the loading between EVERY SINGLE LINE OF DIALOG. If that makes it into retail (which I pray it won't) I'll probably go mad before I finish the game. The constant pausing, even though they are short, completely ruins the mood for me.

All in all though I am eagerly looking forward to the full game.

EDIT:

Why the f**k are everyone comparing DA2 and TW with one another!?  Saying that one is better then the other and so forth. You don't have to get TW2 _OR_ DA2, it's not an exclusive choice. You can buy both of them you know...

Yea, thats why that game still has such a large dedicated fan base today, is regarded as the best RPG ever made, and was the best game bioware ever made.

The tainted iron idea was fine. All you had to do was use magical weapons instead which were easilly available.

Also trying to even imply that Baldurs Gate was in any way worse than DA2 just shows how completely clueless you are about RPgs, its no wonder why you would like DA2 so much.

So. Are bioware going to release a toolset/mod thing for this game so that we can get some mods? I certainly hope so.

You've gone full retard in comparing a game that came out in 2007 to one in 2011.

Apparently it's not that simple; you don't seem to be aware of the all-encompasing nature of the designation "RPG". Mass Effect 2 is an action RPG.

XBox 360 - tried the warrior class

I've been avoiding as much as I possibly can about the game in order to be as spoiler-free as possible, so if I mention something "everyone" should know, remember that.

The graphics were crisper than I would have thought, and the animations very fluid. No slowdown to report as of yet, but I haven't tried the other two classes. I didn't happen to see very much going on during the Fireball spell, so I wondered if the "flashy effects" were only for the upgrade of the spell. The facial expressions and animations are much better than the previous game, at least on the 360.

It was interesting to go from auto-attack to having to press one button over and over to attack; once I had the option to swap from 2H to Sword and Board I went with that. Everything felt a bit more responsive overall, though there were moments when I would use Taunt and an enemy would still go after Bethany.

Party AI seemed like a great improvement, everyone did their job fairly well without having to pause to give orders. Usually it took some tinkering in the menus to get a nice setup, but not this time. Tank mode was a nice addition to the tactics. The menu redesign to resemble ME2 was strange, but the cleaner presentation of the skill trees was very appreciated.

Some of the cutscenes had a small bit of lag when they started, mostly during Varric's interrigation and after I met Isabella. Wesley's audible dialogue wasn't loading when I spoke to him, though the text did. Overall, it felt strange to go from operating in a planned manner like DA:O into this demo; it played well enough, just a bit out of touch with its' roots.

Not much to complain about, really enjoyed the time I've spent so far. I love the song in the credits, "I'm Not Calling You A Liar" by Florence and the Machine. Gonna try the other classes when I get some time, looking forward to the full game!

Played PC Version.

Graphics

Graphics were great but nothing of a major improvement from Origins, but I'm not buying it for the graphics mainly, it's all about the gameplay/story for me.

Gameplay

Loved the new combat system, I'm a true supporter of the old Baldur's Gates and Icewind Dale series but this combat seems more appropriate. Fast paced, chaotic and awesome, I personally prefer DA:2 than Origins in the combat department.

I actually struggled on my first playthrough as Warrior, my whole team died on the Ogre battle except Aveline, thank god she was there, but i'm just too used to having a healer on my team I suppose.

There were a few bugs when your walking with the mage where they were somehow walking as if they were totally smashed on booze or something, but it may have been the starting area terrain that did it (because thats where I noticed it big time).

Voice/Music

I didn't like Male Hawke's voice at all, don't suppose anyone else agrees? But I wasn't expecting that as i'd not heard his voice yet (not been keeping up with trailers etc lately). But the Female Hawke's was better. All the other characters were great, loved Varric!

Music was great, felt like I was back in Origins, just remixed tunes which I liked.

Overall

Can't wait :o

Funny how The Witcher 1, released in 2007, has far better graphics and gameplay than Dragon Age 2, about to be released in 2011.

LOL.

You know, honestly, right now I'm pretty disappointed in this demo, and that says a lot coming from me, who probably gets lumped in with the "BDF" most of the time.

Right on launch I got the missing d3dx9_43.dll error message, which I found the workaround for, but now I crash every time I try to get past the customization screen (and I'm not trying to run it in DX11).

Aside from that, the loading during cutscenes is choppy and obtrusive and the lipsynching is off in some of the cutscenes.

And I mean, I know it's a demo, but this really has me questioning my choice of PC as the platform for my preorder. I prefer to play this sort of game on PC but if it's going to be a bugfest I just don't know.

I want to love this game. Help me out here, guys.

(yes I do have a thread in the tech support forum. I'm waiting on a reply)
