Wow!!! After reading some of these comments, I noticed people wanting this game to walk, talk, and fight on its own. Did some of you want a game, or did you people want an animated movie?

Depends if they're MGS fans :P

Use a Download Manager, worked for me, and i'd advise using Download Manager's whenever you get a file above a gig.

Aside from that, the loading during cutscenes is choppy and obtrusive and the lipsynching is off in some of the cutscenes.

Where are these loading screens inbetween cutscenes? I barely noticed them if there are any.. Unless you mean from Wilds > Kirkwall, because that seemed to me like the Demo hopping zones to show you.

I haven't even gotten past the customization screen so no, that's not what I mean. There are load times at the start of every cutscene and after every dialogue choice for me and it's pretty lame.

Ah, strange, not happened to me. Your on PC too? :(

Yep.

I played a rogue on Xbox. And it took me 1'30h (yes, it's true! )

-The new combat style is just amazing! I fell in love with the new moves: more fast, more beauty. I love the new abilities.

-I found the text size a bit small (I have the game with subs, my TV is a sony bravia-37'')

-I love the conversation wheel. The new responses style is awesome, I like it so much. Makes me wanna try all styles of humor character in many plays.

-I hate that one of my brothers has to die. It's so sad, I'd wanted them with me the whole game >_

-Oh, I had a bug in the last battle: My Hawke had her arms close tight to her body all the time.

-And I love the cutscenes with Varric and Cassandra. Varric looks really sexy with these expressions of him xD And I love this. Someone telling the story I'm playing. It's so epic and exciting.

-I liked to have the rival/friend thing in differents ways with my siblings. I love the new rivalry/friendship paths system.

-I loved Flemeth too! Her design is so awesome, I like so much her scene, it's so exciting to have en encounter with someone from Origins.

-Two deads is sad. Poor Weasly too. It's too emotion.

-I love the scenes with Isabela! It's so sexy and dinamic!

-And I've like so much the town *_________________* I can't wait to hang around there.

-I don't like not be able to save game.

And... I've loved the demo so much! I was so exciting while I played! I can't wait for the whole game, it gonna be amazing. I'm gonna play the demo with a mage and a warrior too, and try all the responses options!

Thank you so much for such a beautiful piece of art! You've made me so happy!

The Tactics system feels clunky. With Bethany I couldn't set a tactic that allowed me to use any of the Self options.

I wish the Behavior and Presets were drop downs so I have a could just glance over the list instead of having to go through all of them.

During combat, I found myself wanting to Tab target through my enemies. Maybe it's a habit from other games...

I also would like to see hp bars for all current enemies (perhaps slightly more transparent than my current target?).

I am using the Directx 11 engine, and every now and then it would turn into window mode for no apparent reason (without stopping the game).

Characters:
I hope the arbitrary character looks are just for the demo, if I am forced to play a defaul short haired tomboy look I'll be overly sad. Customisation lost is a bad thing. I'm just assuminig this is a demo thing so I'll leave it at that. As for voice acting, it's great.. but I really prefer no voices for Main character.. it good for immersion, but voice acting is fine to. At least the character doesn't sound butch (Female) like in Mass Effect. Good choice on the VC.

The Devs have said that there will be face customization in the real game, but it was just locked in the demo.

Overall I liked it, and it was quite fun. I noticed a few minor graphical issues (like being able to see a sliver of the whites of the eyes through the top of the upper eyelid) - plus this lace that seemed to stick out from a weird spot on Leandra's dress when she was mourning Bethany. That aside, the graphics have improved from DA:O quite a bit. I even noticed the freckles on Aveline. I had my graphics maxed out with the AA turned on & some of the other stuff, so I don't know if that caused any of the oddities.

I used all the characters' abilities (except for Varric & isabela because I was able to do a fair amount of damage with mage, so they died before I could get around to it) and like them all. I played as mage Marian (heh), and I'm quite with the mage abilities. I thought the characters' emoting was pretty good. The paraphrasing system worked out fine for me because I could make the connection between the paraphrases and the spoken lines.

I was able to play just like I did in DA:O and paused quite often. Not that the ogre was a breeze, but I was able to kill it in a timely manner - largely because I kept my whole party alive (unlike people in the demo videos who always seem to get their party members killed). Camera didn't pull out far, but combat was fine. I could see everything I needed to, so that was alright with me.

EDIT: Oh yes, I noticed that weird "Loading..." in certain areas when going from combat to a cutscene, etc. Not sure what  was causing that. Perhaps it's because it's a demo and not the actual game, but I assume it won't be present in the actual game (was a bit jarring).

EDIT 2: Looks like that "Loading..." thing has been fixed according to Mike.

  Graphics:
They aren't to bad, few stability issues with DX11 but the game looks decent, for a console/PC Game. Wish the graphics were pushed a bit with the PC Version but whatever can't complain to much.

Gameplay:
Feels very dumbed down. Like it was created to appeal to a broader audience. While not a bad decision it does feel very different to the original Dragon Age. I feel like a lot of what made DA good isz now gone. Flashy gameplay is great but trying to make the easier well more streamlined like for Mass Effect 2 kind of ruined what the game was about. Old School RPG madness.. is just gone. Tactics view really isn't needed anymore. Why wasn't the old formula used? I'm sure on higher difficulties things like tactics might come into play, but the large massive amounts of enemies make it feel like its more of an action oriented game. Bioware you are losing your touch here, why try to appeal to a broader audience but forsake your old school fans that loved your older games. Stop Streamlining your games so much it ruins them. I feel if there is a Dragon Age 3 it's just going to be a cinematic game like Mass Effect 2.

Combat:

Basically see above. It feels way to different to the original. It's to late to even consider changing anything but still I think it's going in a bad direction. It's to action oriented and less tactical.

Camera:

Its a bit different but it's something I can get used to. I've no complaints about it really.

Characters:

Yup the character look will be customisable in the full game.

Yea, thats why that game still has such a large dedicated fan base today, is regarded as the best RPG ever made, and was the best game bioware ever made.

The tainted iron idea was fine. All you had to do was use magical weapons instead which were easilly available.

Also trying to even imply that Baldurs Gate was in any way worse than DA2 just shows how completely clueless you are about RPgs, its no wonder why you would like DA2 so much.

What? No. No, it isn't and I am in no way alone. There is at least it's sequel, Planescape: Torment and the first two Fallout games that most would rank higher above the first Baldur's Gate. Then, I'd throw in Morrowind and Deus Ex (FPS RPG, but whatever it's a moot point). For what it's worth, I regard (edit) KOTOR as Bioware's best so far.

It's an old game for people who refuse to move on into the present. I used to be like that, and shyed away from anything that wasn't Forgotten Realms. But then I pulled my head out of my arse and realised that a grainy isometric view with a laboured interface isn't the bes thing since sliced bread, especially in 2011.

Its not my problem that you like dumbed down and easy to play games. I dont. I like nice graphics as much as anyone else, but that has nothing to do with it. No RPG games these days have the same kind of depth and gameplay that the Baldurs Gate series had.

DUDE....

I've played it 3 times now. The first, I was a mage, then a rogue, and then... a rogue again because it was just too freakin AWESOME. Fighting in this game makes me feel like a God.

And I nearly had a heart attack (in a good way) when I saw the customization screen.... then my whole attitude fell about ten feet when I read the "locked" message at the bottom. I was SO excited to see hair options!

However, I had a really, really hard time defeating the ogre as a mage. Can't say if I'll be trying it again. Everyone kept dying even after the level ups and I had to run around, evading him until I weakened him enough to finish him off. Took me 4 tries. But as a rogue, it was easy cheesy. :P

I did notice though, that if when I was a rogue, after Carver died, he would show up in the Hanged Man instead of Bethany. I could have read through this thread to see if anyone else had the same issue, but... I was too anxious to comment myself.

Overall, LOVED IT! Two more weeks is just painfully too long.
How will I pass the time, I wonder?

Liked the pc demo alot.

They really need to brighten up the skill tree and change font color.

Could barely see skills in the skill tree, not to mention their description.

Combat does look amazing! I can now finally play a warrior and not be bored.

2H skill Whirlwind needs a serious dmg nurf imho.

Last but not least, loading during cutscenes was serious immersion breaker.

Just finished the demo, and there's only one thing that I'm unhappy about - making (at least "officially") High and Very High graphic settings for DirectX 10 and 11 owners only. Now, I can understand SOME graphical features being DirectX 10 and 11 only like in alot of games these days, but making entire graphic settings options from High to Very High for DirectX 10 and 11 only is just ridiculous.

I can only hope that fans can tweak around this.

Well that was a fun little field test. It was kinda like playing Mass Effect 2 for the first few minutes everything is different and it's uncomfortable but then after a few moments you can adjust and see just how much fun the changes have made the game.

I enjoyed the combat a lot. The Mage especially has much more combat animation than just static fireing attack and pokey stick attack. Everything has a pace to it and it;s less slow and clunky and more realisticly fast paced like an action movie sequence. This was quite welcome suprise.

Normal mode did feel quite easy but i guess this will change later in the game though i'm not somebody who likes impossibly hard games anyway so i don't really have an issue with the difficulty it was much easier to grasp than DAO which made starting up pretty simple.

The dialogue was well done and i like the wheel over the list of choices it looks a bit nicer. The voice acting in the demo was decent and i like Hawkes female voice (have yet to try the male)

The only real negative i can say at this stage is the camera is annoying. The angle makes it hard to see what is ahead and not being able to zoom out much makes combat more complicated than it needs to be.

The game had a few random spaz moments where the fps dropped down rapidly for no reason and was stuttery in DX11 at times though that may have more to do with my GPU than anything. I'm guessing being a demo it'd have a few hiccups though.

All in all i enjoyed it. A lot less fears about the new game now. It'll be a new experience yet a familar one too. It's Dragon Age but with enough newness on it to feel fresh and in the end i'm glad for that approach when i buy a new game i want to experience something new and they have achieved that without ripping out what made DAO great.

I enjoyed it. The combat seemed a *lot* easier than the early stages of DA:O. I miss the zoomed-out tactical camera for combat, but I suppose I'll learn to live without it. It feels like this game is to KOTOR what DA:O was to BG. The dialogue and voice acting were both excellent, as expected.

I hope the combat ends up being a bit more challenging than the demo at least.

I really don't get the genre arguments. I mean either you like the game, or you don't, Whether it's called RPG, action adventure, action rpg, new age rpg, western rpg, dosn't matter much to me. I enjoyed the demo, it was fun. Personally I liked the difficulty, fell somewhere between BG 2 and DAO in my experience.

Always interesting to read the wide variety of views.

Listen, you sound like an ass. If you hate the game so much, how about you leave? That way, you don't have to deal with our stupidity, and we don't have to tell with your intelligence.

The worst RPG ever....

It's like another game, my PC is crying out for the mess they made....

Thanks Bioware, now i's sure what i will buy next: The Witcher 2....

Someone else here has a working brain :)

The Witcher 2 = Yay for us. DA2 = Yay for the stupids.

It's simple i like RPG: so Dragon Age 2 is far away from my taste..... That's not an RPG, no way i can call it so, no way someone can call Mass Effect 2 an rpg... These games are action-adventures....

Apparently it's not that simple; you don't seem to be aware of the all-encompasing nature of the designation "RPG". Mass Effect 2 is an action RPG.

And what part of Mass Effect 2 was RPG? The dialogues? I call it an action adventure, were the action is a Gears of war style game with dialogues and cutscenes... I don't remember any RPG element in it....

You don't remember any roleplaying elements in Mass Effect 2?

Aside from the fact that you're playing the role of Shepard, to the point where you can make decisions which affect the story, characters and virtually every other facet of the game-world... there are numerous ways to improve your character - though leveling up and procuring better equipment.

I'm failing to see how anyone could claim that it is not an RPG, and if you seriously consider the only differences between ME2 and GoW to be the ability to pick your own dialogue then maybe you should play both games again.

the demo was really, *really* disappointing. all it showed was a long dragged sequence of repetitive fighting in a wasteland (mostly graphically, da1 environments looked better) that should not exist - cannot remember lothering being wasteland in da1 - and a random fight against humans which basically was the same as the fights before, just a bit shorter. the darkspawn running animation was awkward. they were running like ... like teletubbies.
there is supposed to be at least a bit of RPG. where is it?

The demo erased every doubt I ever had. The combat system is flawless and even better than the DAO one. 'nuff said.
EDIT: Wait, actually there was one thing. It seemed to load in the middle of conversations all the time. Though it got better by the end it was extremely annoying!

Nah, this is a great game for all the people who think that the Baldur's Gate series sucks and was way too hard. They needed something far far more simple, and dumbed down to the point where all they had to do was point, click, and win.

We had some problems with loading before conversations in some PC configurations that are likely what you've been experiencing. My wife's PC had similar issues, and I can happily confirm that hers no longer has this issue between the time we were working on the demo and the final builds of the game. Likely an issue that's already resolved in the shipping build.
