IMO this demo was a mistake, with all the features and graphics options locked out people are getting a false impression of the game.

Fallout 3 is Fallout only by name. New Vegas, being developed largely by the same people who did the original games, although very consolified, did manage to capture the feel of the series much better.
But this is OT.
As a avid fan of Fallout 1 and 2, I thought Fallout 3 did just fine and in many places even better than its predecessors. Better graphics, combat, dark atmosphere, and it still had the dark feel of the previous games. Fallout New Vegas brought back some of the humour and sexual themes. Now that I think about it, Fallout 3 reminded me more of Fallout 1, while Fallout New Vegas reminded me more of Fallout 2.

It's consistently clear from this thread that console players and those that don't care about combat having any tactical elements whatsoever will probably love DA2 while the rest of us will hate it. Bioware made DA:O as a PC game first, ported to the consoles. The combat, art design and decreased graphic fidelity show that DA2 is a console game first, ported to the PC. I don't know of any successful game that followed this approach, and many that failed because of it.
I'll be saving my money for Skyrim, among other things.
I hate how people can make assumtions like this about console gamers. I'm sorry that if I have the option to play a 60+ hr game on either my couch with a large tv or sit at my desk I choose my couch. I truely enjoyed DAO and the only complaint I had about the combat was that it was to easy. I beat the game on nightmare my first play through, I did need to drop it down to hard for a bit of the rogue origin though.
I also find it funny that you criticize the graphics, yet you state you're saving your money for Skyrim. I save my money by not buying anything by Bethesda till they learn how to animate.

I have some hope for nightmare mode.
I naively hope it's Baldur's Gate 2, with character perma-death and friendly fire and no auto-healing and the works.
- There will be no game with 6 chars because console gamepad is more fit to fewer characters.
- There will be no increase in tactical aspects, because consoles favor action over strategy.
- Radial menus everywhere.
Every once-decent RPG's are drifting to action slasher. ie - Fallout 3 is utterly devoted to consoles. Same fate awaits Dragon Age, sadly.
Sorry, but Fallout 3 was not devoted to consoles. Fallout 3 as was New Vegas and even Oblivion, (they all used the same engine or variant) were specifically developed for each system type. Bethesda has even stated this on their blogs before. Fallout 3 was much better to use on PC clicking with a mouse than it was with a controller on the console, and I have both versions.

Are the graphics better than DAO? I couldn't tell, they looked similar to me. But that was in DX9 mode.

ALL demos are a mistake honestly. Simple reasoning being because of what you've stated. And because of that, people end up not buy or canceling their pre-orders because something isnt exactly the same as the game's predecesor (some some other trivial detail.)

I am totally dissapointed. DA:О had so much potential, it was like first Baldurs gate - great, but not ideal. Dragon age 2 should have been a legendary game. I can't understand how could you screw this up, it's totally insane. In demo i saw anime hack and slash violence and epic pirate girl boobs - marvelous work bioware. Call to arms! I recruit players all over the world for 1 million torrent downloads of Dragon age 2! Maybe after that bioware will start listen to its fans.
Yup, they will listen and simply stop releasing anything to the PC. Nice plan!

Fallout 3 was ruined by Bethesda's hiring only five voice actors, and all the boring procedurally generated mazes. It didn't feel as scripted as an RPG should be. Just a bunch of stupid AIs running around doing crap.

Well, you're description of the tedium of going through the same areas and portals can be pretty much described in any game. There was a huge variety in those dungeons, caves and Oblivion gates, not only in monsters and baddies, but in layout and questing. Skyrim is going to use a totally new game engine this time around, so I am especially excited.
You're kidding right? Virtually every area other than what you visit in the main quest just screams computer-generated maze. Repetition, repetition and then some more repetition. No people to interact with, no story, no nothing.
That's what I remember, but it was very pretty! Have to admit, though, aside from Morrowind and New Vegas, both of which I loved, non-linear sandbox type games are generally less fun for me (after the initial rush of exploration) than games with an emphasis on storytelling. x

Granted they could have had more voice actors, but everything you just stated could be held against the previous 2 games as well.

Huh? Every map in the original games had a purpose. It wasn't just a bunch of computer-generated mazes with generic trinkets at the end. It was all beautifully hand-crafted, and either boiled down to some sort of bizarre joke or was part of some plot line.

I actually just recently sold my copy of NV back to gamestop simply because I couldnt take all the damn bugginess and crashing, even after the latest patch (PS3 version and my console is practically brand new lol)

Likes:
-New combat "Now i actually feel like i am playing a rogue"
- Other members being responsive as u select them " Instead of Ohh you clicked me here let me put down this sandwich and do what you tell me."
-The Leveling Menu is much cleaner and wasnt soo compressed to me.
-The Hud looks alot cleaner imho "I hate Fancy non needed huds in games"
- The spell menu is automatically across the screen instead of a small Section." yea i know in DAO you could drag it across, but it was annoying because it would only save like that half the time for me"
-The Talent trees look alot better. "The old ones were fine, but i like the new (Spider web) type concept.
Dislikes:
- DX11 Not working right. "yea i know its a demo, but i wanted to max everything out"
- Servers Kept disconnecting as i was finishing the demo." That might of been my issue but i doubt it cuz i have everything configured with router and firewall to allow the EA servers."
- Graphics didnt look as good as youd think from DAO. " Might just be the DX11 Issue, Who Knows"
- Cant play as the other races." Maybe bring some DLC with them please, Because that was my fave part in DAO. Although i understand why when it comes to the story."
Alright theres my opinion on DA2 demo, but i do look foward to the game itself in a couple weeks.

Yeah, it's so bland. Where are all the little details that made Origins feel so alive?
I kind of agree, though to be fair, most of the demo was set in a blight-ravaged wasteland. Probably wasn't supposed to feel alive. And I don't think we saw enough of Kirkwall to say anything with certainty. Hope for something with a bit more 'buzz' about it than Denerim, though.

I said that there are expceptions, but in more serious series its not that common. Of course its different in school-comedy and others genres for kids and teenagers, but I thought that Dragon Age is supposed to be mature.Raraptor wrote...

Right now with this thing it is more of a action game, where you always play from the percpective of the charachter, that works better when you only have one charachter though... With more charachters I really at least would want to have that overhead view.
Of course the game is less tactical in other ways too, but this is certanly the biggest issue for me from stragety point of view.

That's a shame. I had very few issues on the PC, far fewer than with Fallout 3. I went in expecting the worst, bug-wise, but was very pleasantly surprised. Sorry to hear your experience was a bad one.
I should now try and say something on-topic. Errrrr, I love archers!

It looks drunk. Walk is fine, but she cant run.
Many people said it is a feature but i still think it is
a bug of my demoversion.
Edit: Other than that i think it will be a interesting
story set in the dragon age universe.

Mage is much more enjoyable in DA2 if the demo is any indication. I will actually play one this time instead of giving up after a mere few levels. I kind of wish we could get that chainmaille dress thing that Bethany kind of had going for ourselves though, ANY mage stuff with chain maille actually. If I were a mage, there would be some chain maille involved. *fingers crossed on that one*
But I really approve of the changes to Mage in general. Works much nicer, in my opinion...
Oh and the neck corset on Flemeth rocks too. I used to make and sell a version of those, a bit more asymmetical with lace or feathers though - but I *love* them for a female mage-type. Very cool![]()
^This!
I agree with you Shanti... mages are more fun to play this time around. I am inclined to play as one first. Oh, Shanti, thanks for the hearty laugh.
Nice post as always.

Have to agree there. They would have been better of showing one of the later quests... with a small part of the city explore and a fully working inventory and stuff.
The beginning of the game was a strange place to set a demo...

I could be wrong, but in A2 so far I saw only Isabela with an enourmous rack. Flemeth, Aveline and Bethany (the NORMAL version) haven't a large rack, and another companion, Merill, has a normal size. Maybe Mother Hawke has larger breast than average, I don't put my focu on them.
Anyway, in Origins a lot of women have a large breast. How do you feel about that?
