My only complaint/question.

Could there be an increased text size option for standard TV users?
I know, I know. "It's 2011. Go buy an HDTV."
I, along with thousands of others cannot afford new TVs.

I switched my pre-order from Bulletstorm to DA:2 due to the fact I thought I'd get more gameplay hours out of it. But I'm beginning to think I should remove that preorder. The combat was spot on. Pause and play is most likely how I'll play the majority of it. It's the text. I can't read it. As much as I loved the demo, if I have 20-20 vision and have to strain my eyes to get into the story, read codex(s?), then I'm willing to pay for something else.

Bioware, Please consider the less fortunate players. If not this time around, maybe next time.

You know, I've seen enough outcry about that issue that others like you have faced with the text. It seems like it'd be something easy enough to patch in later if its not already part of retail.

Ah, I hope they can fix it. However, I've decided I'm still going to buy it. I got to thinking. I'd rather play a Bioware game than any other game that has come out recently. Skyrim and ME 3 will be the next two I purchase. In my opinion, everything else is rent worthy, and nothing more.

Here you will find the answer to ALL your questions.....the real ones....the straight ones....

Bioware makes a huge mistake in my opinion.
If the company wanted to make a game closer to action packed, flashy, button mashing games should also keep in mind that there are a lot better looking, better matirialized titles out there that already cover that need.
It wants to reach out to that audience  but i believe it will just create a mess of  a game that has no character and uniqueness.
Instead of polishing and boosting  the games strongest card: classical rpg elements which is well known and loved for (with some graphical and artistical facelift to make it contemporary) ,it just waters down the hole thing with some second class action moves and explosions and immature "awesomeness".
It just doesn't work for me.
what else can i say.

Obviously, you haven't the faintest clue on how Bioware is run.

Obviously I don't work for Bioware. I am just look at quality of their products as a customer. Look at the low scores all the DLCs got at review sites. Not even awakening got close to score of original game.

Go look at DLC scores for other games.  Very rarely do they live up to the orignal unless your name is Rockstar or Valve.

You want to know why the big changes happen from ME1 to ME2 and DA:O to DA2?  It's because Bioware actually compiles what is written for feedback on these boards and adjusts accordingly.

ME1 Complaints:  This Inventory sucks!  Why do I need 47 Medical Exoskelton X's?  What the hell - Elevator rides?  Bioware, whats up with the Mako and empty planets?

ME2 Complaints:  Where's my inventory?  The end mission screen is terrible - I preferred the elevator rides!!!  Where's the exploration?!!!

DA:O Complaints:  Combat is boring!  Combat is unresponsive!  I feel like I'm wallking in mud!!!!

DA2 (Demo)Complaints:  It's God of War!  NO TATICZ!  Combat is too fast!!!

People around here want to know who to blame - Go look in the mirror.

The complaints usually comes from the part who liked the one in the previous games. As you know, the one hating will write more than the one loving, thus it seems that there is more hate than love - because those who like it don't discuss it as much as thsoe who hated it.

Agreed.  The angry minority is always louder.  That being said, it plays a big part of the process.

Played demo on PS3 -

I'll start with the negatives as there were only two - I got some graphical problems (Polygons stretching out from the centre of the screen) when playing on the ps3, I doubt it's my console as it's only 8 weeks old.

Hated the voice acting of Hawke's sister and that woman who's being told the story by the dwarf.

Pros!

Combat = Better than Origins, exaggerated, which is always nice. When you play Origins you see cut scenes (like the battle of Ostagar) with so many Darkspawn, but you never fought that many at a time so it's nice to be able to do that now, you also feel you need to part of the combat, everything in Origins was too slow for me.

A lot of the time in Origins I had to wait a long time after combat before corpses became lootable, which doesn't happen in the demo.

Ability/Spell effects look way cooler now.

Neutral:

You've switched to the type of dialogue system in Mass Effect 2. Although I like knowing which comment will be Good/Neutral/Bad, I don't like the idea of choosing to say something then hearing Hawke say something completely different, even if it may be the same concept. I prefer knowing my character has said exactly what i want him to.

Conclusion - 7/10, good demo, I reckon the game is going to be 100% more awesome, so much so I'm taking days off college to play !

Secretly I don't really want the game to be a massive success, if a game becomes too popular then the company tries to continue the trend by trying to cater to millions of people who want millions of different things and they end up ruining potentially awesome future games that are part of the series. I have that feeling about the Dragon Age series, as illogical and silly as it sounds :P

GO BIOWARE! :D

I kinda disagree, I mean its impossible to appease everyone but all in all I think theyve been doing a good job upgrading.  Wouldnt you all agree that Dragon Age 2 has taken a step ahead?  I might not be agreeable by everyone but i say keep on complaining and keep listening Bioware because your making good games each year~

I don't know if this was mentioned, but did you notice that the font type of the subtitles was Times New Roman and not the Dragon Age Font.

I hope this will be changed in the final version, because Times New Roman is really the ugliest font I know.

********   OK so make combat bit faster but keep it realistic. Why suddenly I see spiderman type of implementation. Jumping 15 feet high in air (you can pause Isabella when she attacks. It's consistently clear from this thread that console players and those that don't care about combat having any tactical elements whatsoever will probably love DA2 while the rest of us will hate it.  Bioware made DA:O as a PC game first, ported to the consoles.  The combat, art design and decreased graphic fidelity show that DA2 is a console game first, ported to the PC.  I don't know of any successful game that followed this approach, and many that failed because of it.

I'll be saving my money for Skyrim, among other things.

I hate how people can make assumtions like this about console gamers. I'm sorry that if I have the option to play a 60+ hr game on either my couch with a large tv or sit at my desk I choose my couch. I truely enjoyed DAO and the only complaint I had about the combat was that it was to easy. I beat the game on nightmare my first play through, I did need to drop it down to hard for a bit of the rogue origin though.

I also find it funny that you criticize the graphics, yet you state you're saving your money for Skyrim. I save my money by not buying anything by Bethesda till they learn how to animate.

Well, you can play the PC version on your couch in front of an HDTV, I am typing this in my recliner now. Some games even offer controller support so you can still use your 360 controller while getting better grpahics, shorter load times and mods to boot. Also, PC's don't get the RRoD. LOL

what a noob. you enjoy your little button mashing adventure while me and the legions of true rpg fans will be playing it on the pc on our nice HD monitors.

Exactly. The satisfaction don't need to repeat every time they are waiting satisfied. No need to multiply the threads screaming for her love, no need to play that will most exaggerate. The players wait, discuss other things ... and finally buy the game

Hmm.. who says that a button masher makes us any less of a true rpg fan?
It sounds like you dont like change very much because theres been a incredible amount of  recent games that are rpg to the core with a lot of button mashing that have come out
such as Dc Universe.
Plus how can you honestly feel like its an ropg when the game does all the work for you
I mean there no real initiative involved and I feel that takes away a lot from the game.  I mean you should be responsible for your attack not just press a button and let the game act on auto pilot.
Button Mashing FTW!

I second this!

I for one was very satisfied...a bit weirded out with Felemth's new look but still it was epic, and I am a BW through and through and so far they never failed to deliver (except maybe in ME2 to some extent) but that's now what this is about.

This is about DA2 and for me, DA2 demo is the reason why I decided that once I get money in my bank account on march 3rd I'm preordering!

I forgot to mention it but I was reminded of it while playing the demo again: gore bits.Do we really need the enemies to explode? Feels like Fallout 3 headshots. Not that it cannot be fun but it reminds me of why I always disable the gore options in games: ridiculous.:?

I hold them to their own standards as well.  And after playing their games for the past 14 years I'm not going to give them crap about subpar DLC, which I could care less about.  I don't need Metacritic to tell me that Awakenings scored less than DAO - I enjoyed the hell out of both of them.

And I'm also not going to go balistic every time that they make a change in a serious.  Especially over a demo.  Personally, I would have loved to see some of the stronger RPG elements carried over from ME1 to ME2.  But, it was a hell of a game regardless - The story was a bit weaker, but the art direction and combat were better.  Have they gone too far with the changes in DA2?  Tough to say from the demo - The new combat has both it's strong and weak points.  One thing I do know is that Bioware releases top notch games.  Throw them into whatever category you want.  RPG, Shooter hybrid, Hack N slash.  I don't care - I know I'll get a quality game with a great story.  14 years has taught me that.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you on wanting a good game. You're just being confrontive because it's not the game you personally want.

Well, if one is disappointed on what the demo proposed, what should it say?
And of course it's personal, one speaks for itself, not for the one million people that downloaded the game (it's called "personal opinion" and everyone is entitled to have one, you know?)
