Aww but the gore was amazing... :(
I mean how can you not love slicing down a giant dark spawn ogre
and having his remains coat your face and armor.
LoL  that sounds like a win to me :)

Funny thing is, enemies have been exploding when critically hit since BG1, nothing new there.

It's consistently clear from this thread that console players and those that don't care about combat having any tactical elements whatsoever will probably love DA2 while the rest of us will hate it.  Bioware made DA:O as a PC game first, ported to the consoles.  The combat, art design and decreased graphic fidelity show that DA2 is a console game first, ported to the PC.  I don't know of any successful game that followed this approach, and many that failed because of it.

I'll be saving my money for Skyrim, among other things.

I hate how people can make assumtions like this about console gamers. I'm sorry that if I have the option to play a 60+ hr game on either my couch with a large tv or sit at my desk I choose my couch. I truely enjoyed DAO and the only complaint I had about the combat was that it was to easy. I beat the game on nightmare my first play through, I did need to drop it down to hard for a bit of the rogue origin though.

I also find it funny that you criticize the graphics, yet you state you're saving your money for Skyrim. I save my money by not buying anything by Bethesda till they learn how to animate.

Well, you can play the PC version on your couch in front of an HDTV, I am typing this in my recliner now. Some games even offer controller support so you can still use your 360 controller while getting better grpahics, shorter load times and mods to boot. Also, PC's don't get the RRoD. LOL

what a noob. you enjoy your little button mashing adventure while me and the legions of true rpg fans will be playing it on the pc on our nice HD monitors.

Hmm.. who says that a button masher makes us any less of a true rpg fan?
It sounds like you dont like change very much because theres been a incredible amount of  recent games that are rpg to the core with a lot of button mashing that have come out
such as Dc Universe.
Plus how can you honestly feel like its an ropg when the game does all the work for you
I mean there no real initiative involved and I feel that takes away a lot from the game.  I mean you should be responsible for your attack not just press a button and let the game act on auto pilot.
Button Mashing FTW!

...sigh.
When someone says RPG I think of Baldur's Gate, Fallout 2, Planescape Torment, Morrovind,Oblivion,DA:O...
I guess that "smart" and immersive games are no longer "in".

ME1 Complaints: This Inventory sucks! Why do I need 47 Medical Exoskelton X's? What the hell - Elevator rides? Bioware, whats up with the Mako and empty planets?

ME2 Complaints: Where's my inventory? The end mission screen is terrible - I preferred the elevator rides!!! Where's the exploration?!!!

DA:O Complaints: Combat is boring! Combat is unresponsive! I feel like I'm wallking in mud!!!!

DA2 (Demo)Complaints: It's God of War! NO TATICZ! Combat is too fast!!!

win

Mid-ways exist.
Complaining about slow combat doesn't mean turning the sequel in a Mortal Kombat fighting game!

I'm sorry that I want a good game for the sake of being a good game, not because a publisher wants a few more moolahs.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you on wanting a good game. You're just being confrontive because it's not the game you personally want.

Well, if one is disappointed on what the demo proposed, what should it say?

Be critical of the game in an objective manner without casting aspersions on anyone. Stating that the changes are made because of money is just an assumption without any real evidence and just an attempt to play the blame game.

I Loved DA:O, a proper PC RPG, I am afraid from playing the Demo that I will not be buying DA:II.

It has become a Console hacker, I did not see one piece of RP in the whole Demo, just hack & slash.

I hope this doesn't preview the future of ME3.

I think hardcore RPG gamers after Dragon age 2 demo look like this:
memegenerator.net/bio/imagemacro/5943773/dragon-age-2-demo-released

And the console gamers like this:
memegenerator.net/bio/imagemacro/5944087/isabela-boobs-are-EPIC

Still can't understand how any DA:O fan could possibly like this demo.

As for me I'll wait for Witcher 2 then.

Agreed. Just cause an inventory system is shoddily implimented does not mean completely remove it!

Just cause combat is a tad slow does not mean making it extremely fast with exaggerated flashy gimmick animations then claim to remove the "shuffle" when in reality its even MORE noticable now since your character no longer shuffles to position, but repeatedly spins over and over again into position.

Bioware seems to forget all of this though.

I'm not sure I am playing the demo correctly. It seems you guys can do much more than me. For example I couldn't switch between ranged and melee weapons (I'm not much of a gamer, but I enjoy these games. Please don't flame my ignorance). Also, at the end, it didn't say anything like "Thanks for playing, you will receive a special reward..." How do I know if I get the reward? Really the only reason I played the demo. Thanks for the help.

You can't switch between melee and ranged weapon; inventory is locked away in the demo.  You'll need to play the demo logged in to your EA/Bioware account. Be careful, though, as reports have been made of people losing their connection with the Dragon Age (EA) serveres when make the transition from Lothering to another place...

@Silahsor: Seems about right. When Mass Effect 2 arrived, I knew it was the end of an era with Bioware, for better or for worse. And while I actually ended up finding that game to be one of my favorites of all time, I can't really call it my favorite "RPG" since it's neither an RPG or a shooter, but a shooter with RPG elements, or an RPG with a heavy emphasis on shooting.

Bioware used to be one of the very few companies you could rely on to release a quality (if not cliche) RPG and in the end were essentially the "last bastion" for CPRPG players. Obviously that's not the case any longer, and we'll have to rely on developers like CD Projekt to keep making the "modern, traditional" RPGs for us.  I'm not even suggesting Bioware games aren't fun, because so far pretty much all of them have been in their own way, and I'm sure I'll find specific things about DA2 to be very enjoyable, but I don't believe they are a company worried about making good RPGs anymore as much as they are trying to please everyone at the same time with mass appeal products.

It wouldn't surprise me if the majoriy of Biowares current "audience" they are aiming to please would probobly say Planescape: Torment sucks for some utterly inane reason.

Combat doesn't seem much different from DA:O except that animations are faster.

Boo f*cking hoo, let's claim it's console friendly for no rational reason.

I'm guessing that quite a few people that like those games I mention, do not like, even find anything interesting in, games like Devil May Cry...comparing it to origins for me is like comparing teletubbies to house m.d. or battlestar galactica ... I do not like the forced mix they came up with...

LOL.  Looks more like a cross between DA2 and Deception.

I agree, but it being faster is the only good thing about it since the combat was simply awful in the previous game.  The combat is the least thing to worry about with DA2.

Oh yeah, plot.

We know jacksh*t about plot so complain about it is stupid.

Characters?
We barely had any conversation with them. Next.

Graphics?
Who cares?
