just here for my free weapons !!! what do i do?

if you've completed the demo already, just check your registered game promos under your profile.  You wont get the "code" to DL it until the game releases though.

I downloaded the PS3 demo some days ago, had 2 playthroughs as mage and warrior.
So far my impressions are positive. I must admit I'm quite puzzled at people criticizing the amount of combat, cutscenes, linearity, lack of story depth... it's just a demo that lasts less than an hour! In my opinion this is rather a taster of the new visuals and gameplay mechanics.

- Likes:
How DA II storyline feels connected to that of Origins
Much smoother framerate
Targetting is way better and easier
Graphics have improved
Combat pace

- Dislikes:
Some short loading times that interrupt the flow between cutscenes and gameplay
While Isabela's chara-design is appealing to me, her appearance (and voice) is inconsistent with DA Origins (where I believe she was voiced by the same actress that made Anora's voice).

I'm happy with the new skill system. I'm also a bit curious as to how often the characters will level up in the final game (in the demo, it was oddly frequent).

I'm fine with the dialog wheel, though it certainly takes to be more familiar with the differences between "the written idea" and "the spoken sentence". With the main character being voiced, I don't think that writing the exact dialog lines would have "worked", since many would be tempted to just skip the speech (and somehow come back to Origins dialog system).

Overall I'm really looking forward to playing the full game.

For an Xbox 360 user, where do I look for the free weapon? I checked on the hard-drive but couldn't find it under the 'games' section of my profile

i just played the demo and it really hyped me up. just a few things that bugged me was the inability to pause a movie sequence where i need to leave for a few minutes, using the radial menu and pressing X on a far away enemy didn't have me walk automatically, and having to always tap X to attack. The story is great and the graphics are too. I just wished the original dragon age battle mechanics were the same.

can't wait to get my signature edition for my PS3.
as i am a console player and not a real PC gamer i really had a hard time playing the demo on the PC because i wanted to see the differences between them.
and coulden't find much, so good job there.

now the hard part is comming for me counting off the day's until D2-day

I am so thankful that Bioware released the demo. It has whet the appetite of this rpg afficionado like none has before..

truthfully.. I *love* RPG's.. sadly, I am a purist.. I do not define an rpg as how many classes you can have, or how many combinations of talents and skills you may theorycraft (like some of you all seem to do).

I do not like these so-called "open world" rpg's.. Those are not rpg's! if you want to play a mmo.. GO PLAY A MMO.. it's clear and distinct and open-world is an excuse to be lazy

Dragon Age 2 upon first playthru has rekindled my love for real and true role-playing games like no game has before it (this includes FF)

in its bare essence.. a TRUE role-playing game is about first and foremost:
the characters and the story which pull you into their world and you lose yourself in it..

that's what a roleplaying game is all about..

the last time I can think of a worthy "RPG" for the PS3 was "Valkryie Chronicles" and before that, Folklore but yeah..

I can't wait for DA2 :) hell I might just give DA a shot as well now for the ps3.. hah Posted Image

Why the hell is the writing so small? It was a strain to read it in mass effect and now it seems even smaller. I have to strain my eyes or sit close the the TV in order to read it, and i can't even make out some of the choices if there's a background with a similar colour.

What happened??? We are so close to reaching 1 million demo downloads. I spammed all my friends to download the game and try it out. At the pace that were going I doubt we'll make it. I've been through the demo 4 times on my console and 2 times on the PC (which I must say looks much smoother besides the shading which is better on the console). I was really looking forward to receiving those 2 books Mar. 8th. Oh well I sill cannot wait for this game to arrive at my door. My only concern is whether or not the demo was the fully polished game? I doubt it but would like some confirmation.

We reached a million downloads last thursday.  In fact we reached it twice.

What happened is that EA subtracted a good 600,000 from the counter claiming they were "spam downloads", and that they didn't count because  there was no EA account linked to them  (ie. people downloaded the demo but didn't log on to their EA accounts and so these downloads  don't 'count')

This may be true, or it may be horsesh** to keep the promotion and the hype going thru tuesday.   Who knows.   At this point though, I really don't care which it is.  I'm really sick and tired of all this  "marketing.  I'm ready  to play the full game now.

Again, how many of these downloads were incomplete downloads?  I tried three times to download the demo from Bioware/EA resulting in about 3GB of wasted bandwidth before I had to get it via bittorrent from one of the mirrors.  I have a wonderfully fast and reliable connection, so I highly doubt this is uncommon.

The XBox 360 demo was very good.  I loved the change in
art style, especially the character models.  The combat system seems pretty
solid, except for switching weapon sets… that seems to be locked out of the
demo.    Also, I
would have liked to see more of the inventory management system.

The demo convinced me to go ahead and do the pre-order.  I’m really looking forward to this one.

Well for you, only recommendation would be go play shooters. Really, look at Modern Warfare or Crysis. You do not have to think, you can not get lost in an open world, you have a story and a character. Exactly what you want from a game.

I love the condescending approach of so many of the posters here that if you like this you MUST have incredibly low standards and are just a brainless moron who loves everything handed to them. Hard to believe, I know!, but just because someone doesn't hold the same opinion as yourself doesn't necessarily mean they are idiots.

:) funny you say that

you're talking to someone who has never played a single FPS in his entire life
(nevermind the fact that FPS gets me motion sick, it's just not my cuppa)

hell tbh, PC's were made for FPS which is why I hate so-called PC rpg's

you play on the pc you might as well play a stupid shooter game

imnho of course

...shooters, and mmo's

@Embrosil: :) nice way of discrediting anything you say/think or will ever post huh, you think you have someoned pegged but you're so far from reality it's embarassing :)

you talking to a TRUE rpg afficionado son

Don't you know? This is the internet. If you don't share the hive-brain viewpoint you are automatically inferior.

I had no idea about this weapon until a couple of posts before your post. It's in the same place as the person said for those with the 360, on the side bar to the left go to your profile and select "Your Registered Games Promotions" and it will be there.

I just looked to see if it was there for myself and it's there.

The demo gave a taste of what appears to be an enjoyable game. There were however some bugs of note on my PC play-through.

-The character would not drink a health potion while performing its basic attack. I had to walk the character away from the fight in order to get it to drink up. This happened during the second ogre battle.

- In Kirkwall, after switching from the main protagonist then switching back it became impossible to select any of the enemies to attack. The character just stood there. This was cured by switching characters again and letting the AI take over.  This problem persisted until all enemies of the current mob was killed. I regained the ability to select targets with the next mob.

I liked the demo, here's my pro's and cons.

PROS
Combat - The combat is way better than Origins(at least on PS3) espescially in the second Ogre fight.
classes - The Rogue is a way better class to play as, the same with the Warrior  and the Mage.
Graphics - By far, it's easier on the eye than DA:O

CONS
Dialogue Wheel - It works for the most part, but there was one instance where it didn't say what I thought it said. Also Hawke can be sarcastic at the most inappropriate times(but that's just a small annoyance for me).
Difficulty - I found normal mode a little on the easy side(surprising considering I had to scale down to casual in a few boss fights in DA:O)

Anyway, March 8th can't come quick enough!

Hmmm, for some reason it is not showing up for me... Looks like I had best complete the demo again.

This has probably been said countless times before but:
1. AI doesn't attack, I literary have to micromanage the characters as they're just standing there about ten to fifteen meters away or in the sister's case, shooting at a rock.
2. Pretty much the same thing as no 1, I guess, but no auto-attack. I have to change between the characters after they've killed the enemy.

I too, was happy for the demo. I had said after Awakenings and the disappointing (IMHO) add ons to DAO I would rent, not buy, DA2. But a couple of trailers in, I preordered. I played the demo on PC and PS3 and have cancelled my preorder. I could generate no interest nor excitement in the fighting or the characters, not even my own. Didn't care for "look" of the game, from the terrain to the NPCs features and facial movement. The waves of newly skinned Hurlock simply seemed like Awakenings with a slightly different background. Thank goodness this is not a dry year for RPGs! The Witcher 2 and Mass Effect 3 FTW!

I liked the demo alot. It was cool that instead of getting 45 mins of dialogue they gave a nice chunk of combat to really see the differences in action from DA:O to DA2. I have faith the story will be great given BioWare's history so I didn't need all that much story for the demo. I also enjoyed the Hurlock and Ogre redesign. They don't look any thing like orcs (like in DA:O), putties, Skeletor or zombies to me. Alot of posters think the new Hurlocks are silly looking and not scary?..If I were to run into something that looked like that, I would be pretty scared!

Played the PC demo as F.Hawke mage twice, and rogue once and generally enjoyed it but had a couple issues

The combat was great, basically the style of gameplay was the same as origins but made much smoother and more dynamic.

I initially assumed that not being able to initiate full blown conversations with your party members in the field was just a demo limit like the inventory and skill tree locks. However reading some of the earlier replies it seems it will be present in the full game as well? If that's so it's a big disappointment to me.

Another part on the story that may also be a demo issue or something in the full game, the early death of your sibling didn't really have any emotional impact on me, probably in part because I couldn't even really communicate with them, or learn anything about them before they died, maybe there will be more on that in the full version but it didn't really have any impact as it was in the demo.

On a related note I was pretty annoyed at the fact that apparently if you choose to be a mage, Bethany dies, period. Earlier information about the story posted on the forums and stuff told me about Hawke's apostate sister and it seemed she would have had at the least a significant sub story in the game, and how if Hawke was a mage, he/she would also be an apostate. One of the things I was most looking forward to was playing through that sort of storyline with both my sister and me being apostates, with the whole constantly hunted by templars deal etc. Any possibility of that storyline gets squashed within what seems like 15 minutes of starting the game however and then I get stuck with a frankly, rather generic seeming 2h sword warrior type, whom I had never even heard of until starting the demo. I honestly don't see why it switches who dies just because of your class either except it may possibly be easier/harder to play early on.
This is seriously the biggest problem I had with the game, unfortunately it also seems the least likely to differ in the full game.

I say the effort to give gamers a idea of how DA2 will be was nice. Obviously they can't please everyone, if that were possible the world would be perfect. Reality check people...We (as in humankind) are far from perfect. And that is why we like things we can control. Call me whatever as it's your opinion, but I did like the demo for what it is. A GAME.

np. lol. Like I said I had no idea any thing unlocked just completing the demo so you were ahead of me there. lol.

I just did a refresh of that page and a bunch of other items appeared too that had to do with that 1 million download thing.
