LOL, time to order some Proactiv I think.

So far, my single largest complaint has to be the lack of health bars above enemies heads without hovering over them.  I didn't see anything in the options either to allow them to work just like they did in DA:O.  Hopefully there's an option for this in the main game, otherwise it's just going to make the game very annoying to play with any sense of intelligence.

Who knows, but no one should be forming any kind of opinion based off of what others have said.  No one should be influenced by anything anyone has said either, whether it's contradictory or in harmony with their own thoughts.

I don't know if this would go under the technical issues or not forum, but whenever the Darkspawn archers would shoot their arrows, the arrows/bolts would always do this weird "spider-web" effect thing, which is hard to describe in any other terms.

yea i noticed that too. On my Xbox demo, when the arrow is sticking out of your body there is a thin white line portruding from the end of it. It is only noticable if you look closely, but it is still annoying. It doesn't bother me anymore after playing the demo 4 ot 5 times, but it would be nice to be fixed

I am very aware that this is a demo, and the gameplay is different. I'm goign to wait until the final release to really decide if I like that aspect of it or not but, Bioware, PLEASE, if you get one thing right, make it character creation!

I know it's disabled in the demo, but the characters still look like DA1 characters. The first rule of character customisation should be: Make it easy to create good-looking characters. Not necessarily studs and pornstars, but real, human-looking people, rather than bad dolls.

Don't do like you did in DA1 and include 2 useable eye presets and 3 others that would only look right on quasimodo. Observe real peoples' faces and include 20 presets that look real and good, and can ideally be tweaked. Same with hair, mouths etc.

Don't restrict the sliders so much that people always have a particular slider all the way to the right/left. Get people to play with CC, and if they always slide something to an extreme, expand the tolerances.

Make CC quick and easy for those who don't care about it - so have a bunch of cool-looking presets. Hawke is about right for one of them - but add in a 'Fine tune' button for those who do, with a bunch more sliders and options.

Avoid 'family resemblance' that so many games seem to have, There's a reason 'Dragon Age redesigned' was one of the most popular downloads for DA - DA characters look like DA characters. Mass effect femsheps look a bit like action man dolls. Sims look like Sims. If you can not immediately tell which game you are looking at by the facial quirks of the characters, you've done a good job.

Finally, try to make armour more customisable, either by having changeable parts and tints like in ME2 or by making it easy to create your own meshes like for Oblivion. Once people can make a character that looks like they want them to look, I guarantee they will engage more with the game.

I just finished the demo. No crashes running highest graphics levels (looked amazing!), only problem was the DX9 thing which (thanks to the support thread) was easy to get past. Thoughts:

(1) I liked the artwork -- definitely a step up.
(2) The conversation wheel was intuitive -- no problems there -- and it's nice to hear my own character's voice for a change.
(3) I did not care for the combat changes -- too frenetic and arcade-like. I like a more tactical approach in general, and having my character magically zoom up to the next enemy I targetted takes me out of the game. (DA:O had some semblence of realism at least.) In general, I didn't feel like I was in control when fighting -- I felt like I was just continuously beating on my opponents in some attention-deficit fantasyland.
(4) UI changes gave everything a fresh feel, and I picked them up pretty quickly. The quick heal/stamina is good, provided that I can control what it does per person (which I couldn't tell).

Bottom line: I'm optimistic about the game, as there is definitely some good stuff in there, but fer-cryin-out-loud, slow the combat down! I really liked the more thoughtful approach to combat in DA:O (and in DA:A, for which I finished my third runthrough yesterday), and the difference is jarring and not welcome.

Whoa. 300 + pages of comments! Well, I suppose my 2 cents won't matter one way or another. Played the demo -- yes, we are talking about the demo, not what is a "true" rpg, lol. Dunno that the game/demo is such a "huge" improvement over DAO. Yes, the combat is speeded up (frantic, as some say) and "flashy." The demo ran very smooth, I thought, especially in combat scenes.

Which brings me to point out that the demo (and therefore, probably the full game itself) seemed to have been crafted especially for action players. For me, though, the flashiness is only part of the improvements. It will take playing the full game to see how the story goes, the relationships between the Hawke character and the party members. What I especially loved about DAO were the bickering and bantering between party members during travel, and which were generally hilarious. They had personalities, and you could chose to develop approval or disapproval with each of them. I hope, however, that if there are personal quests, that they are not overly complicated or detract too much from the main quest.

I wonder that the demo did not begin at the beginning even, but at a point where only some of the story is told (Varric's interrogation). Possibly (just speculating) the beginning may show the Hawke estate being overrun by darkspawn (just as in DAO for the human noble family).

Oh, dear. Am I rambling...?

Great game, good job. As no Rpg is perfect and i recognize this is a demo my only request is that Bioware could supply some sort of guide in which we can see on Xbox or PS3 how stats and abilities relate to damage and such. I love to fiddle with number's, spent literally hours making the best possible of all rogues, ran through hundreds of stats and got a rogue to reach 800 dps. But i digress. If there was just someway to see the actual stats...

Well, the lack of changing weapons on the fly is a real kick in the nuts.
Going to be a major PITA having to go into my inventory each time I want to change from daggers to a bow :(

Really Bioware......really??

I thought this would be unplayable based on the previews, but I just finished the demo and I think it might be good. The action is a little jarring compared to DAO, but I'll have to see how it shakes out. Dialog wheel is fine, no problems there. Pet peeve of mine though, I fracking HATE those trampy women that get put in games. Isabella looks like a prostitute or something. FYI, Bioware, there is well-endowed, and there is "you're going to put someone's eye out with those things!" There is something disconcerting about ginormous, blood-covered boobs right after a battle. Yuck. If I buy it, I guarantee she won't be in my party often.

Ok i just have to say something .

i like way of game play . Rogue is fun as hell . Mage as well { i never enjoyed playing mage as here }.

Menus , Char screen , Skill screen . Are ok .

Now graphics :
Guys from Bioware why did you done this to us. Is it a Joke ? In first part every item , sword , shield armors , was masterpices of graphics . But what did you done here ? i am asking you . Why did you moved game 7 years back. When i was playing it i got impression i am playing really really old game . Darkspawn for example. Iin DA Origins they were what they supposed to be . Filthy ugly creatures . And now ? omg half of templars from DAO were less clean that they are .

I hope you released the worst parts of the game .

My only complaint is the camera. I liked having the irrational "bird's eye" view. I can't stand being that close to my character )x Everyonce in a while I do zoom in, but not often.

Other than that I doubt my opinion matters for these simple reasons,
1. I could care less about how life like the gore is
2. Graphics are nice, but they aren't that important to me (I always play with the lowest quality settings)
3. Tactics..... yeah they aren't my thing.

HONESTLY
I own Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, NWN, NWN 2, ME, ME2, and DA:O. The only reason I bought these games.... was strictly for the romance. There I said it. (i know there isn't a npc romance in the first Baldur's Gate, but I grew up on that game).

Literally, I was on youtube one day looking at games with romance options in them and a video of Alistair's romance came up. The next day I went out and bought DA:O. And I don't regret spending the money on any of these games.

Bottom line:
Yeah, the camera angle sucks, but it's something I learn to get over.
That's my feedback~<3

My main complaint at this point is simply the jumping around. Too many cartwheels and such, too many leaping attacks.

I concur, this gets silly after a while.

Also,
you really dont have to use the other party members i.e. you can
completely ignore controlling them. I think this is a negative. Perhaps
on Difficult you may need to use other party members. Furthermore, the
magic attacks were rather pedestrian. In DAO combat seems to have more
of an element of suspense to it I didnt get that here. My opinion of the
demo is; game play...meh, but  interesting storyline.

Oh, not to be snarky but the Darkspawn physical movements and demeanor remind me of the hordes of villians in a Power Rangers episode. Also, the Darkspawn dont seem to be as frightening as they were in DAO.

I used all the characters like I did in Origins, in the IGN video interview they did one the the producers said Nightmare required great party tactics planned in advance.

I just tried again as a rogue after seeing how enthusiastically people were talking about them. I like the feel of the new magic system, though I thought all that knobbing about with the staff looked stupid.

But now I've tried rogue I am questioning whether I will buy this game at all. Seriously, it is the worst kind of hollywood bs the way he fights. anyone actually attempting that would be suffering extreme exhaustion within 2 minutes. Why can't you just get in a bunch of professional battle re-enactors and MoCap them? If you ever saw someone really skilled with medieval weaponry you'd realise you don't need some kind of hollywood ninja who can do a triple backflip 30 ft up in the air. The fast, brutal practicality of skilled sword fighters is something to behold. It's like comparing the fighting in final fantasy and the bourne films. They are both violent and 'impressive', but one of them is believable whilst the other is laughable.

Those swords? Really, there's a reason nothing similar exists in real life. And that bow! Seriously, have any of you ever shot a bow? That thing is a harpoon cannon like whalers use.

DAO had some serious suspension of disbelief required (inch thick steel plates, anyone?), but this is just going too far. I got about 3 minutes into the rogue playthrough and decided I just wasn't enjoying it, so I quit.

Just finished the PS3 demo, and going to d/l the PC one as well just to see technical differences. Overall, pretty solid demo. Only thing I'll add is that I was surprised by the framerates. Did you guys finally nail down the 60fps for the ps3? I hardly noticed much stuttering if any at all. If that holds true for the actual game, kudos to you guys.

I really enjoyed the demo. It felt like a breath of fresh air in a staid, 'soft-focus' romantic, medieval genre. (And I should declare here that I'm so much more a fan of the Mass Effect franchise, though I loved Alistair, many times, with all the pixels in my heart.)

Dragon Age 2 looks sharp, gritty and refreshingly odd. I don't want a rehash of any game that came before Dragon Age. Time marches on and so do people's tastes. I want a game with a unique atmosphere, a sense of humour, an intriguing world lore, and a group of interesting characters my imagination likes to think of as friends and enemies. And this game, if the demo is anything to go by, promises this.

The combat is brilliant, whichever way you take it. I like my combat like I like my men - fast and desperate, and a little confused. (Can I say that here?). Also - I'm a bit of a desk chair tourist and tend to pause a lot for screen captures, and I am MOST pleased with the graphics. MOST pleased. Ohhhh, the blood. The voice actors, for the most part, are impressive - especially femHawke, Flemmeth and Cassandra. (Though some accents seem a little confused. I'm looking at you, Carver...). And from what I've seen so far, the dialogue wheel is much more friendly than it was in the ME series, what with the obvious tone symbols and all. I like it very much.

Some interesting things I noted:

-Varric has an adam's apple (at least in the beginning cut scene.)
-Female Hawke runs like she's speed skating while trying to discreetly relieve a 'feminine itch' by grinding her thighs together. But it's better than running like a man.
-Among the items I looted was a vial of darkspawn blood, a mabari collar, and a rotted, wooden peg leg.
-On what I assume will turn out to be some kind of Chanter's Board in Kirkwall is a 'wanted' sign for a round of cheese.
-The teeth are great, but the fingernails need a really good scrub.

TL;DR: Can't wait.

Just played through the demo for the first time. Well, I didn't expect much, but neither did I expect it to be so blunt. Combat is shallow in comparison to DA:O. Storytelling seems to be below the level of its predecessor, but hard to tell from a demo.
The design of the graphics, not my style - namely this eastern style in a western RPG disturbs the picture - but it is well executed. (Except maybe for the ears of the characters, haha. Whoever modeled those needs to go over that again before the release.)
Still, seems like a fun beat-em-up game, if you can stand to look at these ninja-esque animations. "I am dissapoint".
Will be playing RPGs instead, like DA:O and soon TES V: Skyrim. Until a good new party RPG shows up.

Enjoyed the demo(s) (played all 3 systems). Felt new, different enough to feel fresh, and above all else - unapologetic for what it is. Some people may see that as a negative, but I like that in games.

The graphics are clean, smart, sharp and gritty with a nice style. I find nothing worse than generic games that look like every other high fantasy on the market. Each character looks unique and different. I like the small details like Carver being near rival status and Bethany being close to friend. It's small touches like this that make me love games. That, and small 'easter eggs' like the wanted board.

Love the humour, especially the joke responses from Flemeth. She really gets a kick out of the player declaring they wish to be a dragon and it's a nice series of dialogue. Also love the mothers response if you don't care Carver or Bethany have died.

I like the combat, I want fantasy in my fantasy games so 'ninja' rogues are fine by me. I prefer the archer to melee simply for pinning shot head explosions. May sound a little sick but gore is fine by me! Warrior feels a little slow, but that's probably just the low level versions. My favourite class from the demo had to be ranger rogue, but i'll play a warrior first as I always do in RPG's.

Voice acting is good, Flemeth is of course the best but I found male Hawke's sarcasm levels perfect and the female Hawke responses were nicely delivered. I can see me playing both Hawke's come release and enjoying both equally. Carver seemed a bit odd, but i'm pretty sure with his rivalry status that was intentional.

Although i'll get this on PC as always, consoles were a vast improvement! Lovely frame rate.

Some quick positives and negatives:

- Female Hawke had a seriously odd running animation. I liked her walk but i'm not sure anyone could sway quite that much and keep a decent pace.
- Healing is fiddly on consoles, half the time it doesn't respond i've used a potion.
- Would of liked to see Varric's exaggerations of Isabella and Flemeth they would of been amusing.

+Love the new Darkspawn, perfect weapon fodder. Always found the grunts too 'tough' in the first game. Not for difficulty but for grunts and 'trash' they felt a bit too skilled.
+Ogre fights are much more fun, get a real sense of 'strong but dumb'.
+Love the atmosphere. Birds in the sky, smoke bellowing in the distance, scarred ground from the Darkspawn.

Something like Bulletstorm can pull that off, but the oversexed, juvenile approach in DAII needs to be apologized for IMO. Just because they don't care that Isabela and Bethany look ridiculous doesn't make it good.

Personally, I thought the DA2 demo was awesome. Played it several times to see each class and speech options and played the console version too for comparison.

I like the controls in both versions for different reasons. PC version *just* won over, as it was basically the same as DAO. Console version felt great too, shame there's no option to use 360 pad on PC tho, as this would at least allow players a choice of gameplay, imo.

Am SOOOOOO much more loving the new auto-attacks, two-handed is finally fun with AoE sweeping animations (you know as it would be), and FINALLY rangers arrows make mobs flinch. Mage is much better too, Can see me actually playing the full story as one now.

Am glad to see that the core gameplay hasn't changed drastically, especially on the console version, with visceral controls being the only thing to replace auto attacks, glad everything else is identical.

LOVE the new art style, the Medieval European inspired art, was exactly what the franchise needed, something to make it stand out from the generic fantasy crowd somewhat. If anything, wish they'd changed the character models to be a bit more stylised, but is understandable why it wasn't.
I think the humour is brilliant too, VERY subtle, but brilliant. Like how Varric's "legend" version over exaggerates everything, from breast size, number of Darkspawn, Flemmeth (dragon) voice depth and growl, down to very subtle things like Bethany's personality and make up (pervy little dwarf -_^).

Overall I thought it was brilliant and VERY enjoyable. It's ticked my major notes for what makes an RPG. Character customisation and the ability to mold them to who you want them to be. A story that reacts to your choices and conversations (whilst the demo didn't show this to the full extent, you know this is a Bioware game and this is one of their traits, so is a cert it'll be in). A choice of male/female and different classes and for those classes to be customisable within themselves.

DA characters have always looked ridiculous...

but in regards to being overly sexualised, i disagree. As its only a couple of characters it's not a big deal, I mean they're are incredibly attractive people with large breasts in RL so it'd be less realistic having everyone look "PC"
