Enjoyed the demo(s) (played all 3 systems). Felt new, different enough to feel fresh, and above all else - unapologetic for what it is. Some people may see that as a negative, but I like that in games.
Something like Bulletstorm can pull that off, but the oversexed, juvenile approach in DAII needs to be apologized for IMO. Just because they don't care that Isabela and Bethany look ridiculous doesn't make it good.
Seriously? I would consider something like Bayonetta to be juvenile. That's probably one of the only times that I couldn't enjoy a video game because it's so overly-sexualized in a horrible way. The mechanics of the game were great though.
Isabella and Bethany on the other hand look pretty normal to me. Sure they have rather big busts but in all honest they don't exactly look incredibly beautiful for me to stare at their breasts all day. It's actually pretty hard to admire the women in this game, most western RPGs have a tough time making attractive people.
And in all honesty, there are plenty of ugly men and women for you to play as in video games, nothing wrong to have sexy attractive ones that are also well-endowed to be in DA2. This is a vast improvement from DA:O, seing as how Leliana doens't even look like her CG counterpart AT ALL.

I'm a woman and I have to assume you're talking about Varric's story and/or how Bethany and Issabele are dressed?
Bethany is just wearing a dress with a chainmail shirt.... ooooooohhhh, quick cover your eyes, lest they burn from their sockets!
Issabela, a swashbuckler... you know a pirate. Pretty much dressed how all women pirates are seen, with abit more medderterian stylings tho. Looks great imo.
If however you're referrng to their physiques too then, persoanlly I don't get all this hate towards women with large breasts. Most seem to overlook that the "legend" version is Varric's over exaggerated story, and being a dwarf, who in DA are well known to only really care for booze, sex and caste. So his over exaggerated story just adds to his character.
That aside tho, I know several women in real life that have large breasts, several in my family too, and all are real. So why is it considered oversexed and juvenile to show women with different physiques?
From a personal point, I would consider myself fairly flatchested, and I have nothing against characters with larger breast sizes in games. Surely it's more immature and juvenile to complain that many people are represented as opposed to just one section of society?
Do large breasts make me think little of someone in real life or a game? No.
Do I feel insecure or embarrased by breasts? No.
Do I think all women in games should be represented as flatchested and look like young boys? HELL NO!

Odd that you find DA2 'oversexed and juvenile' on a 20 min. demo - one that contained no sex, a couple of humourously generous cleavages and one suggestive comment. Perhaps you might play the demo through again with a view to being less distracted from the 'oversexed' content enough to form an opinion on the potential (or otherwise) of dialogue, story-telling, or combat visuals or strategy.

Loved the conversation system, always a mystery what they are gonna say but it provides a ''suprise'' element that
kept me entertained.
The introduction to the story that will be told was epic.
All in all, I can't wait for the full game.

I think you're misunderstanding (to a great extent) what people mean. No one is discriminating against boobs here, or those who have them. Large breasts are fine (as are small ones). Immersion becomes derailed for many people, however, when every single woman they come across is sporting double Ds and strutting around like a stripper (I'm talking about the gait here, not the clothing). The elderly women on the game are built like centerfolds, and Isabella has volleyballs strapped onto her chest. Is there some plastic surgeon from the future in Ferelden that I don't know about? DA:O was a perfect balance -- big, but not ridiculously so, and proportioned well enough that they didn't seem altogether unnatural.
Bottom line, it feels like the change to female models is pretty much "Look! Boobs! Buy this game!"

Not sure I see the juvenile or oversexed parts of Dragon Age II you are refering to, but perhaps that's just a difference in our personal views.
In my opinion, I find the hatred for large breasts slightly odd as there are many women in the world with a naturally large chest (the females in my family tree for example) and I do not see how depicting their build in a game is 'juvenille' or 'overly sexed'.
If your post was refering to the dress of these characters however, I simply see it from my own personally roleplaying perspective that Isabella for example is a Swashbuckler style pirate and flirty/OTT/seductive/distracting is part of their style/fighting tactics. I find her a highly fun character, and i'm pretty sure outside of a 10minute demo she has way more depth than a cleavage or naked thighs.
Perhaps our views are much different; but it does highly suprise me how the world is fine with violence and gore in most games - yet any sign of sexuality, skin or 'body parts' is seen as juvenille.
However saying that, I find the male conquest of women in games (such as Witcher's sex cards) highly juvenille. Speaking from a male perspective, character wise I like a strong, dominant woman in plate with a huge sword kicking butt - i.e. Female Hawke.

1. Being able to loot the entire contents of a container or corpse with the press of a key/button ("R" being default, in this case).
2. The reduction of the clutter that came from having dozens of spells. I liked all of the spells in Dragon Age: Origins, but you could only have so many that would fit on the toolbar.
3. Better graphics.
Cons:
1. Despite the better graphics, we have cartoony, Skeletor-looking Darkspawn.
2. Flashy, lightning-quick combat moves. Was this for the purpose of the animations taking less time, or for appearance?
3. Teleportation backstabs. Call it whatever you like; I call it ridiculous, and detracting from my gameplay enjoyment.
4. Elimination of the dual-wielding combat specials. Flurry, Riposte, Punisher, etc. They made the combat more enjoyable. I guess there's no point in numerous different combat animations when everything is just a blurr, anyway.
5. Character jumping 10 to 20 feet to engage an enemy.
7. No isometric camera.

Nah, I did get what people are on about. I don't find any of that to be Immersion breaking personally as it's fairly normal for me to see in my daily life. I do find you plastic surgeon comment to be quite insulting given the ammount of women who're either my friends or in my family that have large breasts because of their genes. Large breasts do exsist, not all of them are implants. I must also add I don't particularly go around staring at other women's breasts all day. -_^
As for Bethany and Issabela, they've got larger breasts than Flemmeth and Aveline, who imo, are around average size, whereas female Hawke is fairly flatchested. So I just don't see how I've greeted by srtippers everywhere I look.

However.... It might just be me, but... has it always been right mouse button to move the camera? It's been a while since I played Origins, so I can't recall, but it felt really, really clunky given this game's more action based approach. I got more used to it as I went on, but it was a little bit of an immersion breaker for me (far more than the new art style apparently is for some people)
Also, it's mildly annoying that which sibling survives depends on which class you are. I mostly say this as a Mage player who'd be interested in keeping Bethany around (the dynamic between two Apostates is something DA hasn't done before, and would be nice to explore)

I'd like to weigh in as well on this subject:
Where do the people compaining about the women with nice sized chest come from? I live in Phoenix. That's all I see and 85% are real. It's rare to see a C cup or lower even on teens around here... What is the issue with hating women who have big breast in this forum?! Are most of you guys and girls in backwater places that never eat right and are malnurished so you hate their bodies or what?! Get over yourselves please and try to enjoy life! It's called entertainment! If you cant relate to big breast, someone you know or around you can in your city. Travel outside every once in a while and you might see something called real people. I can understand not liking the visual style of modeling for DAO or DA2. Both are not up to snuff and dont even compare to ME2 much less any other company's games out there, but compaining due to you hating on their 3 measurements?! Really?! Maybe you might want to try gaming hardcore and see what's out there? This has to be your first or 2nd game EVER. There are far worst offenders out there and skin has never bothered me so I dont get the complaint in the first place? Maybe this is why Bioware as become so reserved after ME1? People in the US suck and cant handle nudity or "blessed stats"... This is why the rest of the world laughs at us and has better television. Ever watch Spanish TV? Euro-TV? JPN-TV? All have nudity and know it's a natural part of life and embrace whatever their 3 stats are... Silly unrealistically-uptight Americans!
I want to take a poll on all the people who are compaining over the breast to see if they where feed out of a can or breast fed? I have a theory about the whining, but can't prove it yet...

Isabella's breasts are huge, but they stand out in this game as particularly big. In DA:O every woman had the exact same body and breasts larger than their head, regardless of age. Put that Chasind robe on Wynn and she had the exact same body and breasts and Morrigan or a female Warden when wearing it. It was one of the funny things that the Edge review picked up on.

After playing the Demo for DA2, I have somewhat mixed feelings while some changes are good I can't help but feel so much has been lost, the game feels more like a port of a console game rather than the first rate RPG we've come to expect from Bioware.
I think there's a trend of developers trying to make games for consoles and trying to make them fit PC, which is pretty daft as the two audiences are very different.
It doesn't appear that you can cross class like you could in DA2 plus many other features which make the game feel and play like something totally different, and in doing so lost alot of the what made it good in the first place.
Also I see there's only options for DX9 or DX11 what about us DX10 Card users?
Overall it just seems too much aimed at the Console hack n slash joypad wagglers than us PC RPG'ers.
I hope I'm wrong and will wait till I see the full game but I think you guys might have fallen foul of the ole if its not broke don't fix it.

Anyway. My thoughts on the Demo, I had low expectations for DA2 because I had heard a lot of bad things about the game, but it turned out to be great fun and there are a lot of people saying the graphics are worse than Origins this is untrue as you should all know you cant play on DX11 or even High graphics settings and it looked just as good as DA:O to me so I expect DX11 & Very High detail will look awesome.
Also Anyone that has played the full demo, How long is it I want to know if I should start again or wait till tomorrow if I cant load from check point.
Thanks!
[EDIT]: Yeah just restarted Demo I have to do it all over.. How very annoying. It is good fun but doing something you just did is a pain in the ass.

FFFFFFFFF... I swear to god, every time I see someone saying this I want to choke a puppy... The only difference is that rather than clicking once and watching your guy go through some weak shuffling animation while feebly batting the other guy with his weapon (oo-er!) you now press the button once per attack. This is much more tactile and more representative since 1 press = 1 hit. I have to say, I find it much more casual and childish to simply click once with a mouse and then watch the animation, as if you've just clicked on "Play" in Windows Media Player to watch a film. However, if you really must have your auto-attack, you can change it to this control style in the PC version anyway.Hawk-Firestorm wrote...

Pressing the button 3 times for 3 attacks requires no skill, so it's not like you're being taken away from your comfort zone of stats-only combat; you're not being forced to learn something like Super Street Fighter 4 or Devil May Cry, which takes skill and practice to do a combo, you're just being given the option (on PC) of pressing a button to attack once rather than pressing a button to initiate an endless amount of attacks until the death of the target.
Yeah, I had to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming when I first laid eyes on her. I totally forgot she appeared in DA:O - I even learned the Duelist role off her and used it on my Warden, but she just didn't make the same impression in DA:O for some reason...Emzamination wrote...

Played on the PC version
What I liked:
-There is one central character that allows the game to focus more on a single person and allows the game writters to build a more in depth story for one character instead of trying to focus on 6 different begginings and trying to tie all their stories to the same path.
-I like the new dialog wheel, forgive me but i like simplicity. It gives me a clear sense of what my characters attitude will be when he says his line. Old system you could basically guess what the tone will be like but thats what it was, guessing, sometimes you hit something and it comes out completely different than what you intended. This new wheel gives you a clear cut idea on how your character will respond....and he/she actually SAYS things! crazy I know!
-I liked how the combat system feels more fluid and more reactive while still keeping the old tactic system that is used in DA:O. It feels completely different and at the same time the same as origins.
-I like how my character now has facial expressions and a voice that makes me feel like he/she actually cares about whats going on instead of having every response no matter what my character's feelings where to be delivered with a this expression
- I personally like how they are going into a whole new story instead of trying to build on our own characters, because no matter how much we want it...and we all want it...it is just too difficult to have a game that has a specific story for every type of player having 6 different begginings/different ending/3 defferent races/and having a different person voice and entire games worth of material for each race male/female, to build and voice a game like that would just be too complex to do. I agree with the new story that takes place during the same time, and even goes on to after the events in Awakening if im not mistaken. I give the props for not just putting out a carbon copy of the original game, Bioware seems good at adapting and evolving.
What I didn't like ( Reserving full judgment until full game is released.)
-It does seem like you are just rushed into a story at the beggining, there really isnt any character development between Hawke and his/her family, its like you just pop in and next thing you know you realize you have a brother and sister and your mom is there running with you in some unknown area, only thing you are told is you are somewhere outside Lothering. They don't really explain what happened to your father in game unless you go in and read the codex of yourself. But i realize it is just a demo and maybe(hopefully) it isnt the same beggining, and you start as a happy family with some family bonding time to get to know everyone, because when my brother/sister died, it really wasn't that sad for me, i felt worse for the templar, i chose to have his wife kill him and it was a much more emotional moment, my sibling just ran up to an ogre and got smashed...all i could think of was...you dumb*** why did you charge after it. But it could just be sibling rivalry setting in
-Graphics were a little choppy in some places, and movement didn't really look completly natural but that could be fixed in the full version. i understand this is just the basics to let us see how the new systems work.
-My only other complaint is that the next week is going to take forever to get here.
First impressions, I have a feeling I'm going to like this game alot more than the first one, and the first one is one of my alltime favorites, so beating that i no small feat, but only Bioware can out do a Bioware game. Great Job

Yeah, I'd agree with that but I hope that's just down to it being a demo, the same as how it did that pretty jarring montage-cut to the 2nd half of the demo. I will say that DA:O had a similar problem and that wasn't even an edited demo. Take the human noble origin story, for example; your entire experience with your father is summed up by him being "quite nice" in a brief conversation with Mr Obviously-Evil and your mother says about 3 sentences to you.picodeath123 wrote...

So when they're killed at the end of the origin story, it's about as moving and emotionally profound as when you kill the bacteria in your mouth by cleaning your teeth. WRPGs don't seem to be so good at this "hard emotion" as they do at more general, low-level emotion. It's fine when dealing with Alistair having a bit of a tiff with the Warden or Leliana recounting her tales of Orlesia, but gets pretty awkward and far from reality when dealing with romance or personal loss, such as in many of the origin stories.

Try not being so obtuse. The uproar is the fact that Bioware isn't even trying to hide the fact that they aren't going for realism, but sexism, specifically because big boobies sell to little Johnny and his horny dad or female relative. I'm glad in your area every woman apparently is a porn star, congrats. In most cities this is not reality.
Women having large breasts? Sure, no problem. Every woman having perfectly shaped, large breasts while having champion athlete physiques? Yeah right...<_<
Besides that, it's stated in the PC Gamer podcast that it's like that while Varric is telling the first version of the story, and then when told "No, tell me what really happened", suddenly everyone has a smaller chest. Hmm...
