Why can't player mage character have Bethany as survivor?
- I mean, I have no use for two hand warrior in my group. So I would like to have my sister as second mage.
Not sure, but there is something funny in healings in general. Like extreme slow or unable to drink potions in combat. Like it's one potion per battle per character?
Other ways demo seem to be fine so far.

Agree with the button mashing comment. I thought it was nice at the start, but my thumb got sore by the end of the demo from constantly bashing on my controller. At the very least I think they should release a patch to add the option to set it to auto-mash for you like on the PC.Moon M0nkey wrote...
They managed to turn Dragon age into a button masher, i just couldnt believe the fact that i had to Keep CONSTANTLY bashing the A button. Not to mention arrows Give off a huge glitchy type line across the screens looks like theres strings attached everywhere. other then that Shure it was a good demo but i PRAY they fix the button mashing and these weird arrow graphical glitches.
And i found the cutscenes just skipped themselveswhat happened bioware

This thread has literally become a source of laughs for me the past couple of mornings while enjoying my coffee lol. I've said my piece on the topic, so now all Im doing at this point is sitting back, sipping my coffee and laughing at everyone using terms like "Consistancy" "Realism" and my personal favorite, how folks think there is only ONE type of rogue. When in fact, Rogues are many things to many people. To some, they are the one who uses information and subterfuge to get what they want (ala a spy or agent) while to others, it is, in fact, the "Ninja-esque" and/or tumbler style combatant shown to us in DA2. They seem to think that their version of the rogue is the only one in existance. *sips coffee again and sits back* Anywho, carry on lol.
So honoured you took twenty minutes out of your coffee/LOL time to tell the rest of us how much you suck. You won't be missed.

Definately agree with this. A choice of who defends the family would of perhaps been better, perhaps while the others helped up their mother or something similar.

Loads have been saying in the final console version there will be an option to activate auto-attack like the PC verson. I think the option is even in the demo but greyed out, so un-usable if ye wanted to try it.
Am pretty sure this is the case but can't recall 100% off the top of my head.

Bottom line: choices mean something, gameplay is very satisfying and the witty banter is much more memorable than Origins. They also show the Assassination tree (the skills are NO suprise at all though).
"Dragon Age 2 is not what you expect. Hell, even during preview sessions I hadn't anticipated it being this much of a traditional sequel".

Enjoyed the demo(s) (played all 3 systems). Felt new, different enough to feel fresh, and above all else - unapologetic for what it is. Some people may see that as a negative, but I like that in games.
Something like Bulletstorm can pull that off, but the oversexed, juvenile approach in DAII needs to be apologized for IMO. Just because they don't care that Isabela and Bethany look ridiculous doesn't make it good.
Seriously? I would consider something like Bayonetta to be juvenile. That's probably one of the only times that I couldn't enjoy a video game because it's so overly-sexualized in a horrible way. The mechanics of the game were great though.
Isabella and Bethany on the other hand look pretty normal to me. Sure they have rather big busts but in all honest they don't exactly look incredibly beautiful for me to stare at their breasts all day. It's actually pretty hard to admire the women in this game, most western RPGs have a tough time making attractive people.
And in all honesty, there are plenty of ugly men and women for you to play as in video games, nothing wrong to have sexy attractive ones that are also well-endowed to be in DA2. This is a vast improvement from DA:O, seing as how Leliana doens't even look like her CG counterpart AT ALL.
Off topic, but Bayonetta was supposed to be over-the-top sexualized, with an over-the-top story and dialogue. The real sexual parts (aside from some real provocative a very foul language) was when she near gets nude when her her body suit (which is actually her hair) turns into a huge demonic monster that swallows up her enemies after the big boss battles. It was silly and the story was broken until you figured it out. But Bayo's breasts were not exaggerated like Isabela's are in this demo, that's for damn sure. I do agree with you on Bayonetta's combat system, maybe the best I've eve pllayed and I enjoyed that game immensely because it was so fun to play..
I see parallels to DA2 in this demo with the fast action style that wasn't the norm in Origins.

Edit: To be fair, reading a bit of the scanned review it sounds like we are in for a treat, lets hope so.

Look in the address bar and you'll see the page number that you're on. Just change that number to the page number you want and hit enter, you're there.

Wait, did you play DAO? How far into the game did you get because about oh, say, 5-10% of the way in you meet this character called Morrigan. She's a tall, dark haired lass with a ginormous bosom wearing a couple of straps over her rated R parts. Sound familar? Let's not even talk about "oversexed" when that character was the face of DAO and she was nothing but over-the-top.

Really i hope its just the demo because the combat is a little ridiculous. First off they should have taken notes from Assasins creed combat mehanics, if they wanted to go the action rpg route.
First AC's combat is among the worst game mechanics ever - it is a good thing the game is abkut not having combat.
Second, it isn't an action RPG. It is the same combat mechanics as the first game. Point n' click and something gets attacked. I know auto-attack wasn't turned on but it will be in the real game and at that point the mechanics will be exactly the same. I don't know how people get "fooled" by the fact that animations are faster when everything else remains the same. The problem isn't this combat is fast but that DAO's combat was so slow anything looks fast in comparison. If this is an action RPG so is Fallout and BG2. Oblivion has more claim to "action" since you actually have to time sword swings and raising your and aim your bow your player character doesn't do it for you.

But the animations are too cartoonlile.
It reminds me of one scene in the movie "Men in Tights", were Blinkin the Servant fights the wooden pillar.

- I seem to be part of a dying breed of gamer what actually enjoys PLAYING my games rather than watching them, which is to say that more than DOUBLING the cutscenes in a sequel is NOT my idea of an improvement. When 2/3'd of your playable demo is movies, it's not really a playable demo, and you seem to have missed the point of video GAMES in general.
- The combat seems to have been dumbed down to my character doing overly sped up, spastic "awesome poses" in still frame that occasionally make whatever I'm fighting(and some times everything around it) explode as if my very weapon was enchanted with the walking bomb spell from origins. It's as if my characters themselves can't possibly fight fast enough so they can get through all the silly "gameplay" and watch the next drawn out cutscene. I wouldn't mind an occasional pose or twirl to give a special attack a little flare, but using that technique for every swing of a sword just looks unnatural, and silly. I do enjoy that the combat is a bit more fluid, and I appreciate my melee fighters being able to close the gap on ranged in less than 15 minutes, but again, the over posing kills it.
- As for the story thus far, for all the glitzy cut scenes crammed into this demo, I don't think it would be possible for me to care LESS about the characters involved. Oh, did my sister just get crushed by an ogre? Well, I've only known her about 30 seconds so that's no great loss. Look at that...that other strangers annoying templar husband whats-his-name just died. Meh. At least in Origins I was allowed to SPEAK to my family before they were slaughtered, and for at least some emotional connection. That connection is what has always set Bioware titles apart, and it seems oddly lacking in this demo which should be cause for concern.
- A new stylistic approach is all well and good, but a "sexy" Flemeth is just...stupid. It invalidates a large chunk of the Morrigan lore in Origins, and to what end? One more overly sexed video game cliche for nerds to ****** too? To hell with continuity! This game needs a hottie milf stat! Absolutely ridiculous.
- Perhaps my biggest complaint is that this game, which is a sequel to a game I'd unquestionably place on a list of my top games of all time, is so...distant from it's predecessor that it hardly feels like I'm playing Dragon Age at all. You had an amazing foundation to begin with, and you tore it apart in favor of a more "cinamatic" experience. This demo plays like a poorly directed Michael Bay/James Cameron film loosely BASED on the Dragon Age mythos. Bioware games, in my opinion, have always been better than that. It's a real shame that this seems to be the direction you've decided to head with an otherwise fantastic series.
I've been a Bioware fanboy since 2002. This...is not the level of quality I've come to expect over the years. Too much flair, not enough substance. At some point, no doubt during a spastic explosion of action poses and special effects, you dropped the ball on what should have been a sure thing. I am disappointed. One thing I couldn't find was the option in the tactics menu for someone to use a health poultice, did I just miss it or do you have to give the direct command to each party member each time?
Sorry if this has been answered already.

1. The female run animation. I just so odd
2. The contrast between the Text and the menu screens make hard to read.
