Its a real shame that there`s not an "auto-attack" option for the game, witch means button mashing through the hole game.
This keeps being said, and someone has to keep replying that there is an auto attack toggle in the retail version of the console games.
I have played the retail verson, and there are no "auto-attack" that I can see.

Well, either a) There is a toggle and you're simply not finding it or
I know which option I think is the more likely. :innocent:

Well, I'll certainly see through the feedback of others who are playing it on the console, but I'm personally getting it for the PC. If it really does end up not being in, then I'll feel bad for people playing it on the console.
You do realize though that it could also be patched in on the official release day right? Considering it's not even supposed to be in anyone's home right now, there's no reason a patch would have already gone through.

So its in on the pc verson? My only thought is that the option would be in the radial menu in-game.. Its not in any of the gameplay options thats for sure. I will get back on this later
Edit: You may be right about the pach though, I hope you are! I will buy the game for my self next week so heres hoping.

Now about the demo. I really enjoyed it. Gameplay wise a lot of the things in da:o are still there. But its just faster and the different talents and spell have great animations. Not much really bothered me except maybe the rogue but I don't really take that road anwyas. The new dialogue wheel doesn't bother me at all. I'm sure there will be more depth for the game. If not I was content with how it was in the demo.
This isn't going to be da:o. Its dragon age 2, a different game. Its a new story, with new art, in a different region.. and I'm okay with that. The art I think helps the races look more distinguishable compared to da:o. The darkspawn always looked retarded to mean anyways so that won't change. Can't say much about the enviroments. The wastelands that was lothering or maybe an area outside of lothering was bland. But the city was pretty impressive.
The demo was good for me and I keep reading it was an older build so I'm sure they improved on most of the hiccups. But here's to hoping it will be a great game. Regardless I wil be buying it.

What are you talking about? All you do is right click on your target and they will run up and start auto attacking. Ranged will automatically start hitting anything that comes in range. If you have tactics setup, your non controlled units will move on to the next target after the current is dead and will attack. What definition of auto attack are you thinking of?
So on pc you had to push a button for every hit your character does with his sword?
No... There's also a key for "attack nearest target" so even if your character is just standing around, if you hit that key, they will rush up to the closest target within the range of that functionality and start attacking.

What you describe is how it works in DAO but also in DA2 demo so I wonder what players complain about clicking feast to attack in DA2 demo or about auto attack option, well except if you use talents, then to use another talent you have to click again for the controlled character.Graunt wrote...

I'm starting to imagine that for some players the lightening fast attacks in DA2 demo are too slow and clicking feast allow have the controlled character attack more often. Other than that I wonder what players are complaining about this.

The console version of the DA2 demo does not have auto attack. You actually have to press a button for each swing. This was said to have been changed in the retail version to a toggle. You are supposed to be able to play this way or set it to auto attack.

[*]Well, I've just replayed it this morning, and I think I may have been a little too harsh in my original assessment.Dlokir wrote...
Well I'm in the 50+ minority and funnily also with bootcamp. I'm not disappointed because I had no special expectation. But I'm worry about some points that the demo let anticipate.
Well, let see:Other than that I don't see any other improvements, but there are other points that seem well done, more or less as well done than in DAO but that's just an anticipation of the full game.
- Quite more talents allowing probably more character building from the fights point of view.
- More fight talents with singular property offering more tactical elements, for example the sneak attack is interesting by allowing mix an attack and repositioning of the rogue behind an enemy.
- Orders you dive during pause are a priority when DAO had the flaw to put tactics in priority.
- Potions cooldowns seem have been increased, this disabling an abuse of healing or mana potions.
I do agree that it's a lot. Myself I wouldn't mind keep all animations and graphics but at a quite lower speed. I could get used to all but would need something that slowdown all, making look animations less weird and improving fights fun, and ability to control a whole party.
I think you didn't noticed the first fights was rather different than the other. First fights are fake legendary fights where the character is overpowerful. Once the real story starts fights become standard.
Well Drakensang, Drakensang River of Time, Dragon Knight Saga, there are modern RPG with big production and a relative old school approach. There's also few indies like Eschalon Book series or Avernum series that are quite old school.
But only a very small minority would really pay this price any game even if in words they claim something else.
I understand your feeling but myself I still have some hope in the game and in the fights.
Perhaps a mod will slowdown all or perhaps I'll get used to the speed. For the animations or the graphic style, I don't care much it's more a detail for me, so it's really only about the speed making control a whole party unpleasant and forcing you fully use tactics for all characters but one. I'm also not sure for the new dialog system, perhaps it will be ok for me, or not.
[*]For one thing, I changed to a higher resolution and played 1920 x 1080, and this helped quite a bit. Much more than I would have guessed. The better details helped with the sense of immersion, and cut down a bit on the 'cartoony' feel.
[*]While I still find the animations a bit over-the-top for my tastes, I'll probably learn to live with them. I do think it would help if the exploding blood was turned down a bit. I'm also assuming that someone will come up with a mod to replace the over-sized two-handed weapons with something a bit more believable. That seems pretty doable.
[*]Finally, I'm forced to admit that this is the first time I've found playing a two-handed weapon to be fun.
[*]So all in all, I'm feeling a bit more optimistic after this repeat play-through.

Everybody is different but the graphic style is a choice of a style first, instead of targeting a sort of neutral realism like always did most Western computer games. For people with not much enjoyment for a precise style, a style can be a burden at first, but it's stuff you get used to it rather fast. Myself I think I stoped notice the graphic style at 3rd or 4th replay.
For the animation it's complicate, I'm ok with the hyper movements, it's a bit like a kung fu movie, I get used to it rather fast and felt it was good to mix movements and attacks.
But even after the 8th or more replay, the weird speed, is still weird and quite a burden for managing fights of a whole party. The effect is increased because I'm also playing some DAO DLC I hadn't played before and can realize the gigantic difference of speed between both games.
Like someone else suggest it's too bad they didn't think make it like some action games and provide some different speed setup for anything in the game, and a separated setup not linked to difficulty setup. I wonder if some mod could do that, it's probably a gigantic work if it's not planned inside the game on start.

I consider DAO very far from classical RPG but at least it has party and companions and party fights. With DA2 I'm not sure anymore, for sure it has companions but with the speed I wonder if I'll feel it's still a party RPG with party fights.
The disapearing of party RPG in modern Western AAA RPG isn't a new thing but it's a long agony, possibly DA2 will mark the final date.

Well I don't consider them as more or less classical RPG. I never played ME2 and tried a little ME1. There's perhaps a party but I never really understood the fights, for me it's modern shooter, no dodging, too fast, boring. There's perhaps something I don't get in the fights, but the result is it's how I feel them.Graunt wrote...

Dragon age 2 its not a nice game... Many people problalby puchase it people with different audience of course not rpg lovers...
It seems many things of dragon age 2 are designed to broke the immersion...
Thing like the horrific flat texture on the ambience and armors... the over the top ability with the ultrafast and demential animations.. The teleport effect of some ability...The exagerrate exploding bodyes also in the non exagerate part...The silly dialogue system that cut any possibilty to create a character with a more defined psiche...the lack of races and origin storyes...
And of course: The lack of a toolset... Its horrific this thing..
For me dragon age2 its not a rpg its mor an action game with a story... And also as a action game its not so awesome...
I feel that this "sequel" its more a rushed console port..
