There's a pattern.

ME1 and DA1 = PC
ME2 and DA2 = Console

Next Franchise will be PC!

That's not the trend as follows. You haven't seen shooters go back to the PC platform en-masse when that's the platform most preferred. Now everything that's a shooter (a genre I cannot stand anymore as it ahs become more than stale) are repetitive Modern Warfare clones. DA:O was awesome, Mass Effect was awesome. It remains to be seen how DA2 plays out. But some of those who disliked ME2, I disagree a bit, though in my first run through the game, I was not impressed with the story, but it was a hasty play-through. After listening to all of the dialogue and following the story after a few more play-throughs (something I had to do with Mass Effect as well to get it), it played really well to the overall storyline, it wasn't a rich as Mass Effect though by any measure. I am hoping they go back a bit with ME3.

If, and I mean "IF", DA2 just turns out to be the typical action style game appealing to the console crowd, then I would suggest Bioware just re-name it to "Call of Dragons :Medieval Warfare".

I enjoyed the demo a lot. I think this will be more of the same with streamlined combat and inventory. My only kind of "meh" is the fact that it's smaller and less epic (mostly in Kirkwall) and the graphics are average.

ME1 was X-Box only at launch.  It was released on PC six months later, well after the EA buy-out.

Yeah I played the DA2 demo a few times (trying out each class - Mage is becoming my fave). Count me as being sold on the game from playing this demo. Giving the main character a voice cool as well. Can't wait to play the full game.

A question:

How do i show the health bars of everyone on screen so i can select my targets? In Origins it was the same as the highlight usable items key but seems not in the DA2 demo

I play the demo on the x-box and it honestly sold me on the game.
That being said, I could swear I read somewhere that if you completed the demo while signed into xbox live, you recieved some sort of dlc. Is that true?

I'm wondering about this, does it let you know that it has been ulocked in the demo or you don't find out until in full game? sorry if this has been answered but there is a LOT of pages.

Loved the demo, and was particularly impressed by Bioware's decision to model Varric on Antony Worrall Thompson, lol.

One question though; will there be a storage chest from the off in DA2?

I've got the Signature Edition preordered, but not entirely sure whether The Black Emporium has a storage chest.

I'm not fully fluent in English but I think the chat demo #2 (see News section of forum) explain there's a chest for your stuff in the Emporium which is available after about 2 hours of play. This chest will be used for tranfered items like from importing or from bonus) and for storing stuff. Too bad it seems the same than in DAO, ie no tabs, not cool but better than nothing.

If you go to your profile on forum page and select Registered Game Promotion it'll show you all DLC's that you have and can download for ME2, DAO and DA2

negative:
-darkspawns look gay.(I hope I don't see a lot of darkspawn in game.) Whoever suggested that they should have pointed shoulder pad should be fired.
-combat animation looks lame. Too many unnecessary movements.

positive:
-Graphics looks better than DAO.
-nice cinematics.
-mage shooting fireballs from staff(I just wish they aren't turning around when they do it)

The only thing that can save it is an epic story. Bioware is good at that so I'm very hopeful

...will probably wait a month before deciding to buy it.

Thanks for that, Dlokir.

Nice to know there's going to be somewhere to store all that lovely stash!

I tentatively poked my foot into the thread with all the massive spoilers revealed from the conversation choices, and soon realised that I'd rather not know and find out for myself. But what i DID see, sounded awesome. Lots of cool side quests the potential impacts of which looked/sounded like they would be on a par with the impacts of a main quest.

It is aimed at having an option. You can turn off the button mashing stuff so if some people want to be more "in" to the fighting so be it. I don't like the option myself but some folks might want to feel a little more in control.

All the same things that passed for what people consider tactics in DAO can be used here and with exactly the same game mechanisms. Heck, with faster movement maybe I can actually use a tactic where I chokepoint a doorway or hall because my characters will move to attacks things instead of shuffling around while baddies run right by them.

This is the thing that blows my mind, you people are apparently so discombobulated by the presenation layer you can't understand what is happening uunder the hood. You do know that if you change themes in Firefox it is still the same browser right?

Don't get so caught up in the programming that you miss what the changes mean to the player.

(The faster movement won't change the chokepoint issue -- that occured for reasons other than the "shuffling" that some of you keep going on about.  All the foes are perfectly willing to expose their back to a sword, for example.)

As for the combat being too "over the top", just what constitutes over the top?  How are some acrobatics and dramatic violence more  unealistic than summoning a giant blizzard or turning into a diseased bear?  The phrase 'realistic fantasy' is an oxymoron and I shouldn't have to explain why.  Heck, most of the time 'realistic fantasy' is just used to excuse gratuitous violence and 'mature' content that really doesn't contribute to the story.

Why is this sort of response such a common response in these discussions?  Why do we so often hear or read someone's comment that falls back on the absolute fallacy that once you allow in this or that fantastic element, then everything is fair game, and all fantastic elements are just as legitimate?  Why does someone so often fall back to the broken argument of "How can you talk about realism in a game that allows ________?"

While I still find the animations a bit over-the-top for my tastes, I'll probably learn to live with them.  I do think it would help if the exploding blood was turned down a bit.  I'm also assuming that someone will come up with a mod to replace the over-sized two-handed weapons with something a bit more believable.  That seems pretty doable.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like we'll have fewer mods, because there will be no toolset for DA2.

I agree with the spirit of most of this. I don't think the darkspawn look *gay*, I think they look like capering undead mimes thrown up into ugly, functionless stage armor. They aren't the stuff of nightmares anymore-- just laughing and pointing.  Or being pointy, if you want. The combat animation *tweeks* look ridiculous. I don't like the new cartoony textures either. Or Flemeth's hair. The new art direction doesn't please me as I preferred the 'vanilla' quasi-realism/almost historical feel that gave the game it's own distinct "look" last time around. Armor that looked protective (aside the female elf armor, but that's easily fixed with mods) too. That was fresh and different for me amidst fantasy titles like WoW, Fable, and such. I don't like the conversation wheel. I don't like the vos for Hawke.

Aside all that-- What I really want to know is what happened to the "chill" from the Blight? Where was the ice and blowing snow that was associated with those areas during the sacking of Lothering? For me that's what kind of made the Blight unique. Most fantasy environments use the old "burn, poison and pillage" but the darkspawn brought with them this cold, wintry, grayness to the surface that starts with this unholy mist on the ground... and that was awesome. Now it just looks like a ravine from Fallout.

I didn't hate the demo as much as I thought I was going to going into it-- that's the best I can do.

I also preordered 2 copies (one xbox and one pc) awhile ago on the hopes that it would be good so bioware already has my money. Much cackling and laughing can be had while I patiently wait for a toolkit to fix things that bother me.

Is anybody else having a problem with the camera freaking out for ~30 seconds after using backstab? It's driving me a little crazy and I'm wondering if it will be like that in the full game.

Seems them Broodmothers are using bleaching the darkspawn and put them into silly clean armor. The rest of what I have seen of creatures is rather good.

They haven't decided upon making/updating the toolset for DAII yet.

Hey, try holding RMB  and (do not release until it stops spinning) just after you selected backstab

Awesome, that helped! Still... hope I don't have to do that for the whole game!
