The game is fun, that's for sure but... I thought the camera could be pulled up a little more( I don't mean top-down)... is this the highest it can be? In DA:O the camera pulled up just before it switches to top-down was perfect for me.

LOL the warrior is a AoE beast :)

I wanted to play some more but strangly on my second playthrough the demo started crashing right after the character customization screen.

I think the game is a lot of fun and the character are great. I'm definitely buying it because I'm curious about the story, characters, hardcore and nightmare difficulty and how the combat system holds up later on.

The graphics are fine. A DA game will never be as polished as a ME game but I don't mind that. I like DA:O way more than ME & ME2.

Also I can see how this game might have been designed with consoles in mind... I want to play some more but the demo crashes... I will redownload and reinstall it...

Ok, one more issue I forgot to mention for the PC version. It seems like you can't target an actual enemy with AoE spells (Fireball) anymore. You have to select a general "area" and click the ground. The problem is if your target group moves, the fireball misses. Why did they do this?

my 2 cents:

demo is short but nearly 2gb, while i don´t have bandwidth issues other might.

combat system is fast, but lacks control, either make a good 3rd person perspective or go with some close in button mashing camera (i want mortal combat style finish moves! then all is forgiven!).

i hope the inventory will be better, i just can imagine since it was disabled.

graphix: bad for 2011, good for 2005ish? or was this a somewhat tuned down version?

examples: facial expressions, ground animation, no flora at all, plain walls etc what bugs me the most is the moving metal parts of armors, bows without strings, blood that flows but is nowhere to be seen, ....

the interface looks cleaned up but more like a mass effect thing? i dunno what will come in final version.

dialog w flemeth: I WANT TO BE A DRAGON!!! i preorder now if i can play as dragon knight!

as for comparison to other games: i play other games, i enjoy them, i enjoyed DA:O and got the complete version in steam sale. its okay to compare, but this should be done in final product state.

i just wish you guys wouldn't exclude steam users so much:(

also i would like complete editions up front, when you want to make 200 bucks just tell me, then i can think about it

nuff said: go make game, i look forward to the final version

I'm going to say this again - this is NOT the thread to discuss other RPGs. It is for feedback about the demo, not discussing what is an RPG or what other games are 'truer' RPGs.

I absolutely loved the fast-paced combat! With DA:O I often thought the combat a boring necessity and would have skipped it a lot of times if I could - but here it turned fun again. Most of all I'm extremely happy with how archery felt - what a major improvement from before! I also love the voice of female Hawke and that there is now a quick button for picking up all loot.

On the miniscule downside I found the subtitles a little small - even on (or perhaps because of?) a big computer screen such as mine. Also it disturbed me a little that the sound was so much higher during cutscenes than during gameplay, I had to toggle with the sound-controls all the time. But overall - I'm really exited for the full game to come out.

I can see, why people who liked the good old round based party rpgs, and Dragon Age for it's (partial) return to that system, are put off by DA2.
I personally liked the demo very much, and I don't regret pre ordering the game.
But I pretty much like any sub-genre of rpg anyway.

This. I'm not that picky with my RPG, at least so far as gameplay mechanics and voiced PC vs. non, etc. So long as there is some good story and roleplaying in it somewhere. Having to go all tactics while I play doesn't really appeal to me, and in the case of Origins, I sometimes would just jump down to casual to go on through something difficult. Or turn on godmode. Eh.

The combat in 2 seems less clunky to me, at least in movements and execution. I might actually play a mage this go 'round. I did in the Demo, and it was nice. Ogre fight was close at points, but I think just being able to change my gear might help at least a little in that regard.

My only real gripe with the demo was some of the VA: namely Carver's, I just wasn't feeling it. Cassandra had a few moments, too, though. Graphics and that 'loading' thing, I'm hoping to chalk up to it being a demo, and that it won't be like that in retail. Oh, and the female run animation. It's fine...except for that head bob. ._.

Mama Hawke made me feel like I was back in my Cousland origin though. :P 's ok. I love her anyway.

After playing all the classes I can honestly say I love each one. Rogue was a surprise, I found it dull in DAO but here it's a LOT more fun to play. The gameplay is fast-paced and lots of fun. I might actually play as a rogue my first play through for a change. Thanks Bioware, you guys are awesome!

Archers are so fun now. I like the most Mages, but Rogues' Archers are very close second best imo. They are so powerful against single enemies, that mage died in 3-4 shots while with my mage it took forever (given the high res to magic). I was impressed on how Bioware balanced the classes this time (mage was the better mage killer in DAO, now it's not more so, and archers begin to shine, really).

Ooooh, the stench of entitlement just blew me over. Bioware has no duty to make sure their games cater to one subset group of RPG gamers (an annoying one at that) just because they seem to have some eternal hard on for BG.

Still waiting for PSN to update.

It's not an issue of entitlement.  Obviously, Bioware's only obligation is to try and make as much money as they can, at least until they reform as a not-for-profit charity game developer.  That being said, this is a demo feedback thread.  The only reason people think they have a duty to fulfill certain expectations with DA is that the series was promised, initially, as a sort of throwback to the games that made Bioware what it is.  Seeing a direct sequel changed so much is disappointing.

I thought the demo was fantastic but I thought it was confusing story as where all this going as I thought you get to explore your town with seeing father, mother, etc. in their city like 1st DA before they fought their way out of the city to the mountain.

I think they skip the story part and randomly mix the story to make it confusing , right?

It's a demo and does not reflect the full game, They just took a few scenes and made a demo out of it instead of showing you everything that happens and spoiling it. It just gave you a taste of the features and functions rarther than spoiling the storyline much.

Yes, that's what they do.  After you talk to Flemeth, the game fast forwards.  That's why you have that cutscene that seems to skip around a lot.  You can also easily tell this because each of your remaining party members gains ~3 levels after the Lothering encounter.

biggest thing that annoyed me was the ground was covered with graphic artifacting. (hope it isnt my 6 month old 470...) funnily enough the artifacting vanished whenever there was a cutscene in the same place, and yes I got the newest drivers.

pc version

Aye, same - I have an 480GTX though.

Really? Hmm, I have ATI cards (mobility HD 5870s) in a Crossfire config - didn't see any weird artifacts like that. Normally, I'd expect nVidia cards to have zero problems, whereas ATI cards can be a little on the touchy side. I did just get some new drivers recently though, so who knows. Maybe it's because not all of the DX11 features are implemented in the demo? Only guessing though (I selected DX11 in the config menu).

I found the combat system very entertaining. I started as a rogue class and just enjoyed it a lot. Only issue I had was what others have stated the loading during cutscenes. I'm sure this will be resolved by official launch so I'm not too worried about it at all :) Other than that this has really surpassed my expectations. On a side note while I haven't really read the casting I almost could swear the voice of dear mother is the same as dear mother from the Human Noble origin.

Yes, it bugged a little me too at beginning, but you make the abitude to it quite fast. Still when you are used to play DAO it can be a little underwhelming at first.

I noticed however that if you select an enemy the area gets hightlighted, however I was not able to keep that area selected while enabling the ability. Maybe we are doing something wrong.

I absolutely loved the demo! The new combat system is amazing and definitely more to my liking. The characters seem okay so far.. definitely looking forward to learning more of their back story once the game is released - deadly females much?

Anyway, thanks for the demo release!

I am not demanding that Bioware make any sort of game nor do I feel that they ought to be prohibited from making certain types of games, viz. I am not questioning their right to develop as they see fit. Just because they are entitled to do something, however, does not mean that actually engaging in that activity is recomended. For example, just because any adult over the age of 21 could legally, and without interference, could sit in their homes and drink 5 bottles of whiskey, does not mean it would be prudent for them to do so.

As you are entitled to express your satisfaction with the current strategy of Bioware, I feel equally entitled to express my disappointment. I certainly wish that the current devs at Bioware would return to the company's roots but I see little difference between any thread expressing disappointment and your thread(s) implcitly supporting Bioware's new direction. What is good for the goose, ought to also be good for the gander...

They've mentioned time and time again that they were planning the Dragon Age series to branch out on it's own now, and the way I see it, those hardcore RPG fans are just going to have to deal.

On Topic: Why was auto leveling for companions turned off for the demo?  Wouldn't that give people the wrong impression that we'll have to micromanage everything?

Am I the only person who couldn't select half of his party most of the time, however much I clicked on them they just wouldn't budge, they were just stood there standing about while I was fighting, sometimes when a character leveled up I just couldn't select them, it was rather annoying.

Also maybe I'm just being blind but I couldn't for the life of me find the select whole group button, is there one? Just meant unless all my team were stood close to each other I couldn't get them all to target one target without selecting them all individually.

All seems rather pointless anyway as the combat goes along so fast that your team are doing whatever the hell they like anyway, you basically just run around hacking and slashing and leaving your group to do as they wish, I'm honestly failing to see anything tactical about this combat at all and that's not down to the difficulty level.

I don't feel in control of my party at all in this game, not like I did in Origins. Maybe I just missed a bunch of stuff in the options which make it it more suited to me.

The game camera sucks also, I didn't think it would be this bad without the iso camera.

All the pauses for loading, it cut to a cut scene while I was fighting on more than one occasion and the game seem to want to throw in a loading screen every time you simply transitioned from one character to the next, in the same scene, I couldn't play the game like that.

Anyway maybe the demo isn't reflective of the final product, lets hope so anyway.

A few things I forgot to note the first time around :

-Pressing R to attack nearest target, very useful because the controlled characte won't do that automatically and just stand there doing nothing after each kill unless told othewise. I can understand how it would be troublesome to have the controled character automatically start chaing enemies though.

-AOE targetting : troublesome when there is a lot of enemies (generally the case when you want to use AOE attacks), left-clicking on an enemy should target the area at their feet, even if it no longer tracks. When the pointer is on an enemy I can't left click to confirm the attack, I have to click on the ground instead...

-I feel the portraits are too small, the depletable bars a little too big. Origins' layout wasn't ideal with its large round portraits, but the scale of the portraits (amount of detail visible on the face) and the bars on the side of the portraits were good I think.

I did not know you could do that in DA:O.

I was always selecting an area for AOE spells...

I wish there were more games like this...

Very fun combat system, good animations. The only thing I found bad was the dialog wheel (liked the DA:O kind of dialog picking better).

As always a perfect game delivered by Bioware

What happened to the ability to see the enemies' health bar when you press Tab? It's really a pain to have to pause the game and check EVERY - SINGLE - ENEMY to know who to turn to next in a fight.

Look in the options .  You can turn it on.

played the PC version of the demo

what can I say? the new combat system is simply amazing, much more interesting than the old DA:O, too bad it felt a bit too easy, probably because of removal of friendly fire on normal mode... guess I'll go straight with hardcore mode XD

the only bad thing is... waiting for 11th March will be even harder now ;)
