What happened with "hey let's not have absolutes"?
I'm not going to repeat what others have posted before but judging on the demo, the game just went to "no buy", perhaps from the bargain bin someday but for full-or-half price, it's a no go. No value to be had.

I have a suggestion. Go and make your own RPG game. Then it can be perfect. Until then you will have to be satisfied with what others make.
i dunno what people expect these days. computer RPGs have never been full RPGs in the real sense of the words. at their best they have been very good storytelling games, especially since the use of voice acting.
... just saying. real roleplaying (playing out another character with you own personality) will never be possible on an semi interactive medium.
given, bioware is using the same story elements over and over in their games (be it a child of baal, jedi, warden or specter) , but it works... for the most part.^^

+ The combat feels the same on the PC, can't comment for the consoles.
+ Even on medium settings, the graphics look decent and similar to DA:O set on high.
+ The armor design is better from what I've seen
+ Rogues have some new animations that look awesome, like kicking away the stun grenade.
+ Every menu is accessable from a different key on the keyboard. No oblivion here, thank god.
- The new darkspawn look terrible.
- The animations for 2 handed warriors look terrible and are unconvincing.
- The dialoguewheel looks and feels out of place, I really dislike it.
- Some of the dialogue is really awkward. Example : "You will not have him. They will not have you."
- The UI is extremely bland and feels more like something that belongs in a sci-fi game than a fantasy game.
In the end, not a bad game from where I stand. I love what you did for rogues, but I'll still stick to my regular 2-handed heavy armored warrior despite that I'm not too fond of the 2-handed animations. The charge ability is just too much fun.

The same problem I seem to have with every new game it seems now. . x.x I can't see the text it's so small I can't read anything not from the items to the start menu. Looks like I need to get a new tv to enjoy this game in the full content.

But I dont like combat at all, I miss tactical view and to be honest...combat was boring for me. And I dont like interface at all. Same with graphics and art style. I dont know, probably will buy it later because story is only think I really enjoyed in demo. Rest was meh...

BSOD (the first one I've had after 18 months of W7).
Appalling textures, ridiculous 'skiddy' combat, three second pauses during cut scenes completely ruining any flow to the narrative.
Crash to desktop. Meh.
If the absolutely dreadful PR campaign, the DRM, the Steam debacle, hadn't have made up my mind, then the demo would have done anyway, Looks like this will be the first Bioware game in more than ten years I won't be buying.

Story seems to be good, I enjoyed some coments about stuff that happened in DA:O. Especially when Flemeth mention "some" Gray Wardens.

I ran into some issues, first that I tended to get a lot of really short stuttering load times between conversations and in cut-scenes, and I wasn't running on max settings and I exceed the recommended ratings as far as system requirements go. I also had a somewhat strange problem of Flemeths body becoming partially transparent in some scenes, and one crash in the Character Generation screen on my first run.
I am going to try it again as F!Hawke soon anyway and tweak the settings for a bit to see what happens. Very glad to have gotten my hands on the demo!

If I had my druthers the choice would be made due to character interactions, so maybe if I said something that angered my sibling that could result in their death or something along those lines. That's not to say I hate the game now or anything I just wish this scenario was a little more flexible.
One of the bugs I noticed was in the tactics selection. Often the menu I was clicking on would bring me to a different selection also it seemed like the menus weren't really closing, I just couldn't see them any more so when I made a selection I was clicking on the invisable menu. Also sometimes characters would select abilities in the tactics menu that their class didn't posses, Carver choosing mage spells and such.
But like I said these bugs are likely already fixed in the final game. Is it possible to get a direct answer on whether you can in fact determin which sibling dies in the final game regardless of class?

I got through it once (the first time, go fig) and it looks like a pretty good game. I'm worried about the buggyness but Hell, I do play on a PC.

Reading other comments before posting? Never?
Use DX11 renderer. Probably it happens if you have a DX10/11 card and you use DX9 under Win 7 (and I suppose Vista too). All newer games that use DX10/11 runs much better with DX10/11 render if they are built for it.
Took a bit to find out it myself but before complaining you should try a little yourself to resolve a problem you have. It's a well known thing that DX9 lags when a game is made to work with DX10/11 with a DX10/11 card.

This was not an issue in DA:O because, first, there was just a lot less blood, and the dismemberments were limited to an occassional head cut off -- much more cartoony and indistinct. Secondly, I could scroll out far enough that it just wasn't an issue. I was very happy knocking down little monsters from a distance. This in-my-face-exploding gore.... YUCK.
I'm very very concerned that I will no longer feel comfortable playing while my children might walk into the room. Wow, talk about cutting down on mom's 20-minutes of gaming reward times.

I'm going to say this again - this is NOT the thread to discuss other RPGs. It is for feedback about the demo, not discussing what is an RPG or what other games are 'truer' RPGs.
Then can I say that your game is not an RPG, after i played the demo? If you think it is, than i can say that it is an awful RPG. That's my feedback....

Everything looks ok even though the game mechanics and battle movements are far to similar to DA:O. Moves look flashier especially the rogues and mages.
I noticed they added new idle movements to your characters. Why on earth does the female character have these girly movements?? She's holding a two handed sword and slaying dark spawn, in conversation she acts all tough, but when she's idle she'll move around like some 10 year old princess. Ugh. I guess there's always something to complain about.
Anyway, everything looks better in terms of animation and the textures are better as well. Can't wait to play this at max settings!

- I really miss the tactical overview (PC gamer here)
- loading times before cutscenes (that never happened in Origins)
Asides from that I'm a happy camper.

1) Is it itching somewhere?:
Do the characters have something up their asses? I mean look at them running, it's a fraking moonvalk except they move forwards. Some animation speed tweaking is required.
2) Too damn fast:
Well, as a 2H warrior i have finally the time to land some special attacks before the target collapses but i tried to play a rogue and sweet mother of jesus, i couldn't grasp a **** of what was going on, just the time to smash the buttons randomly and see various body parts flying around.
3) Those little bastards are ignoring my orders:
Ended up alone during the second ogre encounter, just because the big Berta blonde tank refused to drink her potion, oh and the healing spell might need his cooldown reduced a bit.

The demo basically confirmed every fear I had about this game:
- Bad writing.
- Bad voice acting.
- Trash mobs.
- Combat is both mind-numbingly boring and completely spastic at the same time.
- Art direction is a mess. I don't care about technical graphical quality, but art direction is very important.
- Limited dialogue choices that don't actually affect the outcome of the game.
So, to everyone saying "wait and see" (including the developers), am I allowed to think I won't like this game yet?
(And no, I'm not saying "worst game ever" - if anything, the demo is so aggressively mediocre it defies me to even care enough to dislike it.)
Pretty much summed up my feelings about it.
I can't believe some people are actually suggesting that this is only a demo when the game is a mere few days away and they're expecting graphial/combat updates.
It truly shows how stupid some of them can be.

Well, few things:
1) Have you ever heard word "optimization"? I can play most games in hd quality, this game was "loading" in medium 1440x900... Are you kidding me?
2) Game felt like slasher, was enough to take my character and point enemies to kill, rest of the party managed to kill everything i didn't... Dissapointing.
3) Dialog options are for kids from kindergarden, sorry guys, bad move...
4) Graphics... For Christ sake, DAO was beautifull, DA2 is just bloody and boring, landscapes suck so badly my eyes bleed...
5) Size of the weapons... If I would like to play Final Fantasy...
6) Where is rpg? Didn't noticed it... At all...
Summary: I will probably cancel my order for this game...
Exactly what I think.

I have a DX10 card, W7, ran the DX11 renderer, and was still getting the loading in the cut scenes. For what it's worth. *shrugs* My lappy has a DX11, I could stick it on that and test it, but I'm not really in the mood to do that at the moment.
But I'm not that bothered. Very likely something to do with the fact that it's just a demo, and how things were put together.
