Dragon Age 2 Demo feedback thread

Flemeth was awesome. It was great to see this character back from the original, and to wonder what scheming was going on with the delivery she wanted me to make and how it connected to DAO and to Morrigan's story. She looked fantastic and was my favorite voice actor. I really cannot say enough good things about the acting, I personally thought it was all great.
I also loved all the women who kick ass. Plenty of great female characters with different personalities.

Did you use your Rouge like you'd use a warrior? That may be the problemPaulypie wrote...
OK why am I the only person who is finding it rediculously hard? Played as a Rogue and getting my arse handed to me a lot.
I found it wierd easy if you made your Rogue an archer.

Looks like this will be the first Bioware game in more than ten years I won't be buying.
I'm sad to say the same:crying: Although I didn't buy Awakening.., hmmm, perhaps I'll do that instead.

Regardless about everyone's issue is with the graphics, "Dragon Age: Origins" is a superior product on so many levels. Everything from the character interface, weapons interlace, abilities, animations, etc...
"Dragon Age II" is a console game that looks, feels, and acts like crap. I am completely sorry for having such of an opinion, but that is just how I feel after playing this demo. Its crap.
Another thing that bothered me, when you chose a dialogue option, the words the character says should be exactly what you choose. If I choose "I hate you", I shouldn't get "blah, blah, blah..."
"Dragon Age II" is just crap.

1) Game is looking for some drive (for me it was I:/something/cd4) during connection with servers.
2) I really hope inventory won't look like this in demo...
3) In windows 7 pro 64bits have to launch as an administrator, when don't it won't go at all...
4) If it really starts this way, it is so dissapointing comparing to DA:O...

The demo basically confirmed every fear I had about this game:
- Bad writing.
- Bad voice acting.
- Trash mobs.
- Combat is both mind-numbingly boring and completely spastic at the same time.
- Art direction is a mess. I don't care about technical graphical quality, but art direction is very important.
- Limited dialogue choices that don't actually affect the outcome of the game.
So, to everyone saying "wait and see" (including the developers), am I allowed to think I won't like this game yet?
(And no, I'm not saying "worst game ever" - if anything, the demo is so aggressively mediocre it defies me to even care enough to dislike it.)
Pretty much summed up my feelings about it.
I can't believe some people are actually suggesting that this is only a demo when the game is a mere few days away and they're expecting graphial/combat updates.
It truly shows how stupid some of them can be.Cebul86 wrote...
Well, few things:
1) Have you ever heard word "optimization"? I can play most games in hd quality, this game was "loading" in medium 1440x900... Are you kidding me?
2) Game felt like slasher, was enough to take my character and point enemies to kill, rest of the party managed to kill everything i didn't... Dissapointing.
3) Dialog options are for kids from kindergarden, sorry guys, bad move...
4) Graphics... For Christ sake, DAO was beautifull, DA2 is just bloody and boring, landscapes suck so badly my eyes bleed...
5) Size of the weapons... If I would like to play Final Fantasy...
6) Where is rpg? Didn't noticed it... At all...
Summary: I will probably cancel my order for this game...
Exactly what I think.

Mages are still OP.
That is all.
That's not actually all. Beyond that, everything's awesome. I love the character designs, love the VO work, love Flemeth, love Aveline, lovelovelove Bethany. Everything is diamonds. Except, seriously... mages are so frakking OP. It's not even funny. Seriously, guys, come on.
Nerf mages.

Unfortunately, the demo confirms that my decision not to pre-order DA 2 was correct. Too much repetitive combat, too much so-called immediate action, too much linearity, too little RPG value and depth. And even though not the most important thing in an RPG, the graphics are a bit underwhelming too, especially the character models. And the features of some female characters seem a bit exaggerated.
Sorry, but one ME 2 was enough, and enough of a disappointment. I will still read reviews from credible sources, but it's very unlikely that I will buy DA 2 for the full price. I suspect that the price will drop similarly quickly as the price of ME 2 did though, so perhaps I'll be playing DA 2 eventually.

Appalling textures, ridiculous 'skiddy' combat, three second pauses during cut scenes completely ruining any flow to the narrative.

Use DX11 renderer. Probably it happens if you have a DX10/11 card and you use DX9 under Win 7 (and I suppose WinXP too). All newer games that use DX10/11 runs much better with DX10/11 render if they are built for it.
I have a DX10 card, W7, ran the DX11 renderer, and was still getting the loading in the cut scenes. For what it's worth. *shrugs* My lappy has a DX11, I could stick it on that and test it, but I'm not really in the mood to do that at the moment.
But I'm not that bothered. Very likely something to do with the fact that it's just a demo, and how things were put together.
Mike said it happens in some systems (if you are talking ONLY about loading in cutscenes, I was talking about loading screens in all gameplay in the first part), but it's resolved in the final build.

The combat was really fun. Now I can't decide which class I want to play. Seems I'm leaning more on wanting to play the rogue though. Moved so fast that the demo was over before I knew it XD
I have no complaints so far but I only got to play for a bit on my brothers xbox.

My first game, I played as the warrior and it was pretty tough. I was actually kinda disheartened when I could no longer use the whirlwind move that you get in Varric's embellishment of the event. It also makes me wonder if leveling up that quickly will happen in the actual game.
And speaking of in game things, Aveline's husband mouthed something when I tried to talk to him, but he literally said nothing when we were moving through the path. Maybe it's a glitch or an insight we shouldn't know just yet?
Also, I found out that being nice to Aveline in the way of doing certain deeds for her, it leads her in the rival path. Letting her do it herself is actually kind of touching, and well, nets you more friendly approval.
Not to mention, apparently Carver enjoys sarcasm and when talking to Aveline the first two times without sarcasm, I didn't get any approval from him. I did however when I used said dialogue options.
Oh, and one more thing, DA:O seemed to favor the rogue in the beginning as well as playing a male due to certain choices with Morrigan, so do you think the same will be said about being a mage? Playing as the mage, it seems it may be of more consequence due to the whole chantry crumbling, etc.

Story seems to be good, I enjoyed some coments about stuff that happened in DA:O. Especially when Flemeth mention "some" Gray Wardens.
But I dont like combat at all, I miss tactical view and to be honest...combat was boring for me. And I dont like interface at all. Same with graphics and art style. I dont know, probably will buy it later because story is only think I really enjoyed in demo. Rest was meh...
But funny how only thing I really enjoyed was references to first game.

Instead of staying in this section and ranting, I am going to move onto another game. I will head back over to the "Dragon Age: Origins" forums. Why? Its a top-notch product. "Dragon Age II" is just crap.

Also having a voiced PC makes it feel less like 'me' playing, more like moving a doll around. Both of these had a serious impact on believability and immersion; I'm really disappointed

Anyone else laughing at how almost every negative feedback post is exaggerating their experience to almost impossible lengths? "Graphics far worse" rofl, yeah, sorry, but that's downright idiotic to say.
If you don't like what they say then feel free to make a feedback to the feedback thread.
No reason to try to flame people for being honest about there feelings.
