I think the new friendship/rivalry system got potential but it looks a little like it's already setup in favour of who we are suppose to befriend and who we should fight. I just hope the brother and sister is the only two that comes with the bar leaning one way or another and that the story is not leaning in favour of one direction for the rest.

Beyond that the game seem to set up our character as being a warrior type since even if we are playing a mage it behaves the same (stepping in front of Templar). With that in mind I think I personally will try to play a warrior first since I would prefer not spending my first playthrough fighting with the game over what direction I wish to take. Besides the brother looks rather dull in comparison to the sister.

Overall solid demo, I really love the mages! The warrior was kinda meh imo, and the rogues are quite fun from what I can see! I like the clean menus and the health/mana/stamina bars feels clean. Good demo can't wait for march 8th!

Cool down timers for mage spells seemed long. I never had to worry about mana because I was auto-attacking most of the time waiting for abilities to recharge.

In fact, if you're a mage the cutscene is a little different than if you're a warrior/rogue. In the former, the action should be focused a bit more on you, while in the latter, it should be focused on Bethany.

Of course, it's entirely possible that the same cutscene is playing in both cases, as it's been ages since I've seen the demo build, but hopefully not ;)

I've played demo for both the PC and 360 and......WOW! The PC graphics look a lot shaper than the 360's, and i was only playing on low with the PC version. I geuss the 360 demo is likely an earlier build but that's not the only reason i'm leaning toward the PC version.

I've already played through Origins on the PC once and i feel like that is the only way to play a deep RPG like this. I enjoy switching back and forth between my party members which is a lot easier to do on the PC.

I really like the faster combat, especially the way the warrior quickly dashes toward an enemy instead of just casualy running up to them. Mages also seem to be a little more survivable as it's easier for them to run around kitting enemies.

I can't wait to play the full game on March 8th and see how my Origins save import effects the story.

before getting into the game itself I'd just like to point out that I'm having to go through steam to get it cos the bioware site keeps hanging the download, not a biggie but you guys might want to check that out... on a bright note that obviously implies that the reaction is quiter beyond what you expected so congrats there :) didnt find the demo on the psn so maybe it isnt out there yet? hopefully ill be able to post about the game next time :D

I apologies if this has been asked and answered but does anyone know if the pause and issue orders will be available for console or is that gonna be just PC only? Reason I ask is I found myself in the demo stunning an opponent with my warrior and fumbling around trying to get my Mage into position to lay waste to my stunned enemy. It would be a lot easier with the DA:O pause and order.

Mashki...

Suggest (politely) you look at your system. I installed to 64bit (custom prog files folder) on Win 7 Ultimate and other than missing a couple of dx files (had to reinstall dx) it played perfectly fine for me.

Why the hell did you had to add bloody icons to the conversation options?

"OOOh ... nice teal wings, this must be the GOODGUY option! Bah, something red, this is for EVILGUYS, right?"

Why did you dumb the game down so much? For the console guys? Same with the Final Fantasy-esque interface. Who are you and where is the real BioWare? Seriously, is the SOE impersonating BioWare by any chance?

There was quite a bit of difference yes. I didn't mean they where mostly the same. I just ment that when the player was a warrior it looked like Hawke stepped up to protect her sister while as a mage none really stepped up to protect Hawke but instead she still went face to face with the Templar.

It's not bad but I prefered the warrior. Besides if the rest of the game allows me to play out that kind of relation with Bethany I will be quite happy.

That's an option even in the demo, I believe. Under Gameplay, change Radial Menu behavior to Hold Open.

I liked it a lot. I love the voiced PC, enjoyed the archer rogue, the story snippets I saw were nicely done and I really really really enjoyed Flemeth's time on the screen. I want that hair now ;-)

Okay - I know its not allowed (apparently, accordingly to other threads) but I really didn't like the female run animations. It may seem a small thing but if I have to watch my PC's behind for 40 hours I'd prefer it didn't swing about like a pendulum.

That's my only quibble! Yay to Bioware - the speed of the combat was 'oh eek' at first but the rogue had no troubles. The poor mage I tried...er.. let's just say the Ogre ate well that day. Will try her again when I get home tonight.

Pull your left trigger, or L2 on PS3 to pause the game by bringing up the radial menu. You can issue orders from it, switch party members and so on.

Only problem I've had with this demo after two play throughs is that sometimes when i press the potion icon.. nothing happens. Sometimes i have to press that damn icon 5+ times before the character actually uses one. I hope thats just a bug in the demo version, as that could seariously make you dead fast on the harder difficulties.

Other than that, I liked it. I had my doubts when i first heard about the changes but they have been put to rest.

Think its time to go preorder it now. =)

Weeeee! Demo was a blast. Played as a mage and really enjoyed it. I do have one little nitpick... the tactics were kind of wonky. I had a hard time getting them to work correctly and sometimes they just wouldn't work at all. But overall the demo was a lot of fun. Thanks Bioware.

the demo was great. loved how the different class play especially the mage. my only problem was the text size and color. i had trouble reading the text. i am playing on a 40 inch and i had to squint to read. please make a patch or option to chang text color and size. other than that this game is going to be awesome.

Anyone else having stutter in dialogue/cutscenes?

I've got a pretty high end gaming rig and i seem to gett stutter and small delays mid scene.

No problems during fights.

Love the demo otherwise, mage seems to rock.

I'm suddenly unsure if I should play as rogue, was 100% sure before demo. Dont' get me wrong, rogue rocks too, but mage feels equally cool.

I could have sworn BioWare admitted they made a mistake in having the text be so small in ME2, and that it would be fixed for ME3. So why is the problem in this game? I can think of absolutely no realistic or logical reason for such tiny text. Even a slight bump in font size would make a huge difference.

And no, the answer is not "get a better TV". I have no interest in a 60" television, which would be about what would be required here. The only real solution is "move your couch 10 feet closer to the television".

Seriously, what is the point of tiny text fonts?

I enjoyed the demo but there are a couple of things that worried me and one thing that REALLY frustrated me.

I played on PC and I know they removed the overhead tactical view (why I don't know, I played 90% of dragon age in that view) but it also doesn't seem possible to dislodge the camera fro mthe character you have selected.

This is a HUGE issue to me. It's really frustrating to have to tab between characters rather than pan to be able to see more than one on the screen at a time. I really dislike having the camera limited in such a way. Even without the tactical view it'd be so much more enjoyable to be able to move the camera freely around. I prefer to be able to lok down at a number of my characters fighting and give multiple of them orders, currently this is nigh on impossible.

Somone please tell me that this is going to be in the full game on PC, one of the trailers said a bunch about freeing the camera from your character but this seems to be the exact opposite :/

The only other gripes were that I didn't see any sync killsin the demo. Are they gone for good? I absolutely loved them in DA:O, got the mod to increase the chance of it happening as soon as I could. I know he kills the ogre in the cutscene but I hope that they're implemented in game again, thatd be a big disappointment if not, doens't look like there will be any on minor enemies :/

I also found it hard to notice when I was doing flanking damage as a rogue, in DA:O it's very clear when your'e backstabbing and the damage shows up differently. In this he just seemed to repeat the same slicing combo no matter where he was.

Had a few pathfinding issues but other than that it's good. Liked the visuals during combat, less so much up close and the voice acting seemed a fair bit worse, at least from what's in the demo.

Please tell me you can release the camera somehow :/

My only gripe so far is that i cant get past the ogre wave no many how many times i retry.

You should have some healing pots in your inventory by the time you get to this encounter (see the quick button in the lowerright corner on your screen)? Also, when your mage sister levels up you could always grab a heal ability.

GL with your next attempt. It's not all that hard tbh B)

Hmm I'm not sure if I like it as much as I liked the first one. I'm not a huge fan of the whole "skip time but use a cutscene to fill you in afterwards" thing they have going on. It seems a bit choppy to me. After the whole thing with Flemeth doing us a favor (which I'm not even 100% sure about) we kind of jumped straight to meeting Varric and Isabela. From what I've seen I really like it, don't get me wrong, and I'm sure I'll get used to the narration, but as of now I'm a little iffy about it. Gameplay and graphics are really nice though. :)

Just played it and here is my feedback, I'm going to be fair and list pros and cons.

Pros: This game feels like Dragon age down to the core. I was very impressed. I love Hawke and the other characters I met during the intro part. Nice touch with the tutorial and varrics imagination made me lol. The combat is much improved and I love how it seamlessly jumps into it now rather than the old "oooh gimme a sec I need to shuffle into position" style combat.

cons: I didn't like how some of the scenes had to break the action and load the transition to a new scene. For example when you kill the ogre in the haha hawkes a badass part, it had to stop the action and load up the small scene of him killing it then it briefley had to stop and load the next bit. They were small pauses in the action but I wish it was more seamless. I understand though if there were some technical limitations. Still it would be nice if there was a way to speed up the scene transitions as it kind of kills the immersion. These bits are more noticable when it cuts back to varric and isabella talking. They get one line in then oops gotta load because it's a new scene.

The other thing I wanna mention is on the PC version I really did end up missing the abilty to zoom out the camera. there were times when I was in combat and wanted to run hawke over to some far off enemies, which I couldn't quite click on because of this.

Overall I rate this demo a 8/10 very good work bioware :)

Where is (or will be) the auto-attack option be located on the radial menu?
