It feels like somethings missing, with amazon's discount I was in the maybe category but now I don't think I'm interested until I hear an official yea or nay on the toolset.

Anyone else having stutter in dialogue/cutscenes?
I've got a pretty high end gaming rig and i seem to gett stutter and small delays mid scene.
No problems during fights.
Love the demo otherwise, mage seems to rock.
I'm suddenly unsure if I should play as rogue, was 100% sure before demo. Dont' get me wrong, rogue rocks too, but mage feels equally cool.
This is an issue with the way we used to handle loading of cutscenes - I'm not a technical guy so I don't know exactly what happened, but this is no longer a problem in the final build.

It feels like some kind of medieval operating system or something. It's quite intuitive to get through and just really impressed with it. Once again. Kudos.
Just hope I don't have to watch Carver stand up and die again multiple times when the scene changes...although that was funny!

Something must be missing because, A branch with a leaf and a Purple Diamond seem very ambiguous to me. Is there something that explains what these are suppose to represent?
p.s. Healing pots cooldowns? I might just have always played origins on the easiest setting but is this new?

It was technically sound (apart from the DX9 annoyance, also don't alt-tab), fairly easily playable, but not particularly interesting - likely simply due to the fact compressing a large game into a demo is hard. I understand it to be a combat showcase, but the style of how you play the combat didn't feel excessively different to DAO, as other people said. That's not a bad thing at all.
The graphics look somewhat better in motion compared to screenshots I saw, at least. My brain did a double take when I performed a single right click and Hawke-mage started spinning around throwing fireballs, but I guess that's the style of the game. I also had to pause it in the last quarter because I was laughing too much at Isabella leaping and cartwheeling around the room. It's definitely stylised alright. Maybe I can get used to it. I've never been a fan of the talk-wheel but I endured it in ME1/ME2 and so can too here. I think the text is a little small though, even on a 1920x1200. Perhaps anti-aliasing would help a bit.
It ran smoothly enough. I still have absolutely no idea of what the plot is/will be from the demo, but maybe that's a good thing. Overall, I think my view is generally positive. It has potential to be a good game.

Is it a bug that you can't level up in the demo? The fights are not fun with everyone auto attacking with a few seconds of abilities each fight. Being the demo I can partly forgive this, But I was pretty excited for a really mediocre experience.

Pretty much everything the old-school gamers feared would be lost from DAO. Combat feels like every other button-mashing console 'action game;' out there.
Didn't like the way they forced party members on you and forced you to do their quests. Looks like companions are mandatory now. No choices to make - the only meaningful choice is auto-decided by your class.
It simply doesn't feel like an RPG. Like many feared, it's an 'action' game aimed squarely at the konsole kidz who wanted more fighting and less choices/role-playing. But 'lowest denominator' sells, so it will probably break all kinds of sales records.
I shall decide to buy it or not when the romances are confirmed - I certainly wouldn't want it on this evidence. There are dozens of Devil-May-Cry games out there already.

Why the hell did you had to add bloody icons to the conversation options?
"OOOh ... nice teal wings, this must be the GOODGUY option! Bah, something red, this is for EVILGUYS, right?"
Why did you dumb the game down so much? For the console guys? Same with the Final Fantasy-esque interface. Who are you and where is the real BioWare? Seriously, is the SOE impersonating BioWare by any chance?
Did you actually select any of the 'red' options? I did, and they're not evil. They're aggressive/defensive/brutally honest.
For example, if you play a rogue or warrior after saving Wesley and Aveline? That 'red' option that you're labeling as evil (boohiss) ACTUALLY gives you the option to defend Bethany's apostate status.
Don't remember the exact wording, but it pretty much amounts to, "I'll have you know, I stand with Bethany."
That doesn't exactly strike me as something an 'evil' person would say.
And the reason we have indicators now is because MANY people complained that in DAO, the 'tone' of the options wasn't very apparent. It's how a great many 'ninja' mances were started.

Nothing triggered on my first level up to point towards what to press, that instruction only showed up a little later. Kinda miss the old Ogre design but I can see what you were going for with a more cohesive look to everything.
It does freeze noticeably between fights and cutscenes but that could be my PC having a memory moment, will need to investigate a bit more, also the voice actors are sounding very good and some of the dialogue made me laugh. Do have my fingers crossed that there's a way to speed up the healing spell cooldowns in the final game though.
No comment on the companion mechanics etc. yet, think that'll require a bit more than a brief demo, hopefully it'll be a good balance in the full game.
Overall thumbs firmly up - roll on March 11th.

Shame that DX11 does not work in the demo, I wanted to try that out. No AF in the demo either but I assume I can force it through the nVidia control panel. I love the design and the graphics though, it looks much better in high res while playing than it did in screenshots (and that's just the opening flat area).
Gameplay was awesome. Very tactical and very much like the original game, just with a faster and more visceral feel to the combat. My rogue was bouncing from enemy to enemy and doing backstabs and cartwheels and it was all under my control, yet also all founded on tactics and positioning. It was very easy, but I assume the demo is on normal by default. I plan to play the game on hard. About the only complaint I have is friendly fire, I do disagree with the decision to have it be off on normal and hard and I worry "nightmare" is too hard for me, which basically makes FF not an option. That's a bummer!
I ignored the story... will save that for March 8th!
So thanks Bioware for making what seems to be another awesome game. I was very critical when the game was announced because as usual the EA marketing department sucks and I think you guys really worded a lot of things wrong, either on purpose or by accident. In any case the proof is in the pudding and you made another tactical RPG, only more awesome, and there ain't nothin' wrong with that.

-Has huge replayability for a Hour long demo
-All the classes are unique and have a very different feel to them which makes it different everytime
-Animations and facials are top notch
-Weapons all feel very powerful and can be used from afar or up close and dirty.
-"Something awesome happens button" is very true, from back flipping, to creating a huge wall of ice spikes in front of you the awesome is definetly happening!
Cons:
-It being a demo, want the full game now! LOL
-Not being able to save, look at inventory, equip different clothes and weapons, check out Kirkwall some more
Yup my 2 cents

really pulled you in?
I just started playing the demo and it really feels like... crap. Everything is
in a perfect boxed window. The popups, inventory, hotbar, player status. It
just feels insanely dumbed down. There is no UI effect. I do not feel like I am
a part of the game when playing it because of this. It is really hard to put
this kind of thing into words but damn.
The Mass Effect styled chat responses are even a bigger joke. Catering to people
who have problems reading a sentence? Even have to give them a visual clue as
to what kind of 'mood' the response is? It really feels like you are insulting
my intelligence by releasing one great game then dumbing it down to this level.
I'm sorry. But this demo has confirmed everything I have feared sense the first
announcement of this game. Another great franchise destroyed because they want
to bring it to consoles.
Also Bioware. Great job in making a forum that disables Firefox's spell checker.

I Dislike the Choice wheel and finally understand why people have been refering to this game as "Dragon Effect 2" I think the original system was better. I understand as a company its easy to use what works or whats popular, but it feels like a watered down way out.

I think you're looking at an "olive branch", as in "peace"? The diamond was discussed elsewhere and, I believe, is supposed to represent a "brilliant" piece of dialogue, a "gem" of a phrase. (I'm sure it'll be in the manual.)Capone666 wrote...

There were cooldowns on healing pots in DAO and there was a cooldown timer, but I don't see the timer here in the demo, which is frustrating as I keep hitting the darned icon and nothing happens!

While the combat was fluid, it was simplified. Even on hard difficulty, i only needed to click an enemy to attack and everything was done The combat, while fluid, is repetitive and simplified.
The combat animations made me feel embarassed over what i was playing.
I couldnt choose race. that is, in my opinion, the greatest robbery in game history.
The dialogue is Mass Effect. The main character is not a mute.
The characters felt shallow.
On a good side though, the "new" skill-trees looks like a fun thing.to explore in the full game, it takes me back to the days of Diablo 2.
To be honest, i feel that Dragon Age 2 will probably be Bioware´s worst game since Jade Empire.

The demo crashes when I get to Flemeth
I just get infinite loading the a CTD.
Voice actress for Hawke's mom is really flat, no emotion at all during the scene with the son.
I am loving the graphics enhancements, looking forward to the release date if the crashes get fixed
