Hey, you and me both.  I played through the demo, was fairly happy to somewhat meh about everything, but still looking forward to the full game, and then we come to Isabela.  And my gorge starts rising.

I guess I should be grateful that she's built like the proverbial brick ****house all the way round and doesn't have a waist smaller than her forearm, but those breasts are damned offensive to me as a female player.

Sorry.  I'll still be playing this game but Isabela is not going to be doing any adventuring with me.  Just grotesque.

Just to be fair I do know of two girls in real life that are her size naturally.  And one that is (unnaturally) even bigger than Isabela who was in a sister kick-boxing class.  Just because one is top heavy doesn't make her any less interesting or believeable as a character.

Bollocks, And the only Anime you can name is Dragon Ball Z...which was mostly a MARTIAL ARTS Show

In dragon ball, they are not humans, but Sayan, the superhuman.

Hawke weighs how to make rolled balls in the air? And his sword weighs how much? He holds it, and pat with as if it was just a pen or a plastic sword.

Who taught him to do kung fu with his feet? Bruce Lee ? No, no, please.

Bruce Lee?

You do realize That Bruce Lee way of fighting means ""Cheat and win."

Also, I sense Tak Kwon do, Not Jeet Kune do.

I liked the demo. Too bad they didn't keep the command layout the same as in the first game, but I will probably get used to it after playing the game for a couple of hours.

All in all, I am sure it is going to be a great game.:)

Just finished the 1st play-through, and I'm not terribly impressed.

1) Combat is too silly (jumping about, etc).

2) Jumping attack don't work if there's an obstacle (archers on the hill) - not a huge surprise since that didn't work for vanguard charge either (anytime moving hexagon platforms are involved). Given that the archers are unavoidable, and that the demo is probably the most polished section of the game I'd be extremely weary of bugs in the main game.

3) Knock back attacks require manual re-targeting (i.e. after every attack by the ogre) - really?

That's in another thread - somewhere - technical problems?

You need to go to Microsoft site and download DX 9 and restart. It appears on Win 7 machines. V v annoying.

Platform: PC

The combat feel was faster than I expected, but that's a good thing in this case.  It has the frenzy of an action game mixed with RPG complexity (that you can probably miss if you don't think tactically and pause accordingly).  Again though I don't see any real difference tactically in that it's still tank-dps-healer mechanics where CC and kill order are an important part of making sure you meet a dps check before your party fails a health check.  At any rate, first impression of combat is very positive.

I also like what we saw of the framed narrative and approve of the stylistic changes to Flemeth.

I played through the demo with a smile on my lips. LOVE the conversation system! LOVE the fact that the shuffle combat is a thing of the past

Some things may have seemed a bit over the top, but that's probably just because I'm so used to DA:O.

Only real negative for me was the running animation (mainly for femHawke). Doesn't look like a natural or comfortable way of moving

I liked the demo overall. I'm against the "power rangers" combat (as Maelora aptly called it) - it was unneeded and looks raddichio at times, jumping on the enemy from 5 meters, teleporting behind them to perform a backstab, those things were compleatly unclalled-for but I don't think it's gamebreaking, just retardates the fights and make them look like anime for 15 year old boys... I'm not even going to mention how enemies literaly explode after being stabbed with a dagger. Oh wait... I did. If you guys wanted the combat to look funny, you did well.

I like the conversation system, especialy the icon indicator, next Mass Effect could use that. Can't say the same about skills and statistics, I don't think that streamlining them to this point was a good idea, still, I would have no problem with it if the interface was not as confusing as it is (call me dumb, but I do find it confusing like hell). Hated the level desing of first map, but it was a wasteland, I understand and can live with it (I just hope that the city map was not the best Kirkwall has to offer), I just think that making the place look more like what we seen in DA:O would make more sense even to just start the game in a more familiar environment.

Graphics were well optimised, I was able to run it on medium with a bit lowered resolution. Still, I am very (and by this I mean extreamly) dissapointed with lack of gfx customization. I can rund DA:O with full texture detail, lowest graphics details and some other stuff turned off on my desktop resolution (1920:1080) and It looks better than what I can do with DA2 + it never hacks... demo started choping itself when Flemeth showed up. This sucks ass like a wild monkey. I know that for people who can run dx11 it will probobly look amazing, for me it looks worse than DA:O. It never cease to amaze me how developers make console games on PCs and then convert them back from consoles to the platform they were made on.

Voice acting is swell, I like the new art style, music was fine and it all looked decent. I'm amused, I will gladly pay for the full version, but I am far from amazed. Maybee the full game will change my mind.

Well, that was about as dumbed down as a game can get and not lose all it's audience. I like the new ability system even though combat was pretty uninteresting. The escape from Lothering level design was really uninspired and it felt like the designers just were lazy there. The dialogue system is as bad as I feared that it was gonna be. It also more often than not made no difference whatsoever which dialogue option I chose. For example the Flemeth dialogue where I twice said that I did not want Flemeths help, then I suddenly have to accept it since the red choice no longer is that I don't want help, not it is that I can't promise to help her or something. Now tell me, why give the player the option to say no to Flemeth only to seconds later be forced to say yes? Makes no sense at all and it would have been more acceptable if it was a fully noninteractive cutscene since then it would have been clear from the beginning that I had no input instead of this pretending.

Miths wrote...
Importing the dialogue wheel from Mass Effect was an extremely welcome change in my opinion. Selecting from complete sentences was fine - and necessary - back in the days before full voice acting in RPGs, but I find it extremely annoying having to listen to my character repeat the exact text I've just read (not that the mute protagonist in DA:O was any better, (s)he stood out like a sore thumb among all the voice acted NPCs - BioWare definitely did the right thing borrowing from Mass Effect for DA2).

Better seing the character repeat text then the character saying stuff I don't want to say half the time imo. One time the dialogue option I chose was so incredibly stupid that my first thought was to reload the game, my second was that this is DA2 so it has no effect anyway. Yay.

At least now you have a clue what type of dialog you are making instead of randomly selecting a line of text and hoping its not an arrogant comment because u can't really tell.

You are telling me you couldn't figure out what effect a certain sentence may have in DA:O? Really?

Why bother with conversations at all then? Add an Option to always chose the "Green Option", saves us unnecessary cut scenes before we can chain a massive combo move for +3000 combo points.

Hmm, wasn't impressed with the combat... it basically devolved to *mash A repeatedly till thumb is sore* There definitely needs to be some kind of auto attack setting, like in the first. Also, it seemed when i switched to the mage i would just run about in circles to get the darkspawn in a train so my warriors auto attack for me.

Not digging the new flemeth. Yeah its pretty interesting but I thought the old ragged woman in tatty rags was far more interesting actually, I genuinely didnt think she could be particularly sinister or turn into a dragon, I thought she was just a mother with some magical shapeshifting abilties like being able to turn into a cat or a bird or something less threatening than a dragon.

The graphics are definitely a step up, a bit cartoonish in some areas for example Malehawk looks like a cartoon version of Duncan. Femhawke looks pretty hot though and I agree with the majority, her voice is GREAT.

The dialogue wheel i thought should have really stayed in Mass Effect, and the peace, jesting and red fist or w/e symbols denoting good or evil or sarcastic dialogue is not needed, it is a clear example of Bioware trying to snag some Call of duty players who are too dumb to understand the concept of good and evil and where the line between the two blurs, as is with mass effect at times.

The landscape featured in the demo seemed rather bland and boring, and like someone else said, it literally looks like mars.

Not looking good for me, sorry. Mind might change over time, but for now this is definitely not a day one purchase, I'll wait for some reviews from trustworthy sites (aka not IGN) then make the decision.

Played both PC and 360 version. I am a PC gamer by heart and it pains me to say this, but sadly I had a better experience on the console, the controller made the experience more immersive for me, being able to take advantage of the faster paced combat with ease by not having to right click each individual enemy, and more flexibilty with the camera. I hope down the road, This game or future Bioware games will have controller support.

Controller = More Comfortable
Keyboard = More Tatical (Hassle)

I am basing this critique on things that stood out, therefore, it's not a terribly objectivity-oriented reivew. (i.e. knew combat was a focus point, it turned out well, not surprised, not mentioned) [Edited 16 hrs later for clarification]
Played on PC

Pros:

-As much, if not more stats than expected. Every ability was clearly explained.
-Graphics are looking a lot better. If the textures for the clothing are the same on medium as they're on very high, however, they may not be anything to write home about. i.e. Satisfactory-Good, not Great, 3.5-4/5.
-After re-consideration, I feel obliged to mention this; the animations are truly great. In my opinion, of course. But feel very strongly about the look of the combat.

Cons:

-Not a big fan of the 'widescreen' like bottom bar; feel as though it would've looked better had it been split up into a left and right part, rather than having a big block at the bottom; looks dispraportional to me personally.
-The lack of clarity in dialogue choices is irritating. Difficult to tell whether the humour response will be candidly light-hearted, or outright sarcastic.
-Either I missed something (entirely possible), or there's no way to zoom around the battlefield as we were told we could; only switching to different chars to get their POV. Quite irritating when targeting far-off enemies, potentially irritating when trying a cone-type ability to work with max. effectiveness.
-To echo an already voiced concern, which I thought valid; I wish the enemies would be more distinct and autonomous; i.e. if they had just one or two root, or freeze, or debuff abilities would be great-rather than having them just use a basic attack perpetually. I'm only basing this on what I saw in the demo, however, so hopefully the rest of the game would be more intricate in this respect.

Alright... (Note: I played it on PC)

1) The story seems solid enough. Due to the nature of the demo I cannot judge yet upon the impact of decisions made however

2) Combat feels both superb and awfully ugly. Why? It is far smoother then it was in DA1 (congrats!), but due to the graphic scenery and the way of fighting, I am getting reminded too much of certain awfully bad console-ports which had a similar way of fighting (IE Darksiders) - which totally spoils my game experience.

3) Graphics. Looks better this way this colourpallet, but what the hell has happened? Even though it was ugly due to the constant use of brown, you at least could feel immersed slightly into DA's cities and such due to the design of them. However, in this demo I couldn't even detect the liking within of it... the surroundings just did nothing for me....

I am going to consider, reconsider and re-reconsider whether or not I'll even buy DA2.... feels too much as a cheap console knock-off for me.

Transient, no one is suggesting that you have to dislike the character. At all. I'm simply stating that I find her body to be completely over-the-top and sort of gross. Said over-the-topness I find to be catering to male gamers in a way I'm not sure I've seen Bioware do before. And that I won't have her in my party at all. You can enjoy or not enjoy the character as much as you like.

Quick question--is Isabela also a romanceable for the female player? Because she was coming on to me at the demo's close and I was surprised.

Mind blown is all I can say.

HOWEVER I play on the PC and the tactics menu would glitch up.For example, I'd select a target, select Self, and it'd auto assign a health percentage. The second half of the selection interface didn't happen.

Minor setback, would fix itself if I exited. Still thoroughly enjoyed it.

So, let me get this straight. You have no problem with every male in the game being a muscular hulk, but one "shapely" female is sexist?

First of all, I preorderd the signature edition as soon as i saw the first game play footage, but holy **** i was not expecting the awesomeness that is dragon age 2, its ridiculous how much i enjoyed the demo.

The character models are so much better than dragon age origins as well as the magic and blood effects, overall the graphics are just simply a massive improvement over the first games and i love the new art direction, everything seems to fit alot better into the world.

The animation is indescribably good, seriously i was blown away at how fun the game is now because of the new animations, everything is faster, and it all seems to be more impact-full and and satisfying. The only bad thing i can say about it is the rigging of the armour still bugs me, a plate chest piece should stretch when a character moves his or her arms or shoulders, but its not as noticeable as it was in the first game.

The small amount of story that was shown was outstanding, as soon as id finished the conversations with Flemeth i wanted to go back and replay DA:O before this comes out in the next few weeks, I hope Morrigon shows up somewhere as i love the storyline of what her mother is and how they lived.

I liked all of the characters that were introduced as well after initially i didn't think id like most of them initially.

Things i didn't like:

Apart from the close up of the lantern at the beginning which was really ugly i cant say anything bad about it. but still anything bad i said about the game are not noticed by most.
