This is the error message I receive after downloading the app: This Application has failed to start because d3dx9_43.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I have tried re-installing 3x now...what is the fix?
Go to google search for d3dx9_43.dll, download it and move the dll file to your system folder.
By default, this is C:\\Windows\\System (Windows 95/98/Me),
C:\\WINNT\\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\\Windows\\System32 (Windows XP,
Vista, 7).
That always works for me, could try putting it in the game folder aswell, but I always go with the system folder.

So, let me get this straight. You have no problem with every male in the game being a muscular hulk, but one "shapely" female is sexist?
I have to laugh at this. I played through as GuyHawke and while he's not a 98 lb. weakling, he's also in no way built like Isabela. Nor is Carver. Sorry.
Right, thigh sized arms are a common place, sorry.
Jig, the real corollary would be the size of his ****. Please don't be obtuse. Some female gamers are going to think Isabela looks ridic and leave her at camp or wherever the hell we leave her. No one is telling you that you have to. This is a Bioware feedback thread, and I just let Bioware know what I thought about it. Enjoy the game, I plan to.

Played it on xbox. It's great. the only problem I have is that it seems like the armor of your companions can't be customized. If you go into the inventory it's locked but you see that your teammates can't equip their own helmets, armor or gloves. I think they're going to with the system like ME2 were you can't customize your team. Maybe Bioware's wants you to buy new appearance packs like ME2. Oh well.......I like what they've done so I'm buying it anyway.
Inventory is blocked out in the demo. I could post something about xbox players not reading information displayed on the screen here but I won't... ups.

Combat feels faster than in DAO but since I like micro management of party members and paused the game frequently it didn't feel too different. Actually it feels much better than I expected.
For me the dialogue wheel has the same problem that I find in ME games: being just a "general pointer" of what Hawke is gonna say, sometimes what he says seems to go a bit far from what I expected.
Regarding the character classes, what has pleased me most is to see that mages are still a powerful force in the battlefield, and archery. Archery, as has been said, has received a lot of love and I really enjoyed playing a ranged rogue in the demo. On the other hand, melee rogue animations are a bit too "ninja" for my taste.
For warriors, what pleases me most is that with the new skill trees I think it's possible to make more varied builds. I feel somewhat less encaged in my choices with warriors than with rogues and mages, but since this is a short demo I could be wrong, we'll see how it plays out at higher levels with lots of points spent, once we have the full game.

Oh my god! What did they do to Dragon Age?!
I hadn't expected it to be so bad.
It's a nightmare! Don't have to say why, other PC players alredy have...
I guess stupid consoles' players need stupid games.
Welcome to the club. This is a rubbish console port. In fact its so bad that Bioware really ought to stop releasing games on the PC altogether and leave them on the consoles only. We dont need PC gaming to be further ruined by crap like this.

Too Buggy
Dialogue wheel is a very poor decision
Targeting is terrible
Difficulty is way too easy for "normal" mode
Writing is weak and rushed
Male Hawke VA sucks, female is much better
Are they all wearing diapers or something? They're running like the just shat in their pants. Very weird running animation.

I like the demo from what I've played. I'll play through the entire thing tomorrow. I like Carver better than Bethany, just do and I also find Isabela's breasts ridiculous (don't know who designed her but I can guess it was a guy or at least a guy who was overseeing the project). She won't be going anywhere with me. I do like Varrick's attitude though. I think he'll be fun to play with. I like the combat a lot. I like the new skills area (I played a mage) and I have to say that I like the darkspawn too. I don't have a problem with them. So far the only graphic I have a problem with is Isabela and believe me, I am a large breasted woman. I just don't think she's attractive at all and I don't like her personality from what I've seen. Other than that, I like what I've seen so far.
How rude! So just because you find her unattractive you are unwilling to play with her if you had the chance? What's wrong with her personality as far you could even guess from the demo? I think that's ridiculous... Leave the woman alone!

I was pumped for this game, but after playing the demo I'm having doubts. The controls definitely feel like they were made for a controller and this game feels more than awkward on the PC. The camera on the pc version is absolutely horrible. Bioware should have tested this game on the PC sooner with actual gamers or something. This seems like a rather huge deal to miss.
As of right now, I may end up having to purchase the xbox version over the pc just to be able to play this game as it stands. I can make due with the new visuals, but the controls for the pc are just killing it.
QFT, I hope the devs read this
+1 on that. Hadn't even thought about that, since the graphics and combat shocked me both positively and negatively, but you're completely right about that... tried to zoom, forget about that. Just won't work.

I absoutely loved Dragon Age Origins it's probably my favourite game and one that I will replay every so often. I have racked up numerous hours on it of pure enjoyment.
When I heard about DA: 2 is was estatic, and I had been looking forward to it for ages.
The first thing you did was make a character you had to play, nor being able to pick a race, I didn't like this at all, but I accepted it.
Today I played the Dragon Age 2 demo for the first time. And to be perfectly honest i'm now stumped whether to buy the game or not. And here are a few reasons why..
You brought the Mass Effect dialogue wheel to Dragon Age, why, oh why, would you do this. It's boring, be nice. be funny, be mean. DA:O's dialogue was much better.
Graphics. graphics are terrible, and the way you made the darkspawn look is just stupid.
Combat, hack n' slash combat, Mashing buttons and your character does crazy moves... I don't like this at all.
The cutscences, my god it feels like i'm watching a movie, cutscences every 5 minutes, some in the middle of combat....
I know I will be grilled for this I just wanted to voice my opinion.
QFT. My thoughts, exactly.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Please, just please tell me not being able to move the camera with the mouse on pc is some kind of bug and not a design decision. This horrific camera will completely ruin an otherwise great game.
I can adjust the camera just fine with the right mouse on the PC version. I wouldn't worry bout that.

Had several problems even running the dang thing. First, a missing DirectX .dll, second, a crash while loading the cutscene after character appearance customization, and finally (while monkeying around with settings trying to resolve the previous errors) some sort of odd "please insert disk" error that made the game windowed and obscured in-game graphics. All issues were resolved, fortunately, and I managed to play through the demo to completion as a female warrior-Hawke.
The Negative
I have a non-gaming gfx card (ATI HD 5450) so I ran the game on low, and wow... the game looks absolutely horrible. Painted-on details for armour and Isabelle's sheathed weapons floating really looked odd. The game was approaching slideshow fps during the final battle in the demo, because of all the blood effects I think. Also, some of the character's faces had weird model clipping issues when they made certain expressions. Reminds me of KotOR, how on low settings NPCs would have really low-res textures for their eyes, and main characters would have decent textures for their eyes, so you'd always know who was going to join your party before they did. Overall, the demo is very disappointing graphically.
The ME Dialog wheel feels out of place, and most of the decisions feel very paragon/renegade. It really takes away from the "shades of gray" that the original DAO tried to do in its dialog. The short summaries of what you say gives a player no idea what Hawke will actually decide to talk about when you select it. ME has really suffered from this. Alpha Protocol's dialog system was a much better approach. (AP didn't try to explain what the player was going to say, only that it was going to be in a certain tone or that a certain action would be taken. i.e. Aggressive)
If the entire story is being told from the perspective of the Dwarf - Varric, I think is his name - why are we even playing Hawke? Again, it reminds me of Alpha Protocol - except in AP, the protagonist is the one telling the story so it makes more sense. It's going to be annoying every time the plot is extensively changed because Varric omits, forgets, or lies about a part of the story.
The companion battle AI customization menu has some awful usability problems, primarily a massive difficulty in selecting the individual cells - i.e. trying to change a condition from "Enemy: Any" to "Enemy: Health >= 50% takes two minutes because of how finickity the selection boxes are. Another problem is some of the Action cells would change if you clicked on an empty Action cell. Very annoying and it's shocking that you would release a demo with such problems. Also, selecting an area for an AoE spell is really awkward because of the camera perspective and sluggish camera controls.
All of the loading during the game, considering its length, really takes away from the pace and immersion that the game tries to achieve.
Lastly, It's unfortunate that there's no appearance customization or equipment management in the demo.
The Positive
The new skill trees allow for much more interesting customization of a character. Also, the character attributes section very nicely explains all of the intricacies of the various stats - which is very nice.
Combat is very fluid, feels much more actiony while it retains a fair amount of tactics. In the first part, enemies actually die as quickly as they do in cinematics... consistency is good. Feels more like an MMO in the later sections, though I guess DAO did for the most part. Overall, I feel the combat really suits the 'visceral, brutal, bloody' approach Dragon Age so desperately tries to mimic.
Misc
Voicework was forgettable. Don't even remember if there was music. Ridiculous character designs on Isabelle and Flemeth, and a beardless Dwarf! The madness! Oversized weapons really feel out of place, even though they were in DAO... Although I admit I like fighting with them.
I'm curious about the friendship/rivalry system and the ten year storyline, but unfortunately the demo didn't show me anything about them.
Overall
I guess having a demo is better than not... but really, it leaves a very poor impression in every respect save for gameplay, which, I admit, is enjoyable. If the actual game is in the same state as this demo... well, I think I'll pass. I've got the game on my radar.

The only place I had any issues was that there seemed to be some buggy behavior in the character and tactics menus:
For the character menu, it kept booting me back to the game if I tried to switch characters while in the menu, so I had to make the character I wanted to look at active first, then open the menu.
In the tactics menu, it was very difficult to open up the tabs for condition and actions, as it seemed like the clickable 'hot spots' for those options were very small, and not consistently placed, rather than being the entire bar area as one would intuitively expect.

Personally I like the direction the game is going in, and I have never really enjoyed Rogue befor, not in WoW or any game where I can choose one, but this time I loved it.
My only observation, and I know nothing can be done, but what do we really gain with making Flemith some dragon milf? Does it make the character deeper? more interesting?
Personally I think seeing Flemith switch from a high dragon into her old woman rags from DA:O would of been more of a contrast, it just makes my head hurt, as im expected to belive she dresses all super cool for hawke but then tones it down a minute later when she intereacts with the warden?
Other than that, superb I cant wait for the ful game
