I thought the demo was fantastic but I thought it was confusing story as where all this going as I thought you get to explore your town with seeing father, mother, etc. in their city like 1st DA before they fought their way out of the city to the mountain.

I think they skip the story part and randomly mix the story to make it confusing , right?

It's a demo and does not reflect the full game, They just took a few scenes and made a demo out of it instead of showing you everything that happens and spoiling it. It just gave you a taste of the features and functions rarther than spoiling the storyline much.

for you not for me

Loved it so far. I really enjoyed the Rogue; I found actually playing as one in DA:O really boring as compared to the other two classes, and it's nice to see them come into their own. I agree that the animations are a little ridiculous, but that actually fits the character Hawke I started planning. XP I'm going for a very, very snarky Rogue, which brings me to my next point: I'm loving the change in dialogue. I like being able to see which response will actually be snarky. Kind of a bummer seeing the "huge dialogue trees with silent protagonists" stuff kind of...Die, but I grew to love Mass Effect and I'll love this too.

Lothering bothers me. I understand that it's the Blight, but it would have been nice to see a more recognizable area or two. Hell, maybe it was recognizable and I just didn't notice. At any rate, Kirkwall looks awesome, so I'm not worried.

The new darkspawn are kind of dull-looking, but since they're not the main villains this time it doesn't bother me too much. I HATED fighting the darkspawn, too, so...Not being as concerned with them is a great change! Or I hope it will be anyway.

The pause is a little disorienting, but I'll get used to it. I like the character designs too; yeah, they're not some sort of huge leap, but graphics long ago reached a point where I was happy with them. Any further improvements I rarely notice.

The new menus are...Actually easier to navigate for me. Especially on the 360 version of DA:O I'd occasionally forget where everything was. It doesn't fit into the theme as much, but eh.

The ogre was a pain in the ass. XP! The first few times, anyway. Sticking my Hawke close to his sister throughout the fight made it much easier, though. Nice to see I couldn't just hack my way through the first boss though.

Whoo-hoo, Flemeth! I always love Kate Mulgrew's voice work. XP Speaking of, I have no complaints about the voices. I like both male and female Hawke's, definitely. Not as much as fem!Shepard, but her voice actress is always hard to compete with. XP

The abrupt transition didn't bother me, because I know it won't be there in the final game. Getting to see some of Isabella's introduction was awesome; I think my male Rogue will have her as love interest the first time through, just because it feels like, so far, she fits him better than Merril. Sad there wasn't a chance to actually use a flirt option, though. XP!

Wish there was a little more to the demo; I would have liked some mild freedom and exploration. But it's certainly gotten me pumped up for the full game. I'm hoping that, like ME2, this will REALLY bring me into the series. Right now ME2 is one of my favorite games of all time, and I'm hoping DA2 gets up there as well.

Just finished playing through the demo. I had quite a bit of trouble getting the download to work, but let's talk about the demo itself and not its download implementation.

The good:

This game is FUN. Usually I don't play BioWare games for the gameplay. If I want elegant gameplay mechanics, I go elsewhere. But the gameplay in DA2 is much improved from the original. It took me a moment to get used to the camera controls, but that's a minor problem. It goes faster, looks better, and still retains tactical depth. I ran into one fight without thinking and got my butt handed to me. Same fight with tactics--much easier.

Graphics are better than DA:O too, much cleaner with less clipping. I like having colors other than brown in my video games! And Kirkwall, from the glimpse I got of it in Hightown at night, is breathtaking.

I will say that the mage still feels a little overpowered. Or maybe it's just an issue this early on in the game. But I placed more value on keeping a mage PC Hawke or Bethany alive just because I still felt like the mage had more overall utility and versatility than the other classes at the early levels in the demo.

The "needs improvement":

I also had a lot of stutter and delays, even loading pauses mid scene. I doubt it's my system, but since I've only tried it on one set of performance modes, I'll try again with DX11 and see if it's any better. I also doubt it's the system, since this system handles StarCraft II, Civ V, and Mass Effect 2 with no trouble.

Something also seems to be wrong with the tactics menu. Mousing over the options doesn't highlight them correctly unless I back all the way out of the character screen and go back in. It makes customizing tactics a huge pain in the butt to the point of being practically unusable.

Jig, the real corollary would be the size of his ****.  Please don't be obtuse.  Some female gamers are going to think Isabela looks ridic and leave her at camp or wherever the hell we leave her.  No one is telling you  that you have to.  This is a Bioware feedback thread, and I just let Bioware know what I thought about it.  Enjoy the game, I plan to.

And some female gamers are going to think she's the bomb and take her around with them everywhere.

I've just finished playing the PC demo, after having played the 360 demo nine times this morning pretty much as soon as it was available. All I can say is I'm glad I pre-ordered for my 360. I have no complaints what so ever about the console version, I think it plays great and feels good, just what I was hoping to get. Admittedly the conversation wheel was unexpected but I can deal with that.

The PC version on the other hand, through me for a loop. It has been a while since I played an RPG on the PC, so maybe I'm rusty, but having to button mash the right mouse to attack felt awkward. Especially when that button is also camera free look, kind of buggered up my spell aiming and what not. Also, it had me switching targets a little too easily, so keeping a targeted ability on the target I wanted proved a chore for me. Having the option to maybe have the left mouse be camera look would be a nice addition.

Maybe its just me though. All in all, I love it, I'm giddy with excitement about the release and I have no doubt that I'm going to have a blast with my 360 version. Kudos to the whole DA2 team! I can't say I'll be getting it for the PC as well though.

P.S. I love that the female armor actually looks more realistic now, as if they were wearing a real suit of armor, instead of the weird shaped breast plate bulges from Origins.

I'm pretty sure that there are some folks at Bioware who are as ashamed of this game as many of us are. Congratulations, you just raped an amazing IP.

Oh, and for the love of god, Flemeth with sexy outfit and massive cleavage? I didn't really fully agreed on consoles users stereotypes until i played this demo (both x360 and pc version). Now everything is much clearer. Thank you.

I really enjoyed the demo (Played it 3 times, each time as a different class) and I have to say that the combat has really shaped up to be rather awesome. This is probably the first time I have ever enjoyed playing as something else besides a warrior. I liked combat in Origins, but it never just was that exciting. Like others have said before me, it was basically "Ok, just click on that guy and lets sit back and see what happens".The combat in DA2 helped fixed that problem, and now the game feels more like, well, a game! The other improvements, such as the new dialouge wheel and the skill tree upgrade, were also well done and helped put me in a better place in-game. My only gripe, though is that you can no longer chat with your companions in the middle of the mission. I really hope this is just a demo thing and that you can really connect with your companions outside of Kirkwall in the full game. Waiting for March 8th is going to kill me though...

Well, DA 2 is definitely an RPG and not a dumb hack and slash as the devs have said and reasrrued us it would be. Playing on normal as is the difficulty in the demo, I could feel that if the difficulty was bumped up, I would have to start using tactics and what not.

I am pretty satisfied with everything except for the graphics. Wesley's arms are a great example. The buckles on his arms look they they are not buckles but a pattern that is a part of his shirt. This is just ugly, to he brutally honest. I thought the days of tricking gamers with buckles and other details which are actually "painted" onto the armor and not a separate piece entirely was long gone.

I like the demo from what I've played. I'll play through the entire thing tomorrow. I like Carver better than Bethany, just do and I also find Isabela's breasts ridiculous (don't know who designed her but I can guess it was a guy or at least a guy who was overseeing the project). She won't be going anywhere with me. I do like Varrick's attitude though. I think he'll be fun to play with. I like the combat a lot. I like the new skills area (I played a mage) and I have to say that I like the darkspawn too. I don't have a problem with them. So far the only graphic I have a problem with is Isabela and believe me, I am a large breasted woman. I just don't think she's attractive at all and I don't like her personality from what I've seen. Other than that, I like what I've seen so far.

How rude! So just because you find her unattractive you are unwilling to play with her if you had the chance? What's wrong with her personality as far you could even guess from the demo? I think that's ridiculous... Leave the woman alone! :bandit:

Well, I can say that if I ever buy the game (doubtful, see my previous post), Isabela will be part of my team. My Lady Hawke took an instant liking to her breasts ;)

My issues:

I thought the wilds had trees, don't tell me they were all corrupted and fell over dead, and then a giant dark spawn lawnmower came by and cut all the grass in to oblivion. If the wilds are what we can expect in terms of atmosphere then color me unimpressed.

Combat and this zippy flash of light stuff is... yikes. I know personal preference and all that but it appears every melee swing at least from 2H is a cleave, the animations are seriously out of the ninja gaiden and dynasty warrior playbooks. I honestly don't see outside of some very rare and scripted encounters that tactics will matter at all. Tanks seem really overpowered cause aveline took like no damage after taunting large packs in isabella's mission. Also, those 1h animations are pretty bad.

I also must echo what has been said about controller support for the PC. This game felt.. weird with kb & mouse. I asked back in the summer if were going to get controller support after seeing the leaked footage of combat and we were told "no bro, this **** is tactical you see u gotta like... attack **** tactically you kno.. yeaaaaaaa."

As for the wheel... oh man i knew this was gonna happen. Basically what paraphrasing and the icon system do is literally pigeonhole players in to certain choices based almost completely on intent. In origins you could say something you thought was sarcastic but it was really the dick move option, but you preferred it over the cheese line that was more in line with what your intention was. Now i understand this is also a problem with the whole voiced protag crap but yea. The dialogue is enough itself to put me off let alone the other issues. I guess i'll have to wait and see what people have to say about it when they can fully explore the whole 'overriding attitude" system thing.

Played PC version.  Is there a way to disable click to move?  Driving my nuts.  I try to attack an enemy, miss him, then end running to the area behind him.  Its really a pain.

Never thought I would miss auto attack.  Really hope I just didn't find the option to disable it.

1) Man, the texture on that scale armor was terrible on the Medium I was locked into using.

2) I know the beginning is a tutorial bit, but did you have to make it yet another natural corridor?

3) The fast combat feels fine, but now I feel incredibly anxious if my rogue is auto-attacking rather than using an ability, and he doesn't have very many at the beginning. Unintended consequence of juicing up the abilities.

4) Am I misunderstanding the attributes? There seems to be a threshold of Cunning that takes you from the thirties for armor % to 50%, and below that your armor % falls quickly. Basically it seems if you're not going to sit there at ~50% you shouldn't even try. The +DPS from strength and magic seems slight by comparison to the apparent benefit of feeding Cunning a bit every level.

Yes. Big problems in fact. The game works like a charm on DX9 settings though.

I have an Nvidia 570 card which should be able to handle DX11. Graphics tears up and it has perfomance issues.

I just got done with my first play through. For the most part I am happy but my one gripe is with the low zoom out. After about 20 minutes it did not bother me and no way feels like a console port. Also why is everyone complaining that you have to hold in rmb in order to turn the camera? I could have sware you had to do that in DA:O.

I don't know where to begin..

It didn't feel like a DA game at all as it feelt more like a game of Ninja Gaiden/Mass Effect panncake mix. The new graphic/spell effects/abilitys are cool but other then that you guys didn't really improve the gameplay, you destroyed it from a PC gamers view.

Super fast messy hack n slash combat that didnt require any tactics what so ever not even on the Ogre fight. The camera angle was one of the most annoying things I have ever encountered in a game and the character animations/graphics feelt cheap compared to the enviorment. That goes also for the cutscenes. Voice acting feelt stiff and didn't give any epic feeling at all.

It seems like some sort of trend where game developers dumb their sequels down to a level where it's not intresting any more. Why change things that where good from the beginning? Why add stuff from other games instead of creating something new or keeping the old? I am not even going to mention DLCs. You should be ashamed Bioware.

No wonder people download games illegal, who wants to spend money on a bad over-hyped game?

So, let me get this straight. You have no problem with every male in the game being a muscular hulk, but one "shapely" female is sexist?

Played this dumbed down peice of tripe. I am really sad. At least there is the Witcher 2 close on the horizon for those who prefer mature games that are not dumbed down. Bioware used to have a lot of respect from me and the rest of the PC community. I think those days are numbered.

Honst quote from another forum:

Some of you people need to read up a bit more about DA:O's development. It was always meant to be a PC IP. I remember David Gaider and other BW devs on other forums and interviews saying how it was designed for the PC only, way back in 05/06. They very much wanted it to be a true hardcore PC rpg in the vein of BG. When EA took over, DA:O was 3/4 into development but EA insisted they make console versions as well, with compromises being made to the game...that's when it all turned to **** for this IP. DA2 is just an evolution of the EA/BW corporate mindset.

But hey, its not all bad. For every old school rpg'er they've pee'd off there is probably 10 action kiddies they've won over....so yeah, EA will be rolling in money regardless of what cynical old farts like me think. Nobody is really right or wrong in liking/hating the direction this has gone. It's just that it sucks that for people like me, another (potentially good) rpg IP has turned to ****

Right, thats my monthly rant out of the way :P

Yes, we know. You are the entitled "old school rpgers" of the earth, while the others are all the "silly action boys". This remembers me when I did go to an artistic circle were there was these so called "rollà poets" that thought that only rhyme was good for poetry and all the rest was an idiocy. A shame that their knowledge on the argument at hand was so low that they neither understood that symbolic poetry was born to destroy the too strong interest in rhymes to the fault of the meaning, actually rendering the same poetry lame. Without that change poetry would have existed no more, and in fact the rollà turned to songs later.

From all the old rpgers that I've seen till now the story repeats also there. Apart that I'm sure you know about RPGs as a whole as my mother does, but your objectiviy on the matter is non-existent because you have a blatant lack of knowledge on what the hell you are babbling about. There are no fixed rules for RPGs, as there aren't in poetry. The only thing that counts, really, is the emotion given, and you are so deaf to this emotion that nothing could ever pass through, apart those already dead that you would like others to have.

Step down from your auto-imposed pedestal. Nobody took you there nor you are entitled to it in any way, nor you are the depository of truth because truth doesn't exist. Stop with the morale and learn to judge things in a ample context instead of only on the things you like.
