Miranda and Jack were both made to be very attractive, but at least they didn't have ridiculous "teenage boys love this!" huge knockers.

Wait, what? Did you ever take a good look at Miranda when she turned around in her a-little-bit-too-tight-suit?

I forgot about when mage Hawke tears up that ogre:

My second time playing through I noticed some black arms grip the ogre and rips it apart. I thought that was pretty cool. I wonder if that's what some of the spells under the tree where the mage summons stuff from the fade is going to be like.

It reminded me of Bayonetta and her channeling demons with her hair.

I played both Baldurs Gate 2 and Dragon Age: Origins (I'm a PC-Gamer obviously) and the funny thing is most of the negative things many others here mentioned didn't really bother me. The combat is greatly improved, but it wouldn't hurt, if we were able to move the camera freely (that's a bit annoying in some situations). Otherwise it feels better and faster than in Origins.

Things I really (!) didn't like:
  • Why does the Rogue have to do a cartwheel all time (and I mean ALL the time if he/she tries to follow an enemy ...)? Just why? Nobody would ever fight like this ... wastes way too much energy. Please fix this, it's ridiculous. There are moments, when too much coolness becomes pitiful, you know?
  • Why do enemies explode no matter how you kill them? If I kill them with a fireball they should burn, if I kill them with an arrow they should be thrown over backwards with an arrow in the head ... they shouldn't just explode when you kill them with a sword ... what was so bad about the more realistic finishing moves in DA:O ... you didn't improve them, by making them explode everytime -.-
  • FemHawke runs like Peggy Bundy

For you people having trouble with the camera and the mouse, hold the right mouse button, you can rotate the camera even while moving or in combat.

Bioware please remove the "Loading..." text with an icon.

It is distracting and unprofessional.

i think most people would have expected more of the same like origins but i guess the biggest beef i have read so far is lack of quality....and too many changes to the game compared to dragon age origins...i think bioware should have made less changes to the overall feel of the game and concentrate more on the quality of things, like cinematics, voice over and other little things that people complained about from the first game..

like they say if it aint broke dont try to fix it...it looks like bioware went the complete opposite way of this philosophy..but the game is gold and is coming out...we ll have to live with it now. not much we will be able to do to make things different....

First impressions are not as great as I had hoped, the storytelling is awesome and I like the radial menu. Hawke's voice is great.

Combat is blah...what the hell is this?

The camera view is HORRIBLE. Let me pan down so I can see across the field of combat not just at my feet.

Combat seems cool with all the fancy twirling and all, but its obvious that the consoles won here. You needed to make it simple so controllers can handle it, I get it.

It is so dissapointing when strategy was involed in the first now its just a spam fest. Mash keys and you win. Pause is not considered strategy, its just to slow things down when the screen is filled with various effects/blood/bodyparts so you can actually see what is going on in amidst the chaos.

Also why is the game loading everytime any talk or special action happens, it breaks the immersion badly. It makes the game seem very jittery. An example is the finishing blow on the first Orge, you are in heated combat then <Pause 1-2-3 Loading complete> finishing move!

In saying all this, I will still play the game to death.

It's just one of many reminders that this game panders to the notion that "all gamers are horny teenage boys"

I believe it's to rope on all these sad people on the forums making threads about loving characters.

Im not sure why everyone likes the graphics so much. I played on 'High' graphics on the PC version and I was not impressed :\\

The only upside graphically is that the motion is much better than DAO

Other than that, I enjoyed it though. I like that they made the different special moves seem more different.

THe biggest problem I had was with Lady Hawke's walking animation. It was just....weird. Though, from watching the interview with Mike earlier, it looks like the final build doesn't have the same problem. True?

Why you female gamers are complaining over a video gamer character's breasts I will never know...I'm a female myself and didn't even notice till you all said something. I think she is a pretty awesome character. Nothing wrong with showing of what cha got.

Played the PC

Combat was confusing at first till I got the hang of it, Graphics was stunning and I love the details on the character clothes.

To anyone saying, the Combat is like Anime:

Bollocks, And the only Anime you can name is Dragon Ball Z...which was mostly a MARTIAL ARTS Show.

OK, so it looks like Naruto, Bleach, Saint Seiya, Hokuto no Ken (it even has dismemberments and everything :) )... just because one mentions the most well know anime doesn't mean we can't come up with other examples.

Saint seiya...Not bad. Image IPB

But Bleach, Naruto and Hokuto No Ken don't count.

and you can chose who dies...carver or bethany....just rush whomever you dont like in first on the second ogre fight...that person will die leaving the other to live....

i can see also bioware issuing a patch as soon as this comes out to fix many gripes that people are having....

Alright, downloaded it PC, played through, and my thoughts are that the combat seems way more improved, graphics obviously improved, and it ran smooth as butta on my dual core, GTX 460, 4GB ram system with direct X11 enabled and everything set as high as it would go. In fact it seemed to run better than DAO when maxed out. Very impressed, the first one got a little boring for me, but this one seems a little more action packed and interesting.

Well, the combat seems to be as advertised: faster and flashier than in Origins, but still in the core pretty similar. The new darkspawn and UI design doesn't offend the eye nearly as much as i imagined either. Still there seem to be a lack of emotion in the scenes and voice acting, if it'll be like that troughout the game, it may be a problem.

BTW, i can engage DX11 from the launcher options, but it seems it doesn't work as it causes severe stuttering and graphical artifacts. Or maybe my PC just sucks?

I'll try the PS3 demo too once it comes available, but this seems like a PC game to me ;)

The first thing that bugged me is having to right-click to attack, that just goes against everything pc games have taught me.

What.

Maybe its just me, but in all the pc rpgs I used to play I would have the right mouse control camera and left mouse do all the interaction, be it attach or looting or what have you. I might have set the controls that way myself, so maybe its my fault, but the option for me to have it that way would be nice just the same. Threw me for a bit of a loop, sorry.

On another topic, I agree with those saying the ladies breasts are rather large, it just seems...awkward. But I thought the same thing in Origins as well. Additionally, while the new Flemeth design is sweet, it does seem odd to have her in that get up given the character. Kate Mulgrew all the way though, loved the voice work for Flemeth.

I enjoyed the demo and I loved how cool all the powers/magic made me feel. I really enjoyed how truly different each class feels.

Some issues/complaints from the demo (the Xbox version):

1) Healing takes too long to refill (both potions and healing magic) - this is bad since the combat is a lot more fast and furious and the slowness of the magic/talents refills drag everything down.

2) Lots of bugs in the demo --> Carver fighting with an invisible sword, etc..

3) I have a SDTV and could hardly read anything, but I learned my lesson from 'Dead Rising' and 'Mass Effect 2' so I saved up some money to buy a small HDTV before Dragon Age 2 comes out. (Still sucks though.)

4) When Flemeth spoke, sometimes she would be speaking and then you hear her voice underlying and saying something different...like...you hear two of her speaking at once sometimes.

5) Sorry, but the companion AI isn't working well at all. I made Bethany my healer and set her tactics to heal when anyone's health goes below 25% and she wouldn't heal at all, even when two of my companions were close to death. Also, sometimes the companions would just stare into space until a darkspawn whacked them in the back or something.

Otherwise, the demo has erased most of the doubts I had about this game. Good show, Bioware. Image IPB

Totally agree about the healing cooling down time way to long :(

Can't get the demo to work for me :crying: when I download from the site, it ends early and I get that blasted NSIS error :pinched: then I tried this:

clicking
the eng version download button on biowares page caped my dl to 4.1mbit
the 6 times i had to download it just to get the nsis error.
but after i copied the dl url:
i got 9.1 mbit dl speed and after a few (5) tries getting nsis error i switched "cdn=L" to "cdn=H" and i was able to install it.

yeah
i dont know if switching the L to H or copy/paste the url was the
reason for it to download faster or for it to not get the nsis error..
but since it did work i recommend you try
it.

OMG THE COPY/PASTE WORKED!!!!! I tried the L to H first and
it didn't work, but the Copy/Paste did!! [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie]

So I was able to do the extract download thing and I got to the play button. When I click it, I get this: "This Application has failed to start because d3dx9_43.dll was not found. Re-Installing the Application may fix this problem."

:crying: blasted PC...

Xbox 360 Review

Graphically:

The textures on the earth was the only thing to truely annoy me, aside from Marian's surreal blue eyes. I'd say that as a whole they are vastly improved from the original. I like. ++

Gameplay: The seem to have catered to me tremendously in this department. All of the classes, and even different weapon styles within these classes have their own feel. Particularly, the revamps to the Rogue, Archer, and Mage, classes are spectacular. I definitely thank the maker, or makers in this case that they included options to turn off persistant gore, helmets, and through in different cutscenes/dialogue for each class. Oh, and halleluyah for no disco ball affects from buffs during conversations. My one real complaint in this is, particularly in escaping lothering, if you walk.. your character seems to stutter and wobble back and forth, what's up with this..? I think its the grain or something on the earth and your avatar trying to find level ground. Leveling up is beautifully done though and really, each skill makes your character play different. I love it. +++

Technically:

There's a few frame rate drops, particularly when Flemeth is roasting all the darkspawn and when Bethany puts the firewall up or her or the PC flameballs the approaching spawn. Also, the rogue's Kirkwall armor, (Aside from not being the best looking gear) clips pretty badly in the shoulders when there's any arm movement in the cutscenes. Also, sometimes the way the early scenes cut in and out of cinematics and combat is often frustrating, I get that it's supposed to be a more cinematic part of the game (Epicish) but... well. Here's hoping that the whole game isn't like that.

Wants:

Looking forward to hopefully better looking armor, I know modders can fix that, but I mean for Xbox. Specifically, ones that treat Lady Hawke's figure differently than Male Hawke, I'm not saying one's that have lots of skin showing, even if I wouldn't dismiss the option, but what I'm saying is how from the armors we've seen, aside from a hump for your breasts, the armor is exactly the same. Here's hoping for atleast some gender specific wear. Also... Here's for wanting to not be called a kiddie because this game appeals to me, can I not like progression when I see it, and not automatically be grouped with the immature..? Thanks.

Overall:

I'm tremendously psyched for this game. I so... so want it to be the 8th already and Spring break comes right after it..!!! *Squee* ++++

My understanding is that whoever dies is for party balance purposes?

Just played through as rogue archer--seriously overpowered!  Maybe I should keep quiet about that but I'm sure others have noticed it also.

I liked it. It's hard to judge from just the little snippet but there was a mass of potential.

-Visuals-

. The visuals even on medium are actually really nice, love the style.

. Saw a fair bit of tearing though on DX9

. I'm still not sure on the new Darkspawn. The old one's looked more menacing and unique to my mind, same with the Ogre's. Ogre's head looks smashed in and the Hurlock's look like Skeletor. I do miss the old ones. Especially the old Alpha's.

. Avelaine's hair needs a little tweak, it looks flat out yellow at times :?

. Isabella is nice visually :D Like the actual character too of course.

. Isabella's daggers floated off her back quite a bit.

. Hope to see more green in the full thing.

-Gameplay-

I liked it. More fluid, more brutal and satisfying, just as many options really. Good stuff. Some sweet moves too. Love the crossbow dude.

I was impressed. I liked it a lot for the most part. No doubt anything Bioware fail to meet my own personal standards on will be modded on PC so I'm not concerned. Looking good:)
