It seemed to me it was better to keep your mage alive on the second ogre, that way you could keep your distance and wittle away at him.

I loved the demo! I read a bunch of the threads, while I was waiting for it to download, and I was expecting bad things. Boy was I wrong. The improved combat system is incredibly fun. The skill tree system is very well designed. Aside from being unable to play the demo with Dx11, it ran flawlessly. It was capped to medium graphics settings, but I was running smoothly with 8x AA.

My only concern is "click movement." I didn't notice if there is a way to disable it, but I sure hope so. It's a little difficult to target moving enemies, so right clicking would send me moving all over the place.

After playing through DA:O, I wasn't sure I would buy this one.. But the massive change to the playstyle has won me over. Great work guys! Keep up the good work.

As an additional note, Bioware, thanks for toning down some of the more cumbersome aspects of "hardcore" RPGism. I know this pissed off a few vocal members of the community, but the gentler learning curve and faster pace allowed me to really get into it. Like I said before, I barely touched Origins because I couldn't stand the gameplay.

So yeah, I'm one of those hack-and-slash morons that everyone else is b*tching about. And you know what? Even if I liked Origins, I'd still be glad you overhauled it, because if it had played exactly the same as its predecessor, then it would have been nothing more than an expensive expansion pack.

Hilarious how pretty much everyone who is playing the PC demo is hating on it, and it's the exact opposite for the consoles. Pat yourself on the back Bioware, you've done what you set out to do.

I've gotta say Bioware, you didn't let me down with this demo. The one and only... let's see, what's a good word here... "grievance", is the animation for "Winter's Grasp". I preferred it in more in Origins. Other than that, keep up the good work.

I had great fun with this game. So far have played Mage and Rogue and both play quite well. Mage seems a bit easier to play which is a twist for these types of games, as it seems with rogue you almost always have something you could be doing.

The pace of the battles actually have not changed much for me, personally, at all, or at least anything truly recognizable. Animations look good, graphics look solid and ran very stable in DX11 on my PC.

The full version looks like it is going to be a lot of fun.

Fhawk voice wasn't bad, true, I won't miss it if it was removed, compleatly.

Fhawk sister dies and she didn't drop a tear.. how long did she know her sister? I thought they grew up together!!!... creepy.

Now my problem is the eyes.. what the heck happens to Ferelden people eyes? why the eyes have to be so big, freaky and creepy? Isabella made me shiver every time I look at her face, and casandra got me screaming the moment she hit the light and I saw her eyes! woah that was scarry!

I hope the demo is very very very OLD and this little (HUGE) things are a thing of the pass... right?

The rest of the demo was meh and I want to thank you BioWare for the chance to try it out for free, it was much appreciated.

ok....I cannot see how people are saying the Ogre battle was hard (someone said they tried it many many times), it was a LOT easier than the Ogre battle in Origins...just saying

now....onto the demo itself

plays pretty much like Origins (which is a plus), the new Art Style is VERY well done on the character models. The convo wheel does what it's supposed to do and voice acting, like in all Bioware games, is great.

Still.....I have to say that the way everything was locked was a major letdown (come on.....no CC?).

All in all......I am now very much convinced I will love DA2 as much as I loved Origins (now if only I could get NG+ that would be perfect)

I really wish that I could have tried out the CCC in the demo. It appears that all the combos I want either require someone to be 8th level, or (when I finally got to the Isabella story) were unreachable because of a suboptimal build on me.

Other than that, the console version looks and plays much better than the console version of DA:O. No comments on PC version.

It's funnier how people are still hung up on the PC vs console split. I've got a gaming PC, gaming laptop, all three current gen consoles, all the previous gen consoles, pretty much every Nintendo handheld, and a PSP. Oh, and there's still an NES, SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast, and N64 floating around here somewhere.

I enjoy both the more 'hardcore' RPGs and the ones that are less so. I've never understood how people can be so stringent in what they play. That would leave me missing out on some really good games. And I've understood even less how someone playing/liking console games had any bearing on their intelligence or gaming skill at all. Or how playing on PC made you smarter.

This community sometimes.

The only thing I had a problem with was the tactical camera. It didn't zoom out enough for tactical planning and pausing. I couldn't see far enough, especially seeming it was on a diagonal.

It was really hard to use area of effect spells, because you couldn't target a person and had to find a space on the ground in between enemies.

Also, a little nitpick, your character seems to be really stuck to the ground, and moves with the angles of the ground when you walk. It's really off-putting :/

Isn't the demo the same we could see at the E3/... and all ? :? months, months ago...

I'm sure we'll all love the DA 2 edition of BioWare's Role Playing Games for Dummies.

Ok. BioWare, this is the final insult a player can give you when talking about your game. Even it if was not intentional.

Downloaded and played the Demo on PC. Finished a run with all 3 base classes. Tried out both male and female Hawke as well.

Got to say loved every minute of it. The brief taste of combat you get in DA2 is so much more fluid and compelling than the experience in Origins, and I'm sure come release with a difficulty slider available it will be even more fun.

About the only thing I didn't like as much in DA2 was the music. The Ogre battle music in particular was nowhere near as catchy, impressive, striking or memorable as the Ogre theme in the Original Dragon Age. Still, that's just a minor complaint I'm sure Bioware did a terrific job with the audio and music as a whole as they always do.

I was also a little let down not being able to at least take a peek at the inventory screen, if just to see why Aveline has such ludicrously high DPS, hehe.

Loved the combat, loved the detail available on the tooltips (especially when compared how utterly vague they were in the Original DA), loved the way you could customize your character builds as well. My favorite part of the demo was definitely when I tried out "Legendary" 2-hand wielding Warrior Hawke.Mind=blown. Warriors in general are my least favorite archetype in Fantasy RPGs. Such smooth, hard hitting, exciting combat, sure beats the old system. Still I think come release I'll be giving a Melee rogue a go first, followed by a Mage.

Great job, can't wait for March 8th and any reservations I may have had for pre-purchasing my Signiture edition copy way back when have been put well to rest. Hope the game does really well and we get expacs and tons of well made DLC. :D

I noticed the pathing can get confused sometimes if its hard to get to an enemy. Especially if you are spamming the attack closest target key.

These are the impressions I got from playing through the demo (as a sword and shield warrior)

- I like the "new" combat style. I say "new" because it feels an awful lot like DAO, on PC

- The references to Origins were nice. Keep them coming

- The friendship/rival system looks cool. I laughed at Varic's

- The escape from Lothering is well done imo. I really got the impressiont hat they were scared for their lives

- The new art style fits. Darkspawn are darkspawn. Flemeth is still Flemeth. I also think we have a much better idea of how she exactly saved your Warden in DAO

- Voiced Hawke is cool. The middle options are my favorite. The middle path is the fun way.

- Walking animations are lulzy. not sure if thats good or bad

Overall, the demo was fun and I am looking forward to March 8th.

Did you download it through steam, or the bioware site? Cause I got it through steam and was able to enable DX11, and set to High.  I think when you you start the demo, and get to the screen that says play, configure, website, ect...   you have to go to configure, and it will scan your system, then DX11 will be available, Im not talking about the in game options, but the initial screen before you start the game. Hope this helps ya.

Awesome. Combat, voice acting, and music are all great. I love how the exaggerated combat in the beginning gave me a good feel for the skill tree. Also, I like how the beginning of the game focuses some attention on how wide spread the affect of Logain's action's at Ostagar were. Experiencing the effects of Lothering's fall feels like a good transition between Origin's and this game.

Two questions:

1) I know this one was asked before, but will we have auto level up in the full game?

2) I see an option in the interface menu that says "Always show main interface". Does this mean we have the option to toggle the interface off when not in combat? I'm a big fan of minimal interfaces.

Yes, you can get rid of the interface. I don't know what I hit, but it happened to me by accident and suddenly I'm in the game with no hud. But it came back. I think I was playing the demo. 360. Weird.

Miranda and Jack were both made to be very attractive, but at least they didn't have ridiculous "teenage boys love this!" huge knockers.

Wait, what? Did you ever take a good look at Miranda when she turned around in her a-little-bit-too-tight-suit?

Miranda had a big booty but was nowhere near as ridiculously top-heavy as Isabela.  Isabela literally looks like she has breast implants.  Bad ones.

I really enjoyed the demo, and it is a demo a few people seem to think Bioware have released a full version with regards to some of the issues like Flemeth's line being cut short. I always play as a mage to start off with, I felt it was the most fun to be on DA:O the other classes are too alike in Origins and the archery was very ropey in my opinion. I haven't played as the other classes yet but it would seem judging from other peoples posts that the rouge/warrior issue and the archery have improved to some extent however back to being a mage, It was tough at the low levels in some parts like the Ogre but I managed to get through the demo without any party members falling (a lot of close calls though) but I think we see at the very start when Hawke's escape is exaggerated just how fun a high level mage is going to be, I like the new animations used for the auto/standard attack are instead of the prodding motion in Origins, I don't have an issue with the character of Hawke as in Origins I felt more for the party members than my mute Warden, I think having a voice while still being able to dictate the look and and attitude of Hawke will make me connect with the protagonist a lot more. As for the party members so far I think I need more time to compare them with the likes of Sten and Ogrhen. While the graphics have improved I'm still not that impressed with them but as I mentioned earlier it's just a demo and the gameplay more than makes up for it. Oh and I'm loving all the free shizzle Bioware are giving on the signature edition etc, all the stuff will certainly come in handy for my low level characters when the came comes out. Roll on March 11th so I cant start ripping things up with my mage.
