post download issues. installation of the demo was problematic as it for one needed directx 11 to be installed which when it did so from the demo caused all manner of errors and missing files it needs to run. Bypassed this by one updateing graphics drivers and then looking for the microsoft download to update directx rather than use the one that came with the demo as that caused me all manner of headaches.
Demo crashed a number of times but mainly at loading screens. especially after the forced appearance screen you see after the first battle you fight.
Games wise it seems much faster than Origins, skills seem simplier than origins but certainly feel more OOmph when you hit the darkspawn with your powers in the demo. Targetting is still a little annoying as you can accidently whilst fighting something run off to go hit something else
Story seems engaging but a little worried how often I see loading in the bottom corner of the screen as I progressed through the demo. Hopefully this better in the final release else its gonna feel very stop start stop start playing this and much less seemless than Origins
UI seems fairly inituitive.
Overall it looks good, I wouldn't go so far as to say it is great, but I will say two weeks to wait is gonna feel like a seriously long time to wait to play the full thing and follow the story proper.
Was happy to see recurring characters with the original voice actor/actress. Kudos there

Combat – Same as original really. As fast or as slow as you want it to be. Can play more action style or classic RPG tactical style
Cinematics – Great as always
Story – Great as always
Menus and accompanying interface – Much improved
Skill Trees – Much improved
Dialogue Wheel/Voiced Protagonist – Much better than a grocery list of unspoken, unimpactful words.
Archery – Much improved
Rogues – Much more interesting and improved
New Arts Style – Anyone who says it's Anime has no clue what Anime is. There are no huge eyes, missing, or minimal noses, no streaming color action backgrounds. None of the things which make Anime what it is are present. It's a more interesting, more visually appealing style. DA:O was good, this is better and it's a shame it wasn't present in the first one.
Mehs____________________________
DX11 – Unsupported for the demo, sucked. On the up side, at least I know it looks good on DX9.
Ogre Fight – Maybe it was just me, but I think I dropped a dragon or two in Origins faster than that second ogre. I put down Hayder and crew much, much faster.
No Tactical Camera – This one hurts more than anything. It's sooo hard to not have a full battlefield view. I understand the reasoning and I'll get used to it, but it's gonna take time and a lot of swearing.
Release Date – Two weeks is gonna feel like two years, I'm in Dragon Age mode, I'm ready to save the world.

The running.
When in combat its great! Fast, Cool and unexpected. But when the combat is over and you are just generally running it looks weird... O__e;
I mean really? Who actually runs like that? lol the women running was the worst, the guys a slight improvement but still didnt look right.
Also the dialog choices,
I had no Idea what was the best option?(Im usually the good guy) I mean I understand whats -Good , -Bad or -Funny but the others, such as the crossed over one? I havent the foggyest Idea what the symbols mean, I could be saying something and end up insulting someone by mistake..
and It had very little the same feel as DA:O more Mass Effect :/

and the dialog wheel seems quite awkward for me because I hardly find any difference for choosing different attitudes except the NPCs' reactions. I personally do not want to see the dialog acts the same as mass effect. as for VAs, I am quite disappointed by Bethany, her voice is ....goofy.
also, I hope this time the nightmare is really a nightmare, because I plan to play this game for quite a while. and final words, release a toolset for DA2, please !!!

after seeing the gameplay options with the 'pause at the start of combat option' and the ally/rival bar on the companion screen wwith the option to control the other companions as well as the fully animated cutscenes and dialogue wheel(with what looks to have pseudo paragon/renegade options) make this game seem like a good mix of KOTOR and mass effect(moreso than the last game which was mostly KOTOR)
i kinda like how the thing starts off with your character fighting like an unkillable bad**** (literally) to let you get a feel for the controls and allow you to start figuring out your play style(no matter how bad you are)
although the combat can get a little...finiky(i think thats the word) due to the fact that you gotta aim your mouse cursor onto an enemy that doesnt want to hold still if you even want to start fighting it.
and if you miss and rightclick the ground you end up running past the pale monster growling at you and walk off to where you clicked leaving your back exposed when you stop
maybe i need to scroll in for a bigger target or something. i dunno
i also find it interesting how one of your companions is actually your sister. you don't see too many family companions in these kinds of games that don't get killed off within the hour(which still seems to happen not too long into the game with a certain other family member[it's not really spoilers if it's obvious])
i had some audio synch problems at the start which cleared up as soon as you first see your character
overall i enjoyed the demo for what it's worth and i'm hoping the full game will impress me as well
also REMEMBER TO DOWNLOAD THE PC DEMO SO WE CAN GET SOME EXTRA STUFF (even if you're going console, give us a hand)
one final thing regarding the appearance of Flemith in the game
do you think she's gonna be any big part of the game? considering (SOMEWHAT SPOILERS FOR D.A.O.) i jammed my sword in her head repeatedly(END SPOILERS) or do you think the whole story the dwarf is telling is a prequel?

The rogue - my favorite RPG class of all time - finally feels like a powerful and unique individual class instead of some necessary party fixture that does occasional damage and is really only needed to deal with traps and locks. I can admit that I was completely blown away by the improvements, most specifically with the bows. I'm a "dagger to the back of the neck" kind of girl, but the bows already have me rethinking my strategies completely. Bravo, BioWare.
I was less impressed by the mages and warriors. I'm buying the game on PC, so I didn't pay too much specific attention to combat because I'm sure the feel of it is a bit different. Still, considering some of the feedback I remember reading about Origins on xbox, I'd say DA2 has come together rather nicely in that regard. It was disappointing to have inventory and skills locked - at least descriptions would have been nice.
The cutscenes themselves were choppy as they started, and in one case, the whole cutscene skipped altogether (playing a male Hawke warrior, the scene where Flemeth swoops in and transforms, skipped straight from the cut out of the battle to Hawke and Flemeth talking). There was an occasional slowdown in combat, where the commands were either delayed or the game would behave like I wasn't close enough to use a skill even though I was right on top of the enemy (so Hawke would just stand there twitching uselessly), and sometimes the closers wouldn't trigger and I'd have to trot over to the enemy before attacking normally. Considering it's a demo, however, it generally felt rather smooth and, as I said, has made me even more eager for March 8th.
Oh, and really...Isabela's breasts are terrifying.

Hi everyone
The Dragon Age 2 demo is now available on Xbox Live (Gold accounts) and will be up today for PC and Playstation 3.
I am seeing lots of threads with "my demo feedback/impressions/thoughts, etc". Rather than have multiple threads pop up all over the place, this thread is for everyone to post their impressions.
Please say whether you are playing the PC, Xbox 360 or PS3 version and let us know your thoughts about the demo. Both positive and negative feedback is fine (as long as it is constructive. Saying "I didn't like X in the demo and this is why, is fine. Saying "it sucks" is not very helpful. You get the idea).
So please, let us know what you think of the Dragon Age 2 Demo.
Hopefully, maybe one person in the bioware company will be reading this feedback....
Problems
-textures of lothering were horrendous i mean down right discusting compared to the other game
-I understand its just a demo and not the full game but i do not understand why you restrited inventory ?
-really the only problem i have with the game is that the textures were of ****** poor quality and i know u can do better bioware.

Anyway, the demo. Was just okay. I wish it was better and lived up to my expectations, but I guess that's it, I guess. The graphics are bland and underwhelming, and so is the linear level design with hardly any exploration to be had. Does everywhere need to look like a barren wasteland,? The voice acting is a bit lifeless, too, and even though I like the voices (at least I like male Hawke) you could have used someone who puts a little emotion in his voice. The animations are a little stiff and awkward in battle, but after a while I don't really mind. It's the facial animations in cutscenes that get me. Did I really see Cassandra's eyebrows slide into position in a show of concern? And those eyes that don't really appear to be looking at your target as much as look above their head. That was a concern in DA:O, but I would have hoped you guys got a little better at it.
Combat is quicker, which I like, but the dashing into position is a little jarring, as I frequently lost my character in the midst of the enemies. I suppose turning on character circle icons would help, but it seems you guys took the faster motif and ran with it, literally. The controls on the 360 were a little bit confusing as it seemed having to hold down the triggers each time to activate abilities in the midst of combat was a little cumbersome. Also, switching back and forth between characters using the shoulder buttons would be less cumbersome if you didn't have to hold down the pause button by default.
Other than those things, I liked the demo alright. It was okay. Some of the stuff was bland and uninteresting, like the level design, character voices (and some characters - don't like Aveline), and the graphics. Combat was good, if a bit cumbersome, so I think I would much prefer the PC version. Overall, I would stick with my preorder, but I have to admit this was not all it was cracked up to be.

-Love having a voiced character.
-Liked the idea that one sibling was more rivalry than friend.
-Love the new art direction.
-Skills are awesome!
-The new quickheal/stam/mana is a good idea.
-Kept all the leveling/tactics stuff I loved.
Could be improved:
-As in Origins, sometimes custsenes were triggered mid combat speech. For example, Hawke is still saying "Go Down" and you can hear attack noises, then you stroll on to screen for the cinematic.
-I would love a breast-size slider added. I get a sore back just watching my poor Hawke carry those things around.
-Eye colour on some NPC's is a little creeepy, but this is such a minor concern. I only mention it to agree with others that have bought it up.
TL;DR: So far I love it. I'm sure I will enjoy it even more than DA:O and I think a wider variety of players will enjoy it.

It was similar to karate being injected into a European-Medieval style game. Lol... I wonder if 12th century rouges could do some of those moves. Lol...The Elite Elite wrote...
However, what was with all the silly moves the PC does during the attacks?

The good:
I see graphical improvements. Flemeth looks and sounds awesome. Absolutely love the style of the 2D art. Voice acting is top notch. Talent trees are for the most part more interesting with the new upgrade options.
The bad:
Don't like the frantic combat. It doesn't look like fighting. It looks like the characters are smashing piñatas in an uncontrollable rage. All attacks and animations are so over the top the visual representation lacks dynamics - you can't tell what's cool or special anymore because everything tries to be, all the time.
The closing attack teleports and supernatural Warrior and Rogue talents are cartoony which unfortunately further shifts the game away from dark fantasy and into comic book fantasy. I would actually suffer the shuffling of Origins over these new comic book heroes. Don't like the new Darkspawn look, they are more comical than scary.
Mages spam so much magic it quickly becomes annoying to watch. They twitch and spin around for no apparent reason other than trying to be ultra cool, which backfires miserably. Standard magic attacks sound really dinky. Fireball looks and sounds weaker than in Origins and Firestorm is a lackluster sight compared to Inferno. Arcane Shield visuals also look cheaper and more obscuring than in Origins. Mage robes still look bad but luckily there are other kinds of outfits for them.
Overall, the combat just looks and feels like a mess with a heavy cartoon vibe. I'm not saying it can't be fun or even tactical but these characters aren't real enough to invoke any kind of emotion from me - a requirement for an immersive story. It doesn't help that no one ever dies in combat.
GUI art and character/inventory screens still look more like placeholders. Definitely a step down from Origins.
I've tried to like DA2 but I just don't agree with the cartoony direction the DA universe is taking.

Some things I don't like about the demo:
1.Warriors/rogues not automatically running to the enemy. Maybe I'm just used to Origins, but I don't like manually
having to move my character.
2.Hawke saying, "another wave approaching".
3.The extra staff attack where the animation takes longer. I know it does more damage so the dps is the same as a normal attack, but I still don't like it.
4. The leveling. I like the layout of spells/talents more in Origins.
5. Sustained spells/talents taking away a percentage of mana/stanima, not an amount. I feel like this will make me less likely to put points in willpower as it will not be as useful. Why would a sustained spell take more mana to cost for an accomplished mage rather than an apprentice?
6. The cooldown time on potions. I found myself running around the ogre and using its charge attack against its own darkspawn companions while I waited to down another potion.
Hope I helped a little. It's hard to judge the game from just the demo. If the demo is exactly like the full game I will like it less than DA:O, but I know you'll make some changes for the better.

IMO the better flow of combat is a huge improvement over Origins.
The demo has resolved all my doubts regarding the gameplay mechanics.
Let the 11th come quickly.

With all the interface changes, the Origins cursors are jarring. Will there be a different cursor in the final release that more closely ties to the DA2 style?
