Dragon Age 2 Demo feedback thread

Anyway, I absolutely hated
- the cutscene interruptions during combat. It was always a 1-2s hiccup, and it went from combat to some cutscene. Annoying.
-Low-res textures
-NPC running animations, it looks like they are hovering
The good:
-Fast paced combat
Overall, not bad, but nothing special either.

That's due to the sustained ability she has on. If you deactivate it or play as a s & s Hawke, they swing the sword around much like they did in Origins.
Ahh, I see. Well we can scratch that one off my list then. When I ran through as a warrior I used the two-hander and didn't switch to s&b and didn't notice she had a sustained ability turned on.

5. Flemeth
Who is her plastic surgeon? I might need their number in about 30 years so I can go from looking like a 50-60 year old to looking like a 30 year old. It's not that I don't like her new look, I do, it's just that it's odd having her voice come out of a woman who looks no older than 35 if you ignore the hair color. I'll get used to it, I'm sure, it's just odd.
I just chalk it up to Flemeth being the most powerful mage in the Dragon Age universe. Surely she knows a spell or two to keep her perky.

1.) Like Dragon Age: Origins, a sustained spell visible to the player playing Hawke would be good. When I activated sustained spells, I had no idea if they were attributing to Hawke unless I checked the caster of the sustained spells to see it was active.
2) After meeting and having a conversation with Wesley, I found no audible dialog that came from Wesley along with his text when out of the conversation. Clicking on him had written text appear but no audible voice (maybe it was just my Xbox, I don't know.
Otherwise, loved the game Bioware!

That and the fact that she isn't human might have somethign to do with it.

The new level up and ability screens are great too.
The only bad comment I have about the demo is the cut scene before the Izzy quest. It feels like a 'previously on' like you get when watching a TV show. Quite choppy and looks really out of place. However, I know that it wont be like that in the full game so it's just a bad point in the demo. Since thats my only issue I imagine the full game will be perfect.
Good job BioWare
So glad I preordered the SE.

It's fast paced, still tactical (I am playing on the PC btw) and it looks awesome.
I had fun with the rogue and the two-handed warrior is definitely what I am going to roll as.
Buuut..there were some bad slowdowns during cutscenes in the presence of heavy particle effects (the Flemeth going through fire part especially).
I hope those aren't going to be in the full game.

Visually the characters and cutscenes looked great. And I'm sure once we are able to get into different areas the backgrounds will seem more vibrant.
I enjoyed the demo very much. As I put it, it was "drool" worthy.
Cannot wait for the ful game.

Heck, the game in itself feels way too.. "light", if you compare it to DA:O where the gameplay felt "heavy".
Despite these flaws, I loved the demo, and I actually stopped playing when you got to Kirkwall because I didn't want to spoil it too much.
Day 1 buy for me.
Great job, BW!

Why was the decision made that we would have to constantly bash the A button (yes, I'm playing on a 360) to perform our basic attack? Was something wrong with how it worked in DA:O where it seemed to be a toggle?
Is there someone at BioWare with a fetish for constantly mashing buttons and wearing their fingers and thumbs into bloody stubs?
Also, sorry, about my thread. Your pathetic forum search didn't show up this thread when I was searching and I'm too blind to see the stickies.

1. The Talents take far to long to re-charge IMO. I'm guessing it's to make the player do more active buttonpushing combat but for me who likes to pause the game and give orders all the time it forces me to hack'n slash wile waiting. It will probobly get better later when you got more abilitys. Maybe it's thye fast pace that makes the re-charging feel to long.
2. Bathany always miss with the fireball. She aims where the enemys are but when the fireball hits they are no where near it. I don't know if it's the same with alla Area attacks but I'm guessing it is. This makes thoes attacks useless unless the enemys are just standing still.
3. Companions change target to often. I give order to Varric and Bethany to attack 2 archers in the back wile Aveline and I took care of the gues with swords but they just turned around and attacks the guys with sword. They did this all the time when ever I gave them an order they just made one shot then retargeted to a new target.
Will there be any way in the final game to make them attack 1 target and not switch untill that one is dead?
4. The prologue part (Escape from Lothering) is way to short. I had really hoped for it to be about as long as an Origin in Origins. But I guess you wanted the player to get to Kirkwall as fast as possible. It's no big deal, just a side note.
Anyway, exept for that I really loved the demo. The graphics was great and it was fun to play. I can't wait for the final game.
Just some questions:
1) If I got things right, the prologue took place south of Lothering between Southron Hills and the Imperial Highway. Did I get that right?
2) Was Hawke, Carver, Bethany and Aveline at Ostagar or just Carver and Aveline?
3) What are the 3 long snakes on the titlescreen? Or are they supose to be Dragon heads without bodys?

The demo was amazing. Let me go into a little detail-
Combat- Ridiculously awesome. It felt frantic at all times. The abilities all felt different, looked different, and did different things, which I thought was refreshing. My Sword and Shielder will rock.
Music- I don't even have to touch on this because it was simply AMAZING.
Characters- Love them. I feel like I can latch on to them very well, so good job to those involved in their creation.
Overall, I loved it.

Thanks for the demo bioware. You saved me 40 pounds lmao. I feared the game would be like this I should never of preordered the sig edition but no matter it's cancelled now. The music is boring the voice acting is terrible and the animations are a joke. Disco Mage hawke ftw? I will wait till you guys make da3 with morrigan and the warden returning. Thanks.
Woooow.... that was a kick in the ballz of the devs,,,
Its feedback, even if it is a bit on the rude side, alot of people are not happy with the new direction and alot are happy, , most forums its split, but I do thank BioWare for releasing a demo, it was the right thing to do.

The timing on the potions seemed a bit lengthy, waiting for that cooldown. As was healing with my mage but this in turn had me alter my tactics. Instead of just tanking, there were points in that battle in which I had to run, keeping the darkspawn chasing me, letting my warrior just hold the ogre, while I waited for the cooldown. So although I couldn't just take the potion, it made me think, not just spam the attack button.
Also with the mages, I loved being able to customize what I wanted right from the start. In DA O I had to rely on one character as a healer. This time I have one at the start. Huge improvement, thankyou.
The interface was far more streamlined, user friendly. On the 360 version of DAO, it felt awkward, this time around it didn't.
The world feels more alive. I feel I have more control and the action is top notch. I hated just pressing A and occasionally using a skill or something. Not this time, now each skill seems to really shine and I will be paying attention from the start.
For me, you turned a game that I thought was great and made part 2 something I would call Epic. I can't wait for release. If I were to say something negative, it would be the cooldown timers. But then again if I am loosing health that fast, I would imagine its my playstyle that I am doing something wrong and my tactics need to be adjusted. Either way, it felt alive, felt fluid and it went beyond the "click A' spam, it does make me think and tactics are far more usuable now. The end result, you made digital crack for someone like me....let the addiction begin
Another thing, when we are attacking, just using our basic attack waiting on skills, it would be cool if those basic attacks had more to them. I don't mean with damage, just graphical effect. Some system to enhance the battle we are witnessing. Hard to explain I guess, I just want to see some variations even with the basic attacks.

100% this. Whoever decided that button mashing was a good idea needs to have their head examined.MetuulGuitarist7 wrote...
I really like the demo i liked everything about it EXCEPT that we need to mash the attack button repeatedly >.> It felt like i was playing a button masher instead of an RPG, so please include an auto-attack function on release![]()
