I really liked the demo so far except for one major thing: I can't access the isometric view (PC).

Is it because it has been removed from the actual game or is it just a demo issue?

If it has been removed from the game, than it is a huge downer for me. Currently, when I pan the camera out, it's not enough to get a clear view of the battlefield to properly aim spells. I felt like the isometric view was an incredible option in Origins and one of the reasons I enjoyed the game so much. It seems like a huge loss for Dragon Age 2 if it is, indeed, absent.

Also, the interface of the tactics menu doesn't seem to work properly.

I"m sorry... I can't get passed the darkspawn... they look utterly ridiculous.

I just chalk it up to Flemeth being the most powerful mage in the Dragon Age universe. Surely she knows a spell or two to keep her perky. Image IPB

I'm not above witchery if it'll make me look 30 years younger when I'm in my 50's. :P

So, I'm playing the demo right now.
Why was the decision made that we would have to constantly bash the A button (yes, I'm playing on a 360) to perform our basic attack? Was something wrong with how it worked in DA:O where it seemed to be a toggle?
Is there someone at BioWare with a fetish for constantly mashing buttons and wearing their fingers and thumbs into bloody stubs?

Also, sorry, about my thread. Your pathetic forum search didn't show up this thread when I was searching and I'm too blind to see the stickies.

I found myself doing this in the first on instinct,  sounds liket his will work well for me!

Good and addictive, just some framerate drops and occasional freezes on the Xbox, but I enjoyed it overall, and can't wait for the full game!

PC here.

Combat is much more action than tactics compared to DA:O.

I miss enemy health bars when pressing the Tab key.

I LOVE the demo overall. However I wasn't happy that the health potions have a recharge time. With combat that fast paced I need my potions. It didn't matter with my lady rogue as she was in and out of the mass of the fighting. My male warrior spent most of the time in the thick of battle and I had to waste shield bashes just to clear enough time for the potions to matter. Otherwise it was FREAKING GREAT!

Hydro,

The auto-attack toggle you can turn on in the full version for the consoles.

Played on Xbox 360.

Liked: Pretty much everything, the combat especially. Fixed all of the shuffling and lack of impact from Origins, while losing none of its strategic depth. Well, it lost a bit of subtlety, even after the exaggerated portion Darkspawn would still sometimes explode if you hit them hard enough. I don't really mind that though and it doesn't happen to the human enemies, so it's all good by me. Story and voice acting was top notch, especially from Aveline: "Not while I breathe!". :o

Disliked: Very little. Mainly demo-only problems. Felt weird looting weapons/armor and not being able to use them. Rushing through the meeting with Varric and Isabela was also a bit awkward. Also, the game seemed to freeze or lag for like a second during some of the Varric/Cassandra chats.

I got up three hours early so I could DL and play this demo before school. This was a wise decision. There's no way I could have lasted 8 hours of classes + a club meeting, before playing this demo. I loved it and I'm anticipating March 10th (when the game is scheduled to arrive at my house, March 8th and 9th will be excruciating) even more than before.

Great demo, I’ve just played a rogue so far and I had a blast. The only problem I had was the text, it is really small and since I rely on subtitles, it was a bit off-putting. Other than that, I have no complaints.

I dont like how you have to keep pressing the A button on the 360 for attacks, and the frame rate seems off.

If that is true, I am very happy. The demo is great so far :)

I am super, super impressed with the 360 controls on the demo. If I had some constructive criticism, it would have to be that I still feel like mages are the strongest / most powerful class by a wide margin (though I will concede that they are as squishy as is necessary)

That was funny, but now all I can do is picture the Archdemon in his moon based castle screeching how it's time
 to conquer Earth.  So..... Thanks!:D:lol:

I hate the fact that you made this game specifically for HDTVs. There are still some of us gamers who are playing it on an SDTV which makes the text really hard to read.

As I understand it you will be able to toggle it in the full game. This is atleast what some told me when I asked.

Yeah, I know. The search function (function, now theres a laugh) sucks.<_<

Just finished it! Woop, its awesome, few little things thought I didn't like... Healing poitions now have a timer on them thus making it harder, Its a little more button basher than Origins but it kind of works.

In the recent QA video Mike Laidlaw made a point and showed the Hawke walking and his followers walking too, but on the console version, in the demo atlest, it was the same as origins... really annoying!

Just little thing to moan about, but it was awesome, now I have to play it again, Willingly and also XBL cut out at the end so it didn't register as me completeing the demo LOL

Not a fan of the demo at all.

It feels like a big step back from DA:O for me which I really enjoyed.

Plus it runs HORRIBLY on DX11 and I have a rig that can max out Metro 2033 at 1080p.

Thank you for improving the combat.  In DAO combat just felt tedious, slow, and in many cases got hit with glitches (players getting hit even though they were not in range of attack, characters just standing around doing nothing, mages clinging to controlled character)

DA2 combat is impressively more responsive and fun.

PURLEEEEZE, BioWare! Do not make me smash the A button for 40hours... Will auto-attacking - like in Origins - be enabled for the full release?

Button bashing is all well and good, but being FORCED to jab A is not.
