Okay, so, I can't even get the game to run. I've run the installer like three times, and every time I try to start the game I get "The program can't start because d3dx9_43.dll is missing from your computer". Do I just have to suffer through another 5 hour download, or what?

download this and install it and your game will work. This happend to me too. No need to re download it or re install it.

www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx

No need to re-download. Just reboot the computer after the install.

I pray to god that Bioware come through on at least one thing and update the DA:O tool set. The mod making community can do wonders!

Wow I just got done with it and I was pretty damn impressed. The only thing I think needs fixing is the animation its too fast doesn't really look fluid. I'm sure its too late to fix it but thats just my opinion. I love the art direction and love the change to Flemmeth.

The only thing I dislike about the demo is the difficulty. I know it is set to normal but I cannot get past the part where you have to fight the ogre after Hawke's sister gets knocked out. I get it down to its last bit of health and by that time everyone else is knocked out and the darkspawn and the ogre swarm my character and kill me.

Use health potions (the red hearts on the right of the interface). Or use the healing spell. Use abilities in general. Move sorrounded and almost dead characters away from the danger zone. Use the pause button.

I do use the health potions and I do use the healing spell. When I do move any character away from the enemies some of the darkspawn continue to chase them. I just don't see why the difficulty is set to normal. I know it is a demo but it would have been nice if we could have changed the difficulty on it.

I think, like we all suspected, Dragon Age 2 is to Origins what Mass Effect 2 is to Mass Effect. In Mass Effect's case, I think Mass Effect 2, a more hybrid action/RPG, is a huge improvement over the original. I think ME2 is a great game and it's style fits well with that universe. However, I don't think Dragon Age 2 will be better then Origins. What they changed is a double edged sword, has some great things, but also takes away from the spirit of what made Origins great. I liked that Origins read like a book, and that's why I've played it ALL the way through from main game to witch hunt several times, with several characters. I don't think I'll be playing Dragon Age 2 through 12 times, like I have with Origins. I'm guessing around 3 total. It doesn't make it a bad game, but it also doesn't make it memorable. But that's just my impression from the Demo, which is a limited view. It's going to be a good game, but not on the level as Origins. That's my prediction.

I just checked out the demo and found a very odd thing: In spite of my system meeting (and in some areas exceeding) the recommended hardware, the High setting caused my frame rate to drop rather sharply. I had to bring it down to medium in order to experience it with a smooth frame rate at all.

Love the new art style though some of the things will still take some getting used to

The new mage combat is quite astounding, haven't checked out the other three yet but I feel confident that I don't need to. Very much looking forward to the release.

Just finished the PC version of the demo.

1) Graphics

Looking really nice. The new art style is a great improvement over Origins.

2) Combat

Like Origins, but way faster and more responsive. It great to see my warrior constantly swinging his 2h sword instead of the old, slow swing animations which felt like taking forever. New talent trees are great as well. It's nice to be able to pick the spell you want without taking 1-2 "fill ins" first.

3) Dialogue system

The wheel fits in perfectly. Icons in particular help a lot at uinderstanding what my character is trying to say. It really helps me roleplay a specific personality a lot easier then it was in Origins.

Cinematic aproach (thanks to a talking protagonist) makes for a much better atmosphere and the voice acting was on the level (love Isabela's and Lady Hawke's voices!).

4) Evironments

Blightlands looked good. Kirkwall (what we could see) looks amazing and is a huge step up from Denerim.

Score: 9/10

Loved I've seen so far and can't wait to play the game when it's out. Seems like DA2 is set to become a worthy successor to DA:O!

i loved the demo, played through it with all classes and both genders (on the 360). the only thing that bugged me was having to mash the A button every time you wanted to do a normal attack. I understand it helps it feel more fluid, but there should at least be an option that allows you to press A once and have your character continue attacking like in DA: Origins.

Bioware, you guys continue to amaze.

Honestly guys If I have any real feedback there are a couple of things.

#1. Not sure If I missed it but it doesn't seem you can see sustained abilities/buffs that are active on a character like you could with DA:O as it would have the buff icons above the health bar. This might not be too much of a issue early on but as the game progresses I could see trying to figure out what is active on who a bit of a pain.

#2. Ps3 load times. I don't know if its just that the engine you guys are using doesn't play nice with the Ps3 or what but... seems the load times are much more prevalent on the ps3 than the 360. Don' t know if this is something that was limited to the Ps3 demo build or what but I hope its not too much of an issue.

Those are the only two things that really stood out to me while playing the demos today. I'm really looking forward to March 8th! I'll be picking up both Ps3 and 360 versions on launch day! Looking forward to good things from the DLC guys!

Oh good, I'm not the only one then. My rogue Hawke alsways dies pretty quickly because she just won't drink the stupid potions. Aveline had to kill the ogre all by herself after Bethany went out, too.

I admit, I'm a casual player. I play for the story and the characters and the dialogue. Combat is just the icing and I don't want to pause and be strategic. I want to charge at the enemy and win. Unfortunately, that didn't work so well in the demo.

I really enjoyed the demo.  At first, I was thrown off by how ridiculously fast the combat was and then I remembered that the initial part was going to be "enhanced" by Varric.  Once I got into the real stuff I was pleased to see an evolution of the DAO gameplay.  Things were a lot faster, but at it's core I can still see the same system.

I also liked seeing weapons and armor that were very recognizable.  Some tweaks here and there to fit the new style, but overall it was definitely fitting in with the first game.  That can be said about the music too.  New music that feels like it's right at home with the original.

The nod about the Wardens really got me going since I knew exactly what was going to be said, and it was fun to see Flemeth acknowledge that she had other plans.  I'm a big sucker for hints at things to come like that.

Down side: That Hawke family has some smokin' foxes so now I have to choose if I want to see Bethany or if I want to play as a female Hawke.  Oh who am I kidding, that isn't a problem at all!

Just finished my first time on the demo and I'm very happy with it.

A few clipping issues here and there but mostly good.

I don't get the whole "its button mashing.

I pressed attack and it was auto just like last time just flashier and cooler looking.

Had to wait for cooldowns just like before too.

I also loved the voice acting. Femhawke felt a little off but I think I can get over that.

There were some parts where I was almost at tears (you know the ones.)

I understand this is the feedback thread and everyone has their opinion but I honestly believe some people just look for an excuse to hate the game because I saw great improvements from the first one.

DA:O holds a special place in my heart and nothing the devs can do can possibly change that.

I will always miss the origin stories but I'm long over that now.

I really liked what they did with the rogue class. A lot better than DAO. Now they dont seem like some half a** warrior. Now they have more use than just opening chests. Bravo!

Even though my crappy connection took almost 12 hours to download it, I was not disappointed. Played on PC and had no problems or crashes. No lag either. I'm not use to PC controls but it didn't take me long to get the hang of the new fighting style. Definately kept me on my toes. Love what I see so far, especially Varric and Isabela. Oh, and Lady Hawke's voice fits so well.

About to go through with a male Hawke...

This is a post I saw on Kotaku that I happen to agree with.

"What a step in the wrong direction.

Flat, hopelessly dull, characters. Terrible voice acting. Disjointed dialog completely devoid of wit or humor.

What's left of DA1's Lothering appears to have been lifted from a ditched Mass Effect 2 Martian landscape. A map so linear you'd swear it was a recent Squenix flop.

Battles are frenetic, but too busy to be meaningful, particularly those boss fights which have become a meaningless tactic-free hack-slash button-mashing affair.

Then you settle down in a lifeless town complete with suicidal color palette. Depression begins the instant you load it up... and it's not just because the world is so damn fugly: in fixing Dragon Age, they seem to have broken *everything*. "

You have screwed up yet another sequel and lost my faith, I will spend my money on a better company that knows how to make a game for their fans and not some tweens on XBOX 360 that only like an easy to understand story and simple gameplay.

You screwed up the sequel to one of my favorite games of all time (Mass Effect), and now you are doing it again.

I really hope BioWare goes under with the failure off The Old Republic so your games don't get ran into the ground any further.

Tip for the ogre, ignore it, run away allowing some of the darkspawn to follow you, run back to where you entered the game, take out those darkspawn, rinse and repeat never going near the ogre, use your health potions sparingly, at some point only the ogre will remain, run back to the beginning, your party will revive then you can all concentrate on the ogre, I've beaten it with all classes on each play through.

That is excatly why I play games too. I don't care about challenging myself to beat a game. I just want to experience the story and have fun. It is not fun to keep dying to the same enemy over and over again.

I know that. But if I play as a warrior, which is my intention, I'm going to play as a guy,and that means no Lady Hawke for my first run.

My only problem with the DA2 is a button that highlights the enemies health, or I just dont know that button is.

I only agree with half of this. The town's look BETTER than Dragon Age 1 but they feel more lifeless. The voice acting is worse, but the characters express more emotion when they talk. So it's like one step forward, two steps back.
