I like DA mainly because I can choose a female and the story is interesting. I can care less if the witcher's graphics look better. But for real all the witcher 2 did was make everything shiny and pretty and that seems to only be it's main focus. If not then stop comparing and give me other reasons why I should play it over DA2

In the witcher 2 can I play as a female or do I have to stay playing that sliver shiny head dude?

No I like to beat him up and maybe mess with him alittle.
Other then that he can drown in his own pool of shiny self-proclaimed awesomeness for all I care.

When I finished the PC demo, I only unlocked Hayder's Razor for PC and not for 360/PS3. This a bug or intended?
I think you have to play it for each version to unlock. I played on 360 and unlocked the 360 version. I'm about to play the PC version. Will tell you if it unlocks.

I stayed up late to download on the 360 and so far I love it. It looks promising. There were a few things I'm getting used to, specially the conversation wheel but overall the game looks great.
What did you think looked best the flat low-res textures, the cross eyed characters or the muddy brown rocks?

I'm not saying the demo itself sucks. I'm downloading it for my PS3. I started like 2 hours ago and I'm already near 60%. When I did the PC download, after 2 hours I was lucky to get 10%, probably and most likely due to the amount of people trying to download it at that time.
I don't see how people can hate the game. From what I've seen it's awesome, and when I play it I'll probably feel the same. Even if I do dislike the gameplay, I'll appreciate the story. And Varric. Varric is funny.

You can use health pots in battle. Just click on the little heart icon on your toolbar.

Graphically it won't win over Mass effect, and if the blood spewing of the first game was a tad overwhelming, I dismembered a hurlock within 50 seconds of gameplay (and was thinking, wait, are hurlocks ****** now? until the game threw its first swerve at me and showed my in a great lil' twist just why my character felt so overpowered, and promptly corrected that while cleverly showing how a high level character might play out). The greatest of looks are not essential anyway, what I wanted was for my pc to handle it and it does. If I have to play it in medium and rendering with directx 9, I will, but I think I'll go with the ps3 version, as the game actually seems more tailored for the consoles this time around.
That said, it flows, and combat seems to have kept all its good points, even if it IS streamlined. The controls are simpler (and, like I said, more tailored for the consoles on first impression), but it seems that mishmashing of skills will be an important part of the game. I went with rogue (and they seem to be going out of their way to make rogues cool) and was put off by the apparent lack of a "open lock" skill, but then it dawned on me that it might help the game. Leliana/Zevran were liabilities in battle, but I felt like having to carry them along in order to open chests. Now, rogues seem like a fighting force in their own right and it helps the game.
Character costumization exists, but it is locked. And in some ways yeah, it's medieval mass effect, but there's very little that mass effect does wrong, so, not a bad comparison there.
As for the story, colour me very intrigued. It starts and branches out DURING the events of the first game, and will very likely interweave. So, odds seem to be that whatever the grey warden did to stop the darkspawn will have some effect and be mentioned in the second game.

And... uh... the violence of Origins itself was a little bit much, but it just added to the style of the game. The violence of Dragon Age 2 however looks like a caricature of Origins (like completely dismembering a Hurlok with a Backstabbing-attack, or doing the same thing with up to five Hurloks using the scythe... come on, the 2 behind the title doesn't exactly need to be the factor with which the violence of Origins was multiplied, does it?)
