Bioware made great modifications to the way in which Dragon Age was originally conceived, they made it cater to console gamers (A good thing), they also made the action and that also good (Also a good thing).
The problem is to showcase their improvements, they made this demo. Which I'd say a demographic of PC gamers happened to see it as, "Bioware is selling out to consoles."
The elements which made their RPG's great were not showcased in this demo, which is much the concern and hence the bitter cynicism and critique from the loyal, and normal 'RPG' players.
Now we come to reality. The demo is not the game. It's a showcase of the new changes made to get players excited. That said however, I am not entirely reassured mind you.
There is a risk, and there in lies the problem. We are worried it will not be a RPG focused game. Bioware has a very loyal player base of die hard fans. We're worried that it will be a console game, which you play once, and you sell it back to the game store or that you never play it ever again.
This is compounded by a lack of toolset, which I suspect they will address in the coming months.
But all I can tell people is to have faith in the product of the game and that Bioware will deliver, as promised. The problem arises if you don't buy the game, and Bioware looks at the sales, they see a large increase in Xbox and PS/3 but a decrease in PC sales, and overall the increase is due to the hack and slash community being attracted to the game. (Which elements this one will have in it.) I just have to say that we can hope that our fears aren't realized and aren't true, and as it were wait till we see the finished product before we make a decision to be fair to them. However, that said Bioware likely will also have to make some large strides to be careful about this in the future renditions of Dragon Age so as not to alienate the core base of players.
That said, I do find it funny that most of the hecklers who aren't buying it don't have a registered icon of Dragon Age Origin or Awakenings. Personal amusement to me hehe, since they likely didn't purchase it to begin with.

Only question I have is: Does the item (Hayden's Razor I believe) just show up when you get the full retail version?
Because I completed the 360 and PC demo and got no notification of getting any item.
Click on profile - Registered game promotions, if you did it right, then it'll be listed there.

Dear gods man, where do you live? I got better speeds than that with a portable sat reciever in the middle of the Iraqi desert.

I have WiMAXX. I'm supposed to get 3-1Mbps. I can usually get 400 kbps from Steam. Today, no matter what I did, I've been stuck at 40-60kbps.

Did you try the torrent?
[Edit]
I guess that falls under "no matter what."
Run a speed test just for the hell of it. It might help you blame somebody.

Have you tried downloading the demo from other sites to see if there's something wrong with your connection?
Firewall up? Antivirus?

Any count on the number of times its been downloaded so far?
If you're asking about the 1 million player thing, it doesn't count overall downloads - only people who have signed into thier EA account while playing the demo. The tally is uploaded in real time on this webpage:
dragonage.bioware.com/da2/demo/
It's kind of fun watching the ticker go by.

I tried:
The official site
The torrent
Fileplanet
Akumai
Steam
I ran a speed test when I first noticed the problem: .66 Mbps D/L, 1 Mbps U/L. Yeah, I have no idea what's going on. My ISP is obviously just borked today.
No antivirus running. Firewall has an exception for utorrent.wulfsturm wrote...

Try calling your ISP, they may be having very high traffic demands in your area.

I don't know if you have tried this, get it from a torrent so you can pause, then disconnect your router for about 15 seconds then reconnect, sometimes when I get a bad connection this works for me, the only other thing I can think of is a bad line connection.Maria Caliban wrote...

Yep. Turned my router on and off. Turned my modem on and off. Connected my modem directly to my computer.DJBare wrote...

The only thing I can't think of is that there may be physical damage to the network somewhere, or maybe even at the ISP. Sorry, wish I knew.
Or try restarting your computer / and or throwing it out the closest window.
