I can get the first 100MB or so to download around 1.5 to 2.5MB/s, but then the speed drops drastically.

At this rate, I'll just download the Shogun 2 demo and play that while I wait for Dragone Age 2 demo to finish.  At least that's on Steam and gets a reliable speed.

Keep in mind, thsi is a 2GB file. Even with moirros, this will take some time to download.

Downloading right now at about 1/10th the speed I get when downloading Steam demos or from Blizzard's "torrent" style downloader .

Yeah but the speeds we are getting is horrific to say the least. Why the hell doesn't bioware use a torrent? For game demos its quite sensible. At the very least bioware's servers should have been at least semi-prepared for the load. The damn site went down 3 minutes after the demo went live, very unprofessional.

Putting it on steam would be a good idea too.

The german and french demos are mirrored everywhere, but english is nowhere to be found. Why no torrent? Pretty poor planning for this 1 million downloads thing when you dont provide a superior means of download.

I hope it goes up on Steam- I'm already practically done downloading the Shogun 2 demo (6GB) while the DA2 demo is barely cracking 100MB done. And they started at the same time.

Why 9am PST? Shouldn't it have been 0600 EST so that everyone could have it ready by the time they got off work? *sigh*

Same. <100 kB/s versus >2 MB/s. Going to have to go with Shogun 2 first.

the tool is only as good as its users. 

torrents arent more evil or less evil or even missused as other things in our society.

if bioware wanted 1 million download gief a torrent its done in a jiffy.

My GamersHell torrent is refusing to work at all, and my BioWare download is oscillating between 40 and 100 kB/s

I don't know what this shogun thing is about but I am tempted to go for that aswell.

Looks like all these "other sites" are just putting up the French and German demos. No sign of a mirror for the English version anywhere.

GamesHell seems to be the only one currently, and it went just as slow as EA for me.

Ah well, curent DL speed is an upgrade from the 23 hour estimate that firefox was giving me earlier.
