I think the EA account thing is going to be a huge pain in hitting 1mil

I played it on my Xbox 360 first and it automatically linked my EA account. Seems it already had my gamertag from Mass Effect 2. The problem is that PC owners downloading the demo aren't having good download speeds. Some are still stuck in 4 hours remaining or more. Once the download servers stabilize we will have our 1 million. I'm sure.

Mine has stopped at 500 MB twice now. I am very annoyed

1 million downloads in such a short time seems like an achievement even if they are NOT counting EA accounts. If they are requiring people to register to count the people that are only vaguely interested will not register. And are that not the people you want to reach through this action?

I would think with as slow as the download has been all day we would have more people downloading than a mere 305k.

I highly doubt they would not give out this DLC if the campaign failed. There's no way they announce it in such detail without knowing they're releasing it.

I think there was a similar marketing campaign for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and they failed to reach 1million views of the trailer within the deadline. To my knowledge, they did not get the reward that was advertised for the goal. I would not be so quick to assume we will still get goodies if we do not accomplish the task set before us.

I'd love to download, but I have a ****ty internet connection or something and can't get past 36% downloaded on my Xbox. *sigh* I guess I'll try again tomorrow...

correct i would wager that we might hit 700k buy the deadline a million is tall order according too http://www.vgchartz.com/   there have been 51mil xbox360's sold and 47.7mil ps3's sold and thier over While Microsoft's CES announcement that Xbox Live "is now an active community of over 20 million people" now you say we have real good chance based on numbers like that but keep in mind  atfer call of duty black ops landed i recount seeing 1.8mil people online playing it for such big game thats little low for number xboxlive people and hears the real kicker "To get your download counted, you will need to log into your EA account while playing the demo.".  so 1 million in a week when alot ppl had download issues whent to torrent sites  and arn't loging in to get counted so yeah  we might get them we might not only time will tell

I initially thought 1 million was chump change. But, you're right. The EA account thing might deter some/alot of people, if only because some people are weird about such things.

It's typically just a promotional thing. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit had a video that needed 1 million views by a certain date to get a couple free DLC cars. It only got to about 700k and they gave it out for free anyway.

At the current per minute pace it looks like it will taper off to about 850,000 downloads or so, assuming no sudden download waves from now to the first.

Sucks that the demo is not released for Xbox Silver members until after the 1 million downloads has to be achieved.



That right there might be the big reason we dont hit it.

The EA account thing and the limiting the demo on Live to gold member already destroyed any chance of hitting 500k let along 1 million.

Well the demo isn't even available to everyone yet. European PS3 players only get it later today, and non gold Xbox users only get it next week.

Only xbox GOLD members can download the demo until about a week from now when it releases on regular Live. Only 1/2 of those 20 million are Gold Live subscribers.



Steam on the other hand has almost 30 million users all with access to the demo! Common PC gamers!
