I've installed the latest drivers and directX stuff. HELP PLS.

I've had my pc download crash twice after character personalization screen: female rogue and female warrior. At least the female warrior started to load...

Yep, mine does the same no matter what class I choose.  I have tried running the demo in all settings including windowed mode and they all end the same.

Up-to-date directx, Windows 7 64bit, ATI Mobility 5870 with current drivers.

It does the same for me. I play through the exaggerated part just fine, but as soon as I try to start the actual game it crashes.

I'm on 64bit Windows 7 as well, it seems a consistent pattern.

Same, crashes right after the character personalization screen. Tried 3 separate times with the same result. 5750 ATI Radeon graphics card. Have tried using both directx9 and directx11 with no success on either attempt.

Yep crashes after char customization screen. (Tried Male warrior & Rogue so far)

WIn7-64Bit , Intel i5-760 , 6Gb RAM , Geforce570 GTX , latest Official Nvidia drivers 266.58 , 1680x1050 resolution.

yepp. same problem here, windows 7, x64, works fine the exaggerated part but crashes after charater customization screen (every time)

Same problem here, not very good advertising for bioware. Quited playing, started Dragon Age 1.

Unbelievable, waited for months for this release, and after 25 minutes 4 crashes. I'm done with it.

Sysinfo: Windows 7 x86 (there goes the patern guys!), 4gb ddr2, ati radeon hd8570, latest drivers, Intel core 2 duo E8500 (load around 50% during game so cpu is not the issue).

Same here for the female rogue. Win7-64, ATI 57xx, latest ATI drivers and latest DirectX.

Thats what same problem usually means after a quote..It crashes AFTER clicking on start game. 

No flame intended btw, just frustrated to the bone that this ****ing demo wont even play right.

Same crash here. Clicked Start Game and it just sent me back to the desktop. Damn. I was really looking forward to this.

Crashes after I get the character customization scene (after intro combat).

Ah seem like diffrent crashes.
1: Game crashes directly 
2: Game crashes after selecting class -> Crash
3: Game crashes after intro / several short fights / intro again / character customization screen -> Crash

I had one crash right before the ogre attacks in the "real" version of events. Had to start again, but had no crashes at all during second playthrough.

I was playing as a male rogue.

Thanks everyone. We've filed a bug internally and are investigating. In the meantime, based on this thread, it sounds like this is tied to attempting to run under maxed out settings and with DirectX 11. Can you confirm whether or not you're able to play one you reduce your settings?

No crashes for me but horrible lags and stuttering.

Have an GTX 470 and win 7. And an i5 intel processor and 4 GB RAM.

When I changes to dx9 then there+s no problem.

I am playing on max settings with DirectX 9. Will try with lowest settings possible, will report back in couple of minutes.

Thanks for keeping us up to date. For me, with my Radeon 57xx, I can't even access the 'high' or 'very high' settings. so I've been getting this (repeatable with each char type/gender, after clicking on Start Game at the customisation screen) crash on medium settings, 4xAA, DX9.

Same issue for me win7 64bit. I played through to crash 3 times now on 'high' graphics settings (which are great btw).
