Ok, disabling Vsync worked for me as well. Of course it introduced a lot of undesirable tearing.

Disabling vertical sync fixed my crashes as well... which suggests that it might have been a good idea to pick safe default settings (or to suggest safe settings after a crash)

Ah well, let's hope these problems are just restricted to the demo...

Yes. Same here.
DirectX9 + vertical sync = crash after face/name selection.
BUT
DirectX11 + vertical sync = no crash at all.

I initially was able to play all right. Played for a few minutes but had to go out. When I tried to play again I got bounced to the desktop at the character customisation screen. I was using DX9 but changed to DX11 and it ran fine.

Thx for the tipp to disable Vsync, running it on dx9 , very high settings , 2xaa, now with no problems. Before it crashed like 2 times out of 3 at character screen and at the family scene.

I was playing in DX11 in high texture some AA some anisotrophic windows 1600X900 and was at the kirkwall loading introduction when my game crashed. I was so pissed - having played untill that point and was lookin gat another run to that point - I desided to do something else.
Without spoiling it, the event after the big ogre was just blowing me away. very cool and I LOVE that armor that "person" is wearing. Looks awesome.
Will try and run the demo is DX9 se if that helps.

Freezing when exiting the pause menu (LT), Xbox 360 version. Has happened multiple times, I cannot finish the demo because of this.

At first I had same problem. Checked this thread and only thing I did was "Vertical synch" - OFF. I could play the game with D11 and High Res without any crashed. Thank you.

It does appear to not crash on the lowest quality settings.
It is obvious this is another console port to PC.
I will still most likely be canceling my pre-order of DA2.
Once again; Bioware=FAIL.

It worked when I ran the game as an administrator. Managed to play it 4 times in a row too, just that there were alot of "loading..." words during gameplay. Other than that, low settings and max settings were fine. Using DX9 too.

Turn off full screen. Run DX9. Works for me on Win 7 64 bit 4 GB Ram Radeon HD 5670 2.8 MHz. Very sweet. No lag or "loading." Definately a video issue. I WANT MY FULL SCREEN!!! lol

By the way, after the character select screen, you can turn on vsync again and it won't crash. So you basically only have to deal with tearing during the very first section.
