Following instructions here and turning off Vsync and Anti Aliasing, the demo runs now on both my computers in low video mode, but I am running it at a screen resolution of 1680X1050 and my other one is 1920 or something, so they both work full screen.

Turning off Vsync also made the demo playable for me, too.

Anybody else having their game crash when playing as a male warrior at the fight after the templar have said the prayers to Carver?

I've tried different settings and characters and here goes the report:
My System: windows7 home premium 64 bits, NvidiaGeforce GT230 (VRAM1,50GB), directX 11 (june10), intel core i7, 8GB RAM. I had to update directx from microsoft website, in the first try i got the d3dx9 error msg.

1.- doesn't play with directx11 selected, must use version 9
2.- always crashes after 'character customization' when selecting mage character, whatever video configuration.
3.- when using warrior or rogue with low video quality, demo loads through and afterwards i can select higher video settings, medium quality, any antialising, and the 'better shadows' checkbox (i don't know its english name)
3.1- if i try from start with medium quality, demo plays until customization and then crashes.

The first few times i played the demo it didn't crash but now i'm getting random crashes during combat. I'm even playing with settings on Low.

I don't have the best gaming PC but i was able to play all of Origins with minimal crashing.

The game crash everytime,after start,custumizetion,in loads....regardless class of character or my config =(

Have to say, I had no problems running the demo, except for the missing dll thing (another thread) which was easy to fix.

I have what many have, Intel i5, Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit, etc. but Nvidia GeForce GT 220 card with current driver. So maybe the demo doesn't like ATI cards? Of course, knowing this doesn't make it any less maddening. Does this mean it's going to be a problem with the full game?!

The demo crashes repeatedly as in above instances.
I played it once through on DX11 after several trials and crashes.
Played it through on DX9 after several trials and crashes.
I switched off V-Sync and got past the char select point. Then it crashed as I met Aveline and husband.
I noticed a big speed up after switching off V-Sync, but graphics suffered.
I hope we fix this soon. I am a dedicated fan and pre-ordered DA2.

Well, for me, it always crashes when I hit start game after the char creator.
Tried everything down to minimum settings but cant get past that point for some reason.
Bummer... guess Ill have to wait for the final release to see more of this kickass title.

Hi!
I've played the demo with the male rogue class without any problems. But when playing mage the game crashes, along with my computer, after a while with the sound repeating and the screen not getting any signal from the comp.
I got the furthest when turning off vsync thought (a while after the character customization). Got the latest drives and DX, I'm playing the game at medium settings. Got a Ati radeon 4800 hd series card. Is this perhaps my card overheating or is it a bug?

Does your pc shut itself down? Have you checked the temps inside your system?

Well, the sound freezes as mentioned and then i have to resett it to reboot. (It's actually a pretty awesome sound experiance. )
When i play rogue or warrior the temp is around 57 ºC (134.6 ºF). After the crash it's still around that temp aswell.

I would have to start with the usual culprits...drivers. Sound, graphics, motherboard, etc. Also, is that a gpu temp? May want to see if it is within that cards normal range.

I seem to have a strange problem... The character selection, the varric cassandra cutscene all goes fine, but then the game freezes all of a sudden. When i ctrl+alt+del to open task manager, i can HEAR bethany and hawke fighting the darkspawn, but when i maximize the window again the screen is frozen once more.

solutions?

nope... still no luck. But i think i just got a "Display driver stopped responding". My first GFX Card issue this close to the release date? Just my luck!
Let me revert back to old drivers and try. Don't think i'll get my card RMAed as soon as 8th.

The gup temp is within normal limits. Drivers are the latest. I've been searching to see if anyone else has had the same problem with ati cards (But some with the ati-varda havent been bothered at all), although not with this game but the issues are all the same; play a while and then no signal to screen, sound repeating sound and it reboots. Some of these problems have been solved with patching it would seem.
The thing that bothers me about this is that it only happens when playing mage.

I had the same problem here is the fix.When the character customization apperas click on the name bar and it's should pop up Garrett the name of hawke now click on the Garrett and hit start and that's it

 Played through with all character and sexes exept mage m/f. Since in that instance it always crashes and crashes the same way.

The Ogre after it kills your sister/brother, fight for a minute or two. Pause game to strategize. Jump between each character and give orders. Jump back to main char and it freezes and crashes.

 I can't believe in the situation, people.  I have a netbook thats  packard bell VR46. The only crashed game
is the demo of dragon age 2. I almost tried all settings within the game, configuration as well. Nevertheless,
couldn't manage to end the game without crash. Even on lowest graphical settings, demo crashed.  
 The latest thing i tried was turning of vsync and this tryout made it possible to go further in the game
a little bit. But, then? Crashed again. 

 Any definite solution?
