And vsync shouldn't cause a game to crash, ever. That's poor coding.
Running medium settings DX9 1920 x 1200. Perfect performance with the exception of the "loading..." bug which is apparently fixed on final builds.

Was this game tested and polished or just run out the door asap? You would think they would have learned from the last game. Oh well fanboy at heart so I will always shill out the cash anyways, guess thats why they dont care more.

Graphics are pretty bad with medium settings in dx9 though.
I think the anti aliasing was the main issue on why I was crashing. the moment I turned it off it was working fine.
I also noticed no change with anti aliasing on x8. I don't think AA is working at all. and when you turn it on it just messes the game up.

I might as well post this here too:-
After trying to play the new demo I've come across some horrendous crashing issues. The game runs fairly smoothly when it's running, but I've tried to play it twice and both times had not only crashes, but crashes that needed the restarting of my entire system. The first time the graphics and clours went all strange during the second wave of darkspawn and my whole system had to be restarted (I couldn't alt-tab or ctrl-alt-delete my way out at all, and my whole system froze now and then an chugged, not letting me exit the game). When I restarted and tried again, I had a weird similar glitch when fighting the ogre, and it minimized the game twice, but when it went back it was fine. I continued on and then the graphics glitched again, and it crashed out my entire display drivers with a warning saying as much, locking up the game itself and reducing my system to 640x480 with only 8 colours.
System Specs are as follows:-
Processor: Intel® Pentium® D CPU 3.00GHz
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS
Driver: 182.08
Windows: XP Service Pack 3
Direct X: 9c
I tried things again and actually got a hell of a lot further this time. I tried disabling V-Sync in case it was related to that issue, which I thought initially was working given I got twice as far without issue, and then it pulled the same glitch when I went to level up my brother and sister, and this time I managed to note down the message:-
"The nv4_disp display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. Next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft."

It's a demo...not the (hopefully) polished finished product.

After that I've had two crashes during active gameplay. Once during the cutscene with Flemeth laying waste to darkspawn duing her introduction. The second was as soon as I gibbed the fellow you share words with for Isabella's sake regarding Castilion, forgot the chaps name.
All have been CTDs with no specific errors like runtime, or DLLs, just the generic program has stopped working Windows message. I'll try new video drivers but everything else I'm running right now runs great so I've sat on my current version and hopefully they remain to do so afterwards.
EDIT: 3rd crash with trying vsync disabled and crashed just before the Flemeth intro.

try adjusting some of the video settings. O know since I have a Radeon hd 5870 I had the DX11 turned off. When I turned it back on I got passed the Game start Point. The only problem after that was Alt=tabing.m00nkeielement wrote...
I've had the same problem, I crashed just now when I try to continue from the character create screen.
Win 7 64, ATI 5850
Hopefully this is something they are in the process of patching because I never had one hiccup
or crash in DA:O.

It does the same for me. I play through the exaggerated part just fine,
but as soon as I try to start the actual game it crashes.
I'm on 64bit Windows 7 as well, it seems a consistent pattern.
same here

The game crashed here after the character creation screen, too.
But only in full-screen mode. in windowed-mode, it works.
Win7 64 bit.
DX11
Ati 5870 latest Driver
Playing the game in windowed mode allowed me to play through the whole demo without it crashing once. All attempts to play in full screen mode crashed my system after trying to start the game at the char. customization screen.
Win7 64bit, i7 proc, 14GB ram
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series 1GB vRam

My crashes happen during the loading of cut-scenes. The most often is during the ogre scene and the scene of meeting Flemeth (right as they are loading). This problem is exacerbated by the fact that you can't save.... to be honest I have already uninstalled the demo and was going to pass the game altogether, but in the end decided to give it one last shot with a different class. And no, reinstalling wasn't what fixed the problem because it did crash again... but early enough that I was willing to try again.
I am disappoint... this didn't feel like a demo - it's more like an open beta lol
PS: I am using Win7 x64, core i5 450m and ATI mobility 5650. I first ran using high settings with AA x2, but then downgraded to medium with no AA. Crash still happend on medium settings, but only once.
PPS: To the poster below me - I have the exact same problem with speech lag. Sometimes you even get a veiled loading screen right after selecting a choice in dialogue. The lag usually lasts about 2 seconds and completely breaks the immersion.

Windows 7 (64 bit)
Running Direct X 9
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 ~ (Using current driver) http://www.nvidia.co...hql-driver.html
4 gig of memory
EDIT:
I have not determined anything substantial as of yet, but I ran without Anti-aliasing. And where I once crashed over and over (the ogre), I got passed and saw the whole demo without fail. However, I believe it installed to a more effecient directory, as conversation text went much more smoothly this time around. Overall, no problems. I'll run the demo again with 2x anti-aliasing this time around.
lol, just loaded a male warrior (was playing mage) .. boom crashed with 2x anti-aliasing .. didn't even get pass the character selection screen.
Issues persist with 2x Anti-Aliasing. I was only able to get to the second wave at the beginning. If your game is crashing, turn off anti-aliasing!
